My RC-70's were delivered this morning. Ordered them Sunday, shipped Monday and delivered on Wednesday. (Shipped from Memphis, delivered to Columbus, OH)

The boxes looked great, found one small nick on a back edge....other than that, they were perfect.

Breaking them in now.....thanks to the forum for flagging this sale for me....really pleased.

I've got six 70s singing right now biggrin.gif

Breaking them in on multi channel stereo...there is a marked difference between my well-worn pair and their new friends.

Rock on Avarice! I am happy with just my 2! I can't imagine 6 of these things. Wow! Waiting on the v5.2c but breaking the rc70's in right now - past couple of hours.

I plan on hooking up my RC-70's tonight, and can't wait. All I've had time to do since picking them up is just unpack and inspect them, and throw in the port plugs.

And my V5.2C is scheduled to be here tomorrow.

Now I'll just need to find a cheap receiver to power my C-6's and AC-300 when I move them upstairs.

Yeah, I was all raging seeing the 70s at those prices in the US, and trying to see if there's a Fry's close to the border biggrin.gif I imagine his setup (LCR center, 70s L/R and LCR surrounds) and my mouth waters.

Then I calm down when I realize I've already got about the same setup (except with RC-10s as surrounds). tongue.gif

Congrats to all new RC-70s owners; but to all those with triple LCR and V5.2 setups that could be had for $200 each or lower, don't worry: that was a totally incredible deal as well.

It seems that the RC series is not in production anymore. Following Vann's troubles, the last batch of LCR was sold through Meijer's a few months ago, and this seems to be the clearance sale for the remaining RC-70s, unless somehow Energy/Klipsch/Audiovox decide to restart the production for some reason.

Some dubious sites sell a few LCR units at very high prices (~$500) new-in-box, but you may have better luck hunting a used one. The V5.2c is a viable alternative (not the same finish though), and under $200 at wwstereo, is a great deal.

Like Neutro says, get the 5.2C. It is close to the RC-LCR in design and is a near match; it's your best option if you don't want to spend the extra for the RC-LCR (if you can find it).
You can find it but it's $500. I ordered the v5.2c from vanns for $199. It will match well according to the experts on here. I get it Friday. Settings on your receiver should let you run phantom or configure as no center.

I got my RC LCR from Woot which probably isn't authorized or has a limited warranty. Not really worried though because no chance of me blowing out my speakers.

DId Audiovox buy out Klipsch, or did they buy the Energy Line from Klipsch? I would agree with you if they bought out Klipsch and all their umbrella brands. Having just bought RC-70's yesterday I do hope you are right, but I purchased these knowing that issue was a bit squishy.

i know, RC LCR now the prices is too high. i cant even afford to get one. guys, can you please send me a link for that alternate center speaker? maybe il get that centet instead.
i called vans a guy told me they have some RC LCR stock there but all of them was returned by the previous owners due to some damages, like tweeter damaged and woofer damaged. they are still waiting from the replacements parts from energy so that they can re post again the RC LCR models. but he has no idea when are this gonna happen. and he said they can also sell those returned LCR and i think you will be the one to get it fix. i dont know if that is a good idea to buy it damaged.

The cons

The RC tweeter doesn't play as high like the veritas.

The pros on the RC tweeter is the ability to play lower frequencies over the Veritas V tweeter, but it lacks on the detail that the Veritas V produce.

hope this help a littlebit smile.gif

Remember that both speaker offer great sound.

This is something that you wont notice unless you play then together.

Im pretty sure that Both Veritas V and RC owners will be happy with their purchase.

Thanks for the coomment, i have three V-5.2-C as my fronstage and i really like the detail it offers me. Now with the crazy RC-70s dal at Frys i wonder if i should have waited to get two RC-70s instead of the V-5.2-C and just use the V-5.2C ad my CC speaker. But i can't complain i really like the Veritas, and anyway for my listening space tower speakers would have been too mu:pch for me and my wife.

I want to clarify that the ability of the rc tweeter to sound lower is by a edge over the veritas tweeter, but the ability of the veritas to reveal detail is far more obvious than the RC.

Veritas sound staging is also very impressive.

I dont want to sound mean with this since I was a owner of the RC for years and never had a problem with then, but!! till I listen to the veritas next to then smile.gif I was happy with the RC before listening to the veritas mad.gif

I guess those of you with both old and new will soon find out if the new ones are really the same speakers internally as the old ones. If they don't sound the same after a few hours, something's up.

Anyone interested in a new never used 7.0 RC Micro system, just send me a Pm. I purchased these only to purchase the veritas minis a few weeks later.

Audiovox or Voxx Int'l bought Klipsch Group and everything under that umbrella which is Klipsch, Energy, Mirage and Jamo.

Does anyone know if there will be any new product lines from Energy, Mirage or Jamo? Or did Audiovox just purchase them to dismantle them and make Energy produce nothing but soundbars from now on?

Seems like a sad way to go

It is. No way to know what they're planning, but the recently produced 'Power subs' don't bode well for the line.

Hope springs eternal, but this spring seems to be running dry. If they license the rights to some speaker lines, like they apparently are with the Take Classics to Monoprice, that would be ok - at least they would live in a less attractive enclosure, but it seems like audiovox is not committed to excellent speakers.

I hope to be proved wrong.

for the price you got them for, I would keep them and ask for a $50 refund. Then you can try to locate a new base yourself through energy.

For Southern Ontario Canadians,

Someone in Guelph is selling a complete RC setup. 2 X rc 70, rc lcr, 2 x rc 10 and 2x rcr, 10 inch sub and receiver. Wants $3000 for the lot or willing to sell separate. Might be worth an email. Good luck.

PS. RC 70 are back to $500 each at Futureshop

At this moment there is not much other options just to get a partial refund ,I wouldn't count on energy for the base since the part may not be available anymore.

but if it bother you ,call energy.

You should be able to call Energy and get a replacement base. Get your refund for the cracked base from Fry's too.

Yep if you can squeeze a little money out of Frys, do so. Seems to me someone on this board got a new base from Energy not so long ago. If it's free or cheap do so. But worst case is it so bad you couldn't touch it up (wood glue, wood putty, black paint) is it still functional as far as stabilizing the speaker?

Or, with $50, get someone to make you two new bases (so they match), paint them black yourself, and replace them both.
