Well with the newly aquired VS surrounds this will give me 4 v6.2's 3 V5.2's and a pair of the VS surrounds with 2 VSW-10 subs.
I think I am going to use 1 pair of the V5.2's for a 2 channel setup in another room. This still allows me to have a 7.2 setup though.

With that said I am going to keep one pair of my RC-70's and sell off 1 pair of RC-70's a RCLCR and 1 pair of the RC-R's.
Would make someone a nice 5. setup. PM me anyone if interested for details

Anyone in Central NJ? This post is interesting.

I paid 359.76 on sale at vanns, if you buy those is just another 107 dollars extra.

Their MSRP: $530/each USD

Before the BK announcement. About 3 weeks or so. I don't think I would have purchased from them knowing they were in limbo. I actually remember talking to both Energy and Vanns in regards to this. Energy said not-authorized, Vann's said we are re-negotiating our contracts and no worries. . You all knew what followed.

You're right, because I was thinking about buying the VS from Vanns through the Amazon store around the 1st week of August/12.

That post would be a lot more interesting if they actually mentioned some model numbers.

I could make a post just like that and wouldn't be selling any of my RC speakers. You'd be looking at 20 year old Encore bookshelf speakers, 15 year old center and an old XL-10 sub.

That's understood, but given that the poster doesn't seem terribly bright, I'd check it out anyway. If I was in Central NJ, which I'm not.

Nice! I think I am going to wait a while to replace my 70s. My plan is to move them into the HT from the 2.1. I have a LCR in storage to go with them. But after they are moved, something will need to take their place to match our newly renovated room. I want 6.3's in rosenut. They are stunning. Hard to pay that much for non-critical listening 95% of the time. But that finish is amazing.

Why did energy stop making these style of speakers?

Hi there, yes...I actually do have a couple pairs of them...one pair of the 2+2's that I used for spare tweeters (feels like a waste...but I needed them to fix other speakers), and a pair of their APS 5+2's.
I actually love the heck out of my APS 5+2's -- they're the whole reason I got into Energy, after hearing some 3+2's back in around 1998 / 1999.
I searched for them for years & finally got a pair that I drove up to San Francisco to purchase (although it did need a replacement tweeter).

Not sure why they stopped making the bipolar design. I don't know how well they sold, but it does seem that they were an 'extra' line that they typically didn't have running...at the same time, I believe, they had the C-series (even numbered) the Veritas, and the Audissey line. Possibly some others? Anyway, the C's and the Audissey's were pretty similar as far as drivers were concerned, so there's a possibility they may have overstepped each other in sales?
Other than that [unsupported] theory, I have no clue. It certainly felt like you got a whole lot for your money with them, though...since they were able to add in more features (bipolar) by using a 'simpler' finish in using 'the sock'. smile.gif

I don't think anyone here has contacted the seller to find out exactly what they are offering for sale. I only posted because it seems like it has potential. It may be junk that they are selling, though.

I ordered a pair for in-store pickup. I was really undecided but decided to make the purchase. I can always return them if I don't need them.

I email him regarding the sub, even i ask if he can provide what model of the sub and how much he want to sell, he didnt say anything about the model and only said give me best offer for the sub. Sounds fishy to me.
Tell him that Energy makes lots of subs and speakers and he needs to specify the model number if you are going to make a reasonable offer. Wort case have him snap a pic on his cell phone or whatever of the sub and speakers and we can identify it here.
If the guy isn't willing to give you model numbers of the speakers he is selling then I'd forget about it. Not worth your time.

Thought I would update on my recent vmini purchase. After a couple of weeks I decided to buy 2 more centers for my front stage and sold a pair of the bookshelfs. Having the extra woofer makes a huge difference when I am listening to music. I also found a mint mirage s8.3 sub for $100 locally that is small enough to keep the wife happy and adds to the overall sound of the minis. I still have to run sub cable through wall and she will be 100%.

I had family over yesterday and everyone thought the speakers were beautiful. If you have any reservations about the rosenut color, don't. It is a gorgeous finish.

They fit so perfectly in the corner of our living room. There was no other speaker that I could mount in the space provided, that looked, and sounded this good. I want to thank all of you for the input and I will keep checking in from time to time. Especially when I get a bigger space and can get some towers. BTW I mounted the centers using the mounts from the vmini bookshelfs.

Looks great tmac! Glad you got what you needed. Great when a plan/sound comes together and the wife stays happy too. I just ran my wires last night and am going to run some 7.1 tests later today...I need to clean up some drywall dust....WAF went way down.

Here is what he replied. Anybody knows what kind of speakers and sub is this?

sub = e:xl-s10
bookshelf = e:xl-16b
center channel = e:xl-c2
Yes, those are from the late 90's. The e:XL series was the entry level model in the late 90's and the S10 subwoofer was the first generation of "S" subwoofers (followed by the S10.2 and S10.3).

The speakers are worthless to you unless you want to make a secondary / bedroom setup or something, they would fetch around $100 total for the three on the used market.

The subwoofer is solid as a second sub to add to your Dayton, I would offer 50 bucks for it. And up to $80-100 it's still a good value assuming it's in good condition.
I see. Any pic for that kind of sub? Old school set up for him lol.
Here's a few images I found on google, it basically looks like a black box... it's a 16 inch cube and weighs 45 lbs:

Better than my dayton 1200?
its likely a tighter bass, more musical than your Dayton, but I could be corrected on that assumption.

I love Future Shop! rolleyes.gif

Went in today and saw a $399 price tag. I informed the associate that the price online was $349 until the end of the day. They looked it up and sure enough, the price has been increased to $399 and the sale has been extended until April 4th. I know for sure that it originally said that the $349 price was good until April 1st and the associate confirmed that the sale prices are valid until the doors close on the date indicated.
