Probably another stupid question but I want to be sure.
Thats all you need to mount them to the wall? What about the screw that goes into the back of the speaker?

Maybe you have plenty of room. I grabbed the 2.3 towers specifically because they are front ported. The 2.4's have ports in front and back.

That's a great point you bring up that I hadn't thought of previously -- the differences in porting between the 2.2i's, the 2.3i's, and the 2.4i's. smile.gif
Ironically I had one too many caffeinated beverages the other night & couldn't sleep -- which led to me reading through some more documentation on speaker placement. I ended up moving the 2.2i's the 'minimum' 2 ft from the back wall, which did seem to help with bass. I'm not sure if moving them out even more would help even more...but it did seem to add a bit more. The 2.2i's don't "lack" bass per se, but it does become noticeable with certain types of music.

Thankfully, I do have room to move the speakers up, whatever the model ends up being (which had been vital with the bipolar APS 5+2's). So, I would be able to accommodate them, but I found it very enlightening how you sought out the 2.3's specifically since they were front-port...and thus more "space-friendly".

I guess whether the 2.4i's would be a worthwhile upgrade really depends on how much I 'value' the extra bass. First thing will definitely be to run XT32 calibration & see if the 2.2i's blend with my sub (s12.3) nicely first though -- if that gets me there, then I'm already set. smile.gif

Thanks again for the insight. smile.gif

There is 4 screws that hold the back plate , remove the one that fit best with the speaker position and use it with the mount.

Thank you for the response. Let me rephrase the question. Do I need anything at all extra to mount the speakers to the wall besides what comes with them?

You only need screws to mount then to the wall ,here is pic

What is the proper way to set up my surrounds? Bipole or dipole?

What surrounds do you have? If its the V- Mini's in the previous picture of your last post there is no way to set them bipole or dipole.

The lower frequency response for the V2 series, whether the i series or the older ones, is 2.4=30Hz, 2.3=35Hz, 2.2=40Hz. Obviously the 2.4 will be a noticeable improvement over your 2.2's, but I'm not sure whether it's worth going to the 2.4's over the 2.3's with the added concern over any boominess those rear ports may cause. The Energy S12.3 is a VERY capable sub (I've got an S10.3), and you may want to let it cover those lower freq's anyway.

My V2.3's are prolly 10-12 years old. The woofers seem fine, and they were shipped to me from Florida with nothing but that godawful loose styrofoam popcorn. What a mess! I contacted the people in France that have new woofers for sale on eBay. They have 16 of them for the 2.3. Keep in mind that, because of the different number of speakers in each model, every one uses a speaker of different impedence. Just thought I'd put that out there 'cause it may not be obvious and wasn't easy to track that info down.

Having said all that, the i series woofers were not only improved to not fail, but also supposedly have an improved sound (according to Energy Lit) over the non-i woofers. The crossover was also changed so I'm not sure how close they would match your V2.2i's if you were to grab some non-i towers.

I'm guessing you're looking at some big bucks for those towers but, I'm also thinking, and you'll prolly agree, you could get rid of ALL those other speakers if you had a 5.1 with V2.4i's, V2.2i's, and a matching center! I'm currently looking for some V2.2's to use as wides and also, and I hate to bring this up but, as back-ups for the Mid speakers. They also have known issues of failing and getting "gritchy". Those are the same part number across ALL the V2-series including the i's, except for the V2.1's, which did not have the Mids. I just scored a V2.2WM wall mount speaker that has the same Mid/Tweeter assembly in it for $100 bucks off the 'bay! Mine was the only bid, and now I have a back-up and a killer Center.

So, short answer, you're prolly fine with what you have. But if you've got a line on some V2.4i's and have the room to let them breath, and of course the bucks to make it happen, I would grab them!

Thank you, sir. Nice looking, clean install. And you did that entirely with only the hardware that came with the speaker? My biggest concern is with the screw that actually goes INTO the speaker. Obviously it must have a special thread. Also, I dont see a hole for it in any of the pictures of the speakers.

Yes - with the exception of the screws that attach the mount to the wall and wall anchors (those little plastic things that you put in the wall first and get split behind the drywall when a screw is inserted). The anchors aren't needed if going directly into a stud.

The mount kit comes with a screw that replaces one of the 4 attached on the back of the speaker. You take one of the four out and put the one with the kit in (which is slightly longer to compensate for going through the mount). The head even matches the others. It's a piece of cake to install.

Well, first off, the build quality of the V-minis HAS to be much better than those Klipsch. They look like they're made of plastic. Next, the Klipsch only have .75" tweeters and 3.5" woofers. They look more comparable to the Take Classic set. The 1" tweeter, 4.5" woofer and cabinet size alone will make the V-minis more full sounding.

Later this year I am planning on upgrading to some higher end speakers for 2 channel audio. I may sell my cherry RC-10's and cherry RC-Mini CC. The color is no longer available and they are in great condition. What do you guys think I could get for them?

Thanks! So, thats the trick. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out where the screw goes into the speaker. Magic! Funny how sometimes the most obvious answer is the last one that is thought of.

No problem - I was wondering the same thing, until I got it and it explained it in the instructions.

Completely agree. 2 of the 3 ways are my front heights. My bigger concern is replacing my surrounds with the v minis. I dont think the difference is nearly as much with these.

I dont want to get the veritas 5.0 package unless I can replace all 4 of the speakers in question and get a significantly better sound.
Thoughts?

Hey guys, I need a little help diagnosing a problem in my AV system. Here's the info...

Within the last week I've noticed I need to turn my volume up to about -20dB to hear the dialogue in TV and movies. Before that I was more likely to listen at about -35dB. The only recent change in the system is that I grabbed the RC70 deal from Fry's and I'm running them in 2.0 for music in zone 2. The rest of the system is as follows: 4x RC10, RCLCR, HSU STF-2. Receiver is a Denon 2112.

Could the zone 2 speakers be drawing power away from the main amps? BTW both zones are never on at the same time.

Could I be going deaf after over-enjoying these RC70s? cool.gif

I thought it might be something with Audyssey (dynamic EQ, dynamic volume, reference level offset). However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to tweak these settings! Any changes I try to make on the denon iphone/ipad app don't stick (any changes automatically switch right back to the default). Within the actual Denon GUI I can't even find these Audyssey options.

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers and happy listening!
Jamus

I will since I live in Louisville you could check them out first or I could hand deliver to you. I am just not sure of the timing on the new speakers.

Hi Guys,

I have the RC-10's, a RC-LCR and some mini RC's (surround) in my HT setup. I recently replaced the RC-10's to some RC-50 thanks to a great deal found on Craigslist (Thanks Fry's!!). While changing out the speakers, I noticed that the tweeters in my RC-10's were dented/pushed in. The same goes for my mini's. I keep the grill off my speakers (love the look) and assume my kids got their curios paws on them. I have a couple of questions. How can I tell if my speakers have been affected by the dented tweeters? Can replacement tweeters still be found? If so, where and what's the approximate cost? If replacements can't be found, I've read that you can use a vacuum to try to suck them back out. Anyone tried this, does it work? Are there any other solutions you can recommend? Thanks
