On a related note, I had to switch shelves in my TV stand to accomodate the height of this speaker, leaving only a small gap between the receiver and the shelf above it. Will this lack of air space damage the receiver. I have a denon avr-1911. Thanks.

My receiver is in a permanently open-faced cubby in a wall unit (looks like a cubby meant for a vcr or something), and there is only a 1.5-2 inch gap above, not to mention it being enclosed. I purchased 2 computer cooling fans and have them come on any time the receiver is on to pull the hot air out of the cubby.

Great, no regrets. I put the VS surrounds up for sale but didn't get any bites so I bought three V5.2Cs and am setting up a projector theatre in the basement. When you have extra speakers, the only solution is to buy even more - makes sense right?

Mothers of Invention was my first. About 10 years later I ended up on the road in a band with Rockette Morton from Captain Beefheart's band and ended up meeting the captain and driving by Zappa's old house. I just realized the connection there! Still kicking myself for not seeing Cream in concert just before the Mothers. Although I caught Jack Bruce in Seattle last year at the Jazz Alley. Those of us in "high" school in the late 60's truly were blessed with all the great music happening, as well as so much more to "experience"!

Your right about that. I have 2 V6.2's and a V5.2, Using these in the living room and a new pair of V6.2's still boxed. Tthought about picking up 2 more V5.2's and using the 4 V6.2's for front stage.
Its hard to pass those up at these prices. I move my speakers around alot especially if I want 2 channel listening on older gear. Did you get the rosenut or black colored?

Thats really cool stuff, I was in High School in the 70's so just a bit behind you. If you saw the Mothers back then man way to cool. Frank Zappa is a required taste but once you
get it in your blood look out. Wild stuff Man. Like my Father used to always say Peace, Love & Jimmie Hendrix. He was a big CSN and Hendrix fan and him and I talked about going to Woodstock
right before he passed away last August. He said seeing Hendrix close out Woodstock was well worth all the rain, mud and crap that went with that concert

rosenut. I debated since the VS's are black, but the rosenut sure is pretty.

I don't know if you live near a best buy, but they have a lot of receivers on clearance. Use this and enter your zip code. The only bad thing is you have to search each store individually.

I leave near best buy but I can't for now do to heath problems.

Yup. Started playing in '64 with Beatles and Ventures tunes. In fact, I just picked up the first Beatles LP and the Ventures "Walk Don't Run" on Vinyl a coupla weeks ago. Full circle! And speaking of Hendrix doing the Star Spangled Banner, I'm a direct descendant of Francis Scott Key. Another coincidence. I was prolly in Seattle about the time your dad passed. Sorry to hear that. Mine died about 3 years ago. He used to say "Getting old sucks, until you consider the alternative"! The best part about my age right now is that I just made a 20k withdrawal from my IRA's today. Hence the recent accumulation of Energy speakers and whatever else I couldn't afford when I was younger. Being un-employed sucked but retirement is bliss!

EDIT:

You edited your post after I started the reply. Not in Seattle but it's our favorite spot to "Summer". Awesome food and the Hendrix exhibit is something everybody needs to "experience".

Sorry to hear about your health problems. I had pneumonia when I was in my 30's and it was really tuff getting over it. I was on 6 different drugs and became addicted to the codine in the cough medicine. I thought at the time it was all the Pepsi I was drinking keeping me awake at night so I quit cold turkey and I haven't had a soda in over 25 years. Booze or illegals either. Something like that really makes you appreciate your health. My brother became addicted to pain meds and died in his sleep on Christmas Eve after refusing rehab. Take care of yourself, watch the meds, and get second and third opinions. And keep us posted!

I picked up a couple of RC-70's from Fry's today. Boy are they heavy!
I have a system if 6 JBL S38II which I like a lot but you all made me curious... smile.gif

So far, they clearly need breaking in as they are quite boxy sounding. They image extraordinarily well though. I have music playing all night on them to loosen them up...

Maybe people will believe YOU when you comment on the difference after break-in! Toe-in and positioning is also very important with these speakers. Some have even reported a nice image when they toe them in almost cross-eyed. Let us know what you find there.

I need to completely re-do my bedroom to accomodate the RC-70's alongside the V2.3's for stereo use but I'm really looking forward to revisiting my vinyl collection. It's been 15 years since I had my turntable plugged in!

Didn't you say you had a Mirage Prestige S8 sub? The right sub will be crucial with those little speakers. I've got the RC-Mini's and the Mirage sub and they really do have that Energy sound. Same tweeter. As long as you can fill in the lack of a larger woofer with a nice tight sub.

You mentioned they at first sounded like the RC's but after break-in they started to have more of the Veritas sound?

My rc-70's are toed in as well. My basement wall where my theatre room is has a point, same as the wall in the living room. Couldnt tell you if any of my speakers
sounded better toed since thats the way I use them but I do like being in the cross.

Yes I have the energy 8" sub ,but I'm using the dual 15" sub and they really blends I don't even notice that the bass is coming from the sub, it sound like is coming from the tiny speakers, to me the tweeter sound like veritas now, but I have to make sure again since I haven't play the towers with the minis.

I will let you know tomorrow.

70s arrived yesterday, thought the boxes looked ok, but there is some damage to base on one of the speakers. Swapped out the 50s. Toe-in is at about 10 degrees, with the speakers 6 feet apart, thinking of increasing the angle a bit just to see what happens. Immediately noticed more bass on the 70s, but then I realized it's because I plugged the ports on the 50s.

Will break them in a little more today. Hooked the 50s up in my bedroom to a Lepai T-amp, which powered my BS-41 just fine, but for some reason it just seems like it will be underkill on the 50s.

Not sure if you saw my earlier post - I called Fry's and sent them a picture. Got $50 off for keeping mine with a small dent. I was good with that and it wasn't time consuming or frustrating at all.

if anybody still looking for RC LCR looks like this site have 32 items left for $235. http://www.royaltystudio.com/products/Energy-Speaker-Systems-72%252d21168-RC%252dLCR-Center-Speaker-(Black)-%252d%252d-1CO001P3TDAR98.html but the problem is how can we purchase from that site?

Did you try adding the speaker to your cart? When I tried it said "There are no products in your cart".

I don't think they have any or that this site is legit.

So far 5 days with energy veritas v mini and son far I like the sound ,I want to clear this I said that the tweeter at first sounded like Rc then after couple of days they open up and sounded like veritas towers, well today I decide it to plug the veritas towers and veritas mini and do a A-B test and what a surprise the veritas tower where more brighter than the minis ,I don't have a rc speaker anymore to test if they have the rc sound ,but I clearly remember the Rc sound, been owner of rc series for years and also owned Rc-minis to me the veritas mini are in between Rc and veritas not as brighter as the veritas tower but not as laid back as the Rc, they are in between both ,no wonder I like then so much.
