Never used black RC-LCR just posted for sale.

For those of you who are interested, I just posted my LCR for sale over in the classified section. Still fresh in the wrapping. (My V5.2Cs are on their way.)

The Take Classics work quite well as surrounds, especially if the front speakers in the system aren't that much bigger (cabinet and woofer size). The other thing, like I said about mounting, they can be hung with a single screw because they are so light and have a keyhole screw hole that will fit the lip of a screw. They also aren't very deep (depth of cabinet) so they won't stick out too far.

As far as subwoofer goes, the ID subs (internet direct, companies such as HSU, Outlaw, SVS, etc) are the best quality. Even higher quality name-brand subs that match the quality of these subs are usually double the price. So basically the subs have more quality for the money (based on MSRP). Whatever you get, get something with a good amplifier to spread the lower sounds throughout your room that the smaller speakers can't put out.

ok, I think I will use the classics as the rear speakers for now since they are smaller in size. Do you think it would be better to go with (3) v-mini centers up front or (2) v-mini's and a v-mini center?

That is completely up to you. There are benefits to each choice:

3 V-mini Centers up front: This will give you what is called a seamless soundstage which essentially means the same signals sent to all 3 speakers will sound exactly the same and leave no gaps as sound moves across the front. For example, in a movie if someone walks from the right to the left of the screen, or a car driving past the screen. Even though the center speaker matches the satellite-bookshelf version (V-mini), they have different size cabinets and the tweeter is placed differently in regards to woofers, and obviously the center has 2 woofers. The difference won't be dramatic at all, but there are several members here who have 3 centers across the front and love it. There are several more who have wanted to try it but can't or wives won't let them.

2 V-minis and a V-mini Center up front: This would probably be most convenient as far as initial setup. The V-minis can stand up without fear of toppling over if you are going to set it on TV stand or shelf/mantle/etc., and also comes with mounts if you desire to mount them on a wall.



Also, do you already have a pair of Take Classic speakers?

Thanks Jason, I never knew that. Just be careful, there's gonna be quite a few posters saying that the Cambridge has no "laid-back" sound at all and sounds no different from any other hi-fi gear on the market.

There is someone on here thats looking for the RC-6C speakers. There are 3 of them for sale on ebay right now.

Macstatic, I do not have the take classics. All i have is the receiver, I will be purchasing everything else separately. I will be mounting everything to the wall and have room if i go with the (3) centers up front. Is there any advantage either way when listening to music or sporting events?

Yep, the magnetic Energy badge can be placed vertically or horizontally on the V Mini center.

Just realize you might pay more for one pair of Take Classics than they are worth.

Hello guys looking for a little advice. Right now I have cb-5s for front-height duty but I think I'd like to get a pair of RC minis. The other 5 channels are all RC speakers so if anything I just want them all to match .

Would I get any noticeable improvement over the cb-5s or would i just be satisfying my OCD?

I switched my RC-10s out of height duty for a pair of e:XL-16 bookshelf speakers and notice ZERO difference. I think it is because such little content is sent there in the first place. They don't even really look like RC speakers (because of the dust cover, which the other RC speakers don't have).

Obviously this isn't going to work for everyone, but it does work for a lot of people and is at least worth a try...

So, my RC-70 finally arrived today! Not double boxed but looks like everything arrived safe and sound. There was/is a hole in one side, but appears no damage to the speaker. Heard loose parts rattling sound when I tipped up the box, so opened it up to take a look and luckily it was just the bag inside with the spikes, etc. Hopefully once I have time to actually unbox and look at it in closer detail, all will be well.

And, now, just need to find a mate for this bad boy

Just a thought on another RC70...since they are going to be hard to come by at good prices....Fry's still has them in some stores - for $399 each for pick up only. I am not near a Fry's and I don't believe you are either, but maybe some kind sole (there are many on here on this forum) would offer to pick one up and send it to you. You cover shipping of course. Or possibly if you have a friend who lives near a Fry's. Just a thought. It is a crime to only have 1 RC70. In fact, it's punishable by law on the energy thread. Hope it works out on your second RC70 and glad you had no damage!

