I had bi-amped my RC-70's and it did seem to change the sound but it didn't seem as natural to me as it was more bassy. Then it could have just been Audyssey messing too much with the EQ as I wasn't running a sub at the time.
One more question. Some articles mention the RC series often getting into the 4 ohm territory. I'll be running everything off an Onkyo 609. Anyone have any experience with the RC's and this or a similar AVR?
Thanks
Check your manual, but from what I can find you should be mindful of the 6 ohm limitation of your receiver. If you like to listen at loud to very loud volume levels, it would be a concern that you probably want to be aware of. Once some receivers get tripped from an undeliverable power demand, they will not function properly afterwards and will shut down and behave differently. If you don't listen at really loud levels that are obviously testing or stressing the receiver, I wouldn't worry about it and enjoy what you have.
Hank...you still working on those comparisons with your new beast-vintage Energy titans? I remember you mentioning you were going to compare to RC-70's, etc. I haven't even heard the newer Energy line, but am always interested in hearing.
I'm glad you are loving those Veritas, very nice choice to pick them up.
I sold the black ash C-8s for $400 and the person that bought them was thrilled. I had no room to enjoy them properly and it was time to clean out some items.
I have been listening to the third best Energy titans and am loving them. I haven't compared them to the 70s yet, but I will. I have been extremely busy with work and personal things with the soon to be wife. Also, I have been playing around with a switch between a Pioneer SX-950 and a Luxman R-1120. The Pioneer has been completely rebuilt and the Luxman is all original, and the Luxman is the keeper.
I have 3 rc-lcr's, a pair of 30's and a pair of 10's that I am going to put on craigslist. Before I put them on craigslist I wanted to see if there was any interest here. If anyone has any interest in the St. Louis area, PM me. I would rather not deal with shipping.

RC LCR's and RC-10's for sale? You're about to be a popular guy!

PM sent.
If anyone has RC70s or CF70s for sale pm me. Thanks

Thank you for letting me know regarding your C-8's -- good to know I'm asking in the right range. I think the person who does end up with them will be very pleased, but in the meantime I can wait for the right buyer.
Not surprised the wedding stuff has been taking up a lot of time -- many of my friends worked as hard planning their weddings as any job...that stuff is no joke!!!
Unless I happen to come across some stellar deal, I can't imagine that external amps will be something my audio forays will entail...though it's fascinating to hear about your experiences. A few weeks back a gentleman [via craigslist] was offering a Rotel RSP-1066 (pre-HDMI), along with $150 for the C-8's ... had it been an amp, I might have considered it...but the last thing I need [it would seem] is another surround processor. (Unless there is something I'm really just not aware of)
Is the soon-to-be-wife appreciative of your audio-endeavours as well?

Yea. I hope I am not making a mistake. I love them but I am crossing over to the darkside and planning on trying DIY. You mentioned the lcr's and 10's, is there no love for the 30's?
What stands are those, Darrin? I've been looking for a stand with an extremely wide, stable base....3 yr olds are hazardous to stand-mounted speakers in my experience
Actually I made them from solid oak stair treads. I think they are 1 5/16" thick and the pillars are 1x4 solid oak - 3 sided with the backs open. They are heavy and very stable. I left the backs of the pillar open because I was going to fill them with concrete, I just never got around to doing it.
Thanks to advice found here I am now running a full Energy setup. I was running an Energy EXL S10 sub with Klipsch RC 52, RF 42II and RB 42II's. Picked up a pair of RC 70's from Futureshop for $720 plus tax and found RC LCR and 2 X RC 10's is excellent condition for $525 delivered. I know my fellow Canadians can have a difficult time finding the RC series. The C series works OK with the RC 70's but a full RC series will set me up for years. Futureshop still has a few RC 70's for $800 plus tax if any other Canadians are looking. Limited stock and no rainchecks. I got mine open box in perfect condition. Thanks again for all the great reading on this thread. Edited by durhambird - 2/1/13 at 9:53pm
Hehe some of you are lucky ... I walk two kilometers to work each morning... The temp today? -35 celsius (-31 fahrenheit ) And that's not all, the forecast is the same for the rest of the week ( Im in Canada, btw)
