I'm hoping so based on what Avarice posted earlier. I snagged one from Vann's before they are gone, since I missed out on the wwstereo $170 price on them. This way at least I can keep my AC-300 matched up with my C-6's when I move them into another room.

I'll keep looking for an LCR though.

I saw your other post about James Bond Skyfall. My experience mirrored yours. The picture was much worse than what I get on my Panasonic Plasma, and the SQ was not comparable to my Energy RC setup with my subs.

While Skyfall seemed an exception regarding movie theater video quality, I often feel my home audio system meets or exceeds the movie theater sound experience.

Hey guys,

for what its worth check out Ralphs review for skyfall it seems the blu ray version is leaps and bounds better then the theater representation. Both audio and picture quality! I haven't watch it yet its sitting on my counter waiting for my wife and son to go to the in laws so I can crank it up lol

Could be a good test for your systems

Cheers!

I should have been more clear, sorry. Vann's still has a few, wwstereo does not. They are $199 at Vann's.

I do have a RC mini CC that I can offer to sell, but that is more suited for a setup with RC-30s.

Hey Darrin-R.

Energy just posted the picture of your setup in their Facebook page.

Did you noticed someone posting about stop putting picures of Energy setups and listen to the people at AVS forums, continue speaker lines like RCs?
I really don't know what's the purpose of Energy posting discontinued or almost discontinued speaker series pictures on their FB page. It's now like they're keep producing them.

I saw that.
This might be old news but someone else said "Future Shop is selling the RC-70's for only $399 each."

Not sure if you said that in jest, but to Energy's defense, they simply linked to that thread, the same way we often link to their page. IMHO whatever you publicly post on the net should be linkable; it works both ways. If the picture was unattributed then I guess it would be another matter. If you protest, I'm sure they'll just remove the post on Facebook and that will be all.

Also, has anyone read AVSForum's user agreement? Do we cede rights or keep them when posting pictures on the site?

I'm not trying to make you sell your LCRs as I'd probably keep them for spares or something too biggrin.gif But what you say makes little sense unless you managed to wall mount your LCRs. The RC-70s are *much* more stable than vertical LCRs on stands. In fact I'm surprised at how bottom-heavy they are and how stable they are, and I feel much better having 70s than CB-20s on stands with a young 2-yo dancing around. The 70s can't topple forward without considerable effort due to their surprising depth, and in my case, they can't topple sideways (they'd fall on a wall or the rest of the HT setup before falling on someone).

I think the V5.2c is the next best choice and as Avarice said, the clearer treble may even be an advantage. Not sure about Vann's stock but wwstereo's stock did seem to have lots of dented tweeters. It was almost like they got a bad production run and tried to clear it.

I see why it may seem confusing, my front LCR pair are sitting on counter level built-ins that flank a fireplace, a touch higher than would be ideal, and they're spaced wider than I'd like but main goal is that they're off the floor. While your 2-yo dancing may not jeopardize a tower, my 5 and 3 yo crazies would certainly make my BP rise! I say this, but I may have them in here for break-in period... and we'll see if I can manage to move them to safety
post #44536 of 47743
I would like the center speaker. If possible how much would you want for it by itself?

Thanks

Aaaah I seeeee now biggrin.gif Agreed, your LCRs may be safer on counters. Still, short of tackling the 70s, they wouldn't topple. I'd fear for the finish though smile.gif

On the topic of Energy's Facebook page, it's kind of weird indeed that most posts are picture of discontinued products. As someone noted, there is that mysterious reply on a comment by an Energy staffer. Quoting:

Energy Speakers Eitan Altman, stay tuned...

+1 Exactly what I was about to write, but then I scrolled down and saw your post. Are they that dense or is their maybe a glimmer of hope Audiovox won't kill Energy off? It really seems that some retailor could make some decent coin by offering to keep the RC-10, RC-70, RC-LCR alive like Vanns did.

both tweeter have their pros and cons so dont get me wrong.smile.gif

Could you care to name the pros and cons of each in your experience?

well I will write it short and simple

The cons

The Veritas V tweeter doesn't play as low as the RC tweeter.
The RC tweeter doesn't play as high like the veritas.

