Ive looked eveverywhere and I can't seem to find CR-10's under $300.00

At this price point, I might as well go for RC-10's to replace CB-10's.

Thinking of moving CB-10's to the back sorrounds and using RC-10's for fronts along with CC-10 center that I have.

What do you guys think? Will they blend? Or should I just get the CR-10's for sorrounds?

Can't make up my mind.

Excellent. Just placed my order.

I bought banana plugs for both ends (receiver and speaker) for my 2.1 computer setup, banana plugs for the receiver end of my 7.2 setup and for the speaker end on all but the surrounds (14 pair). Also got a wire crimping tool (been using scissors until now). As for the wire, decided to go with 12 gauge for the 2.1 and front Left, Right, Center in my HT setup. Then went with 14 gauge for the surrounds. Came out to $77 with the coupon code.

(Edit: Clarification: currently have 16 gauge wire all across the board.)

I don't remember anyone ever using a CC-10 center with RC's. Might not sound good unless your AVR could correct for the difference.
Yeah I decided it will either be CR-10 for sorrounds w/ CB-10/CC-10 Fronts or ... CB-10 sorrounds with CF-30/CC-10 Fronts.

What system do you think I will benefit more from??

BTW, a member mentioned he's getting a CF-30 for 120.00 each. Can anyone give me website address or promo code to buy at that price?

The CF-30s would be bigger, of course. If you found another pair of CB-10 that would match really well too. At the current prices, I'd just stick with your RC-Micros and wait for something to go on sale. I haven't seen the C-series go on sale lately, but maybe something will pop up. If money isn't an issue, then it's up to you, but I do agree that an RC-10 and CC-10 combo probably wouldn't work the best (this was talked about before).

He was getting them at that price through some sort of work program. I think like a company incentive. I don't think they are that price anywhere for a regular customer.

Anyone looking for a Veritas V5.2 - Rosenut center speaker in the Dallas area? It can be had for $50-55 .
he has had that listed for like 5 weeks now, and in DFW of all places. Perhaps hes in a bad part of town. Something seems off. 50-60 bucks. For that price would be worth the drivers for replacements is what I am thinking.

Anyone know how much a V52CB cabinet is from energy with no drivers. I wonder if its even available from Klipshe.

I would have bought it if i lived in DFW thats for sure. Its not like their not available still. so it would be easy to make it a pair or just a center.

Odd, though. that its still available for that many weeks if true.

And I just bought a rosenut rc-lcr for under 300 shipped to replace my v5.2c (will arrive by next Thursday). Now I have an RC-LCR to go with my RC70's. I think it should be a little better match and worth the upgrade for a nominal price. tongue.gif

Still need to try both my S10.3's out. I had one hooked up and it was very tight and clear. Both should be even better.

Glad you like your s10.3 (I sold them to him). I just bought a Hsu vtf-15 as a replacement and its even better. This hobby can be quite expensive.

I just picked up a v52cb to complete my upgraded take classic setup upstairs in mancave. Took a while but finally found a second one close to my target price point.

LR=V5.2C
Center =VMiniC
LS, RS = VMiniC

I thiink i will like this setup, I have a Velodyne CT120 upstairs and Denon 3312CI .

Should be a very nice upgrade in my opinion. Looking forward to working it all out. I like the form factor of the V52C and didn't want to do a another RC setup.

I have about 200 total out of pocket invested in this upgrade, Everything else was from ebay . craigslist transaction.

Let us know what you think of the RC-LCR with the 70's vs the v5.2c. I am in the situation of being able to get RC-70's (two blocks away at Future Shop) and in fact have 2 sets of black RC-70's and 1 set of Rosenut RC-50's. What I cannot get easily is an RC-LCR.......I should have got one earlier. Where did you get the Rose RC-LCR ......was it the store demo that was on e-bay last week?

Will do. Yes - It was the one on Ebay. They were reasonable and I talked them down a bit. I will have black RC70s and a Rosenut RC-LCR. My V5.2 was also Rosenut, but the RC-LCR is less red, so it should match my entertainment center better. And the sound should be perfect across the front 3. I did really like the v5.2c but for under $100 for the upgrade worth a shot to get the hard to find RC-LCR.