Thanks, but I am in Canada - no Fry's here. Futureshop is still selling them, but for $499 each. They do have sales on them sometimes, so I will probably wait for one of these, or see if something comes up on my local Kijiji, and/or keep watching the site where I got the first one - might get lucky on a good price for the 2nd

good luck, as many mentioned here with the availability of the RC-LCR, perhaps the Veritas 5.2C is your best bet for a center, Although its rosewood, might not matter if in a hutch or something. I think dan has an RC-LCR here on marketplace for a fair price.

For those of you with an RC-LCR or Veritas 5.2C in an enclosed entertainment center/console, could you please post or pm me with the brand, model, price, etc? That type of info?

I've been wanting a new one for our living room for a bit, but now that my V5.2C won't fit in ours, I've got even more reason. I really like some of the Standout Designs models, but I was hoping to find something nice for less money, if that's possible. Looking for something to fit a 60 - 65" tv, typical 6 cubbies for receiver, blu-ray, etc.

Its very flexible, and will ALMOST host an 80" Sharp, ....At least i think it will.
I was very worried when i got the RC-LCR, becase of the width, But the middle cabinet as well as the top bridge is expandable to 72" wide.

They also made this in cherry and oak. i think

its quite nice. Shopped around a good while till i got it down to about 1800. Then with shipping damages it went down to 1300. Copy of the door clasps and that back wall cover busted. Which i didnt like anyways ,so the discount worked out well.

Bonus: the middle is on casters, so it wheels out easily for a bulb or configuration change of any of the av stuff. It was likely a very good chinese replica of something high end here in the states. Was bought in 2007. You could buy the middle for under 500 or so at the time. Its really solid build too. Good luck with ideas

I wish there was a thread on here for tv stands/furniture. I couldn't find anything that had info updated regularly.

My console simply has a center compartment with an adjustable shelf. I could fit a small sub in it if I wanted to! Can't find the exact model online though, probably discontinued.

This is what I have at the moment. I got it from Value City Furniture for $300 and it has served me well. Very heavy and solid piece of furniture. They also sell matching audio piers, which I have thought about getting.

I can't find the dimensions online.

Specifically, is the area under the TV tall enough for a 7.5" tall center channel (will the shelf lip interfere)?
Also, will the receiver bays fit a Yammy 673 ( 14.4 x 17.1 x 6.8 inches) with room to breath? The shelf is probably removable?

By the way, I thought I'd chime in and say that the s10.2 is doing great! I definitely take back what I said about it not being clear. Now that I have the settings down it blends well with my system and plays frequencies I haven't heard before (from my home system). I understand it could use more power (at 150 RMS, 600 peak), but for the money it is a dang good sub. I can't wait to pair it with my Outlaw to balance the bass in my room. Just thought I'd clear it up in case someone found this sub and went with my first post. I'm going to go back to my recommendation of watching Atlantis: the Lost Empire, though. I watched it with the speakers cranked up and it was FANTASTIC!

The overall dimensions of the unit are 59"w x 20"d x 30"h.

I have my RC-LCR on that shelf below the television so that height will be fine.

I have my PS3 to the left of it and my Pioneer VSX-1020K to the right of it. The bottom shelves hold my DirecTv HR34, my modem and router, my Apple TV and Harmony Bluetooth Adapter, and a box that holds my extra remotes. My Pioneer is 16.55"w x 6.23"h x 13.71"d and I think it would fit on one of the lower shelves, but it would be tight. Your AVR is 17.125"w x 6.75"h x 14.375"d, so it is slightly larger and I am doubtful about it squeezing down there. I will try to take a measurement tonight. The shelf is removable, just not adjustable.

I just bough this I hope Is the right choice for $899.

I would remove the shelf so height wouldn't be a problem for the AVR. It only has to fit the 14.4 x 17.1 base dimensions. Looks like it might slide in easier from the rear or side than the front if it fits at all.

Dustin that is a nice stand, nice match frosted glass with that color of wood, very modern look.

Thanks! It has worked well and offers plenty of ventilation obviously. Now I am hoping that it is wide enough to accommodate a 60" Samsung F8000 if I can save enough money to get one, lol.