The pros on the Veritas V tweeters is the amount of detail that it can offer over the RC, but do not produce the same lower frequencies like the RC tweeter.

The pros on the RC tweeter is the ability to play lower frequencies over the Veritas V tweeter, but it lacks on the detail that the Veritas V produce.

hope this help a littlebit smile.gif

Remember that both speaker offer great sound.

This is something that you wont notice unless you play then together.

Im pretty sure that Both Veritas V and RC owners will be happy with their purchase.

I wouldn't go by their Facebook page updates, am sure its one of our RC fans managing the page at Energy smile.gif used to follow them regularly but found the information to be off many a times.

I would expect more of sound bars and stuff to be released.

I also just pulled the trigger on the next to last pair of RC-70's at the Anaheim CA store. Two days left on the sale, this is likely the TRUE last call on the RC line. I really debated getting these as I'm honestly pretty happy in my small 11.5 x 12" room with RC-10's, RC Mini Center and CB-5 rears. I may yet just sit on them sealed in the box, as I figure it is hard to go wrong $323 after tax. That RC-Mini is now a definite herrbie in the mix if I break out the RC-70's (glad I have that RC-LCR still in the box smile.gif )

Guys the waiting is over. I give UPS a thumbs up for taking care of the product.. Box is good as you can see.

I need youre help guys. This is my first high end speakers what are the next thing i need to do? Im replacing my takes classic L C and R with these towers. I still gonna use my 2 takes for my surroud. Should i run the audysy right away or just plug the wires and break it in and after that run the audysy?
Your speakers will subtly change with the break in period. You definitely will need to run Audyssey after a 100 hours or so. No harm doing it now for no other reason than to practice using the Audyssey feature.

You should always do it each time you change anything (speakers, placement, subwoofer volume, new furniture, etc.) just to make sure it is adapted to your room and speaker placement.

If at all possible, open the boxes while UPS is still there. The outside of the boxes have very little to do with the damage that has been seen on the inside. These speakers are very heavy and they tend to shatter the pitiful excuse for packaging on the corners as they shift from ene to end even when sliding around in the trucks. The styrofoam corners were NOT designed so these boxes could ship across the country individually but on pallets.

I was lucky enough to meet the driver at the door and he even helped me un-pack and lift them out for inspection. It just makes it a whole lot quicker and easier to refuse shipment than to deal with a return. You might even arrange for them to hold the boxes at the facility so you can pick them up instead of having them sit at your front door. Please folks...every time you post a picture of an un-opened box I'm thinking OPEN THE BOX AND CHECK FOR DAMAGE!

Once in the house, check each speaker, even removing the gold strap on the back to check the crossovers, which have come loose during shipment in the past. Check the towers side-by-side to check any differences. I bring all this up because these may well be the very last 70's we will see and waiting to swap until 30 days from now may just be impossible!

Sir just unpacked my speakers. One of the speakers has a cracked dent at the back of the speaker stand.

Leave the foam in there.

The binding posts (there are 4 of them) should be connected vertically by a pair of gold colored plates. You'll want to leave the gold plates there but unscrew one of the sets (top or bottom) to slide your bare wire into. Just make sure the receiver matches to the speaker. For me, I use things like, Red/Writing. Meaning the wire with the writing always goes from red to red, and the unmarked wire goes from black to black. Don't cross them or let any frayed wire touch.

Wait...the speaker came with the foam already in the port? Hmmmm....

As far as the speaker wire connection. It makes no difference which posts you use. The hunk of gold metal connects the top to the bottom electrically. Either use the two top or the two bottom. You might remove the gold metal piece and connect the top to test the tweeters, then the bottom to test the woofers. Use Low volume and just make sure you have sound coming from all your speakers. Then re-connect the gold strap and a pair of wires from your amp and relax and enjoy while they are breaking them in at a reasonable volume.