Thanks mmbuckwa! And thanks for the perfect condition S10.3's. I really like the sound so far. It's not a rattle but a full deep bass, which is what I was looking for. And don't ever post about your HSU VTF-15 on here wink.gif. I can't afford another upgrade biggrin.gif or to even think about another upgrade....Son one of four starts college in a few months...eek.gif

For the MP bananas, I unscrewed them, and removed the color code ring. Then I installed the wire, and bent the wire over the ends of the plugs before screwing the tip on. I find with the color ring removed, the plugs screw together more tightly, and MUCH more secure.

On another note, my wife just so happened to spot a NOW PLAYING sign originally from a movie theater. It is quite large at over 5 feet long, with brushed aluminum finish, similar geometry to what a stretched canvas print would be. What came with it was eleven 5X7 and three 8.5X11 frames for movie (DVD or Blu ray) prints. Got it all for $45.
As well, finally got my "This theater features" poster printed at walmart. I had to redesign it with a little extra border at the top which would get cropped off by the machine, (for some reason). Sad that 2 previous ones got printed and wasted.

Thanks for the advice/warning! I definitely don't want my cables being loose.

Got home from taking my daughter to school and my monoprice order was on my doorstep waiting for me. smile.gif Just finished getting my RC-10s hooked up to my Denon with 12 gauge and banana plugs. The other system will take a lot longer seeing as to how I have to first move my receiver and unplug everything, move my towers that are stuck into the carpet with spikes, etc. But it'll be fun.
nice. I just printed off all the DVD covers for our wall art. Trimmed all the photos and put them in the "frames" (frameless frames if that makes any sense) Cant wait to put it all up !! They look amazing

EDIT: Just a note, if you print something 5X7 at wal-mart, it will come on 8X10 paper, then you have to trim all the edges... ughhhh. But the 8X12's were on the correct sheet.

About a month ago, there was an ad on Craigslist Ventura, CA advertising "High End Home Theater for $1800". The ad said there was $27,000 in Veritas speakers, Denon AVR-5805, and high end cables. I inquired about which speakers and they were two of the 2.3I, one 2.3ci, two 2.3ri,and a Martin Logan Depth subwoofer. The owner sent me a picture of the speakers and they looked to be in excellent condition. By the time I got serious and was ready to pull the trigger, someone else had bought everything from him. mad.gif I was wondering two things: #1 Did anyone that is on this forum happen to purchase the equipment and if so how do you like everything? #2 That seemed like a pretty fair price for those speakers and the Denon AVR. What do more knowledgeable Energy fans think of that price?
It's an amazing price for a 5.1 Veritas "i" setup with a Denon 5805. Just for the speakers alone it's a great deal. The price wasn't the issue, it was the laughable claim that he spent over $27k on it in the first place.

(FYI -- there is no 2.3Ci and 2.3.Ri, you mean the 2.0Ci center and 2.0Ri surrounds)
Yeah, that's what I meant!! All these numbers and letters to keep straight! He who snoozes, looses!

I was able to do something very similar. I sent an offer and it was declined. I waited 4 days, and sent another offer, This was after the seller on ebay had 5 others to choose from.

I simply stated you have had enough offers to know what the market is willing to pay for the V5.2c "Piano Black" and well long story short, we went from 349 to 329 to 319 to 259 with free shipping. I did make mention that the RC-LCR is in higher - demand and he might be confused as to what

the true value of the V5.2C is at this time. Something must have made sense to him from what I said.

Never be afraid to offer someone on ebay a price even if they don't have the make offer icon option open.

Let me be very clear, there was an RC-LCR last 2 weeks that sold for 389 or something similar. I had emailed the seller before the firs single bid and offered her 275 shipped. She agreed but before she could change the listing out,

the first bid came in. So those the bids started rolling after that. Anyone can do what they want on ebay, but the point is ebay is negotiable like just about anything else, and you don't believe that you are in denial. I've practiced this for close to 2 years now

and find that people are very receptive to getting right down to business. Sell it and move on if it makes sense to them.

It would never hurt my feelings if someone replied back with no thanks i think i will just see how the auction plays out, you will never know unless you ask.

anyways, great you negotiated that RC-LCR rosewood EAH9, Im pretty happy with my score on a V5.2C , especially since the piano black seems to be scarce these days.

So very true. Here are the two fundamental laws of negotiation:
  1. You can ask for something.
  2. They can refuse.

or they can refuse the 1st time and then be willing to negotiate after awhile on the market.
I have asked before and been turned down just to turn around and ask again and have my offer accepted
