I think he was more referring to the difference in sound. No matter how crappy your computer speakers are, you could still notice a distinct difference in the sound of the tweeter.

I have officially sold off all my energy speakers now

Replaced my 10s with CBM-170s due to Charlie's glowing review. Looking forward to seeing how they perform in my stereo set up w/ a denon 1611 and no sub!

Considering the woofers alone sell for around $100 each as a spare part, it's DEFINITELY worth it for backup parts if you own a non-"i" center.

Any modern 7ch receiver can do a 6.1 setup, yes. On a Denon you hook up the single back surround to the left surr.back speaker terminal, and there is a config setting for s.back for 1 speaker vs. 2 speakers.

I was thinking about grabbing it but (1) my wife would kill me if I had another big speaker just sitting around collecting dust, I have nowhere to use it now, and (2) while it's San Diego craigslist, Fallbrook is nowhere close to where I live (45 minute drive north and inland). It's likely closer to you in the OC.

guys...I just received my shipment of the following


3 V-Mini Center Channels!!

I am still waiting for the delivery of the 4 satellite v-minis.....not sure why they didnt come together!??


My total system will look like this

3 Mini V Center Speakers across my front to serve as my Left Center Right

then I will pepper the remaining 4 satellites around as surrounds and backs!


So far I just have the 3 Center Speakers across the front of my TV and Reciever playing with just my HSU STF 2 Sub on right now.....Listening to Pink Floyd's greatest hits to break em in!!


The first thing I noticed right away is how shrilly and bright they are in comparison to the CB20's and the CC10 Center Channel that i just replaced them with......Im hoping the more I play them, the less 'bright' they will sound


Thoughts???..................How should I expect the sound to improve as I break them in?....or should I?

They didn't all ship together because it would take too big of a box.... or they most likely shipped from a different warehouse....hard to say for sure...I am sure the 4 minis will arrive in the next couple of days....World Wide Stereo is a very good and reputable seller...

Did you rerun your receiver's sound calibration after swapping? Audyssey, MCACC, what have ya.... Obviously a big change there...
And I would not worry about the sound right away... let them run for a while...The V-minis are practically a carbon copy of the previous RC-minis and they were a fantastic sounding mini monitor. You have a perfectly matching front soundstage with a better looking and constructed speaker than your CB and CC speakers were...

Losservatore posted some excellent info of his thoughts of the sound of his 5.0 set of V-minis that he just picked up recently several pages back.... If I recall he also remarked on the change in sound they took on as they broke in... The end result being a pretty glowing review of this set of speakers! I would say you have nothing to worry about:)

Question to people who accepted more discount instead of return to Frys due to shipping damage on those RC70. Does your manufacture warranty still valid?

Yes. I am still waiting for the $50 refund from frys.i keep on calling them they keep on saying they will refund on my account but still not. And yes energy send me already the broken base for free.i just received it the other day.

Yes the mrfs warranty is still valid. all you need is the original receipt so the 5 year warranty is still intact.

Yes I ordered Sunday!...they came in 2 days...very fast. Well actually, I only got the 3 center channels.....Im still waiting for the 4 satellites. But I got a good start to get a feel for the difference in sound quality


Guys I need some help setting my HSU SUB properly with my Denon.

Im a little confused as to how the Crossover dial on the actual Sub interacts with the Low Frequency Number you set in the Speaker config screen on my DENON reciever

And also there is an IN/OUT Crossover toggle switch on the SUB right below the Crossover Dial.....Im really not sure how all these interact with each other and need to be set for the richest sound


My goal is to get my SUB to perfectly pick up the bass right where the satellites and center channels start to bottom out to create a smooth transition in sound



Can anyone assist?

Should I be setting it to 60HZ, 80HZ, 100HZ on the receiver??...and what should I be setting the dial to on the SUB and should I have the toggle switch to IN or OUT???

Your brain is used to the other speaker sound, give then a time.I have the same problem with every single speaker that I buy and I have to give a time to my brain also to the speaker to break in.if after that you still not satisfied then you are free to complain


too bad that you dont have your CB speakers to do a AB comparison.That way you can hear the differences on all aspect.

Flip the switch to crossover out. That way the receiver does all the bass management and the crossover dial on the back of the sub is disabled.

I can't remember which receiver you have, is it a Denon?

I stopped updating that around April last year I think. I got the 70s about a few days after I got my RC LCR which replaced the Vmini center I had. Was so impressed with the RC LCR I decided to go all out and get the 70s. 2-3 days afterwards I went to an LAHTG meet and a fella offered me the AT 450e's. Couldn't say no It was around May I think when I decided to replace the VR2000 and get 3 more EX's. The VR2000 is still used in the bedroom a long with an EP2500 powering it. Great sub

The fiance was definitely not pleased with such a sudden change in gear lol.

I think you are responsible for at least 2 of my purchases. The 70s and the 170s now lol
