The only catch is whether it will fit into my new entertainment center that has yet to arrive.

so this is also my situation. i just recieved my c-300 set yesterday. the front base on one of the c-300 was damaged during shipping. talked to wwstereo and hoping to get a new base sent out to me soon. easier then sending the c-300 back and waiting for another (another chance for damage). good thing i came back to check up on this thread--buy.com info. i was about to give up on the c-c100 since i couldn't find them anywhere. anyways, i ordered a c-c100 as well and now wondering what to do with the c-c50.

a question for those with the c-r100s, how are they over the c-50 as rears? i really want to pick up a pair and do 7.1. if 7.1 is not worth it (heard its not as widely supported as 5.1), i could just grab them for my rears and use the 2 c-50 as zone 2 speakers for my workout area -running an onkyo 606?

What do you guys think would be better, the 10 inch polk, or the 8 inch ESW, to go with my, c-c100 center and my c100 mains?

What do you guys use for stands for the rear C-50s?

Also is the C-C100 center necessary for a large room like mine? What can it do that the C-C50 cant?

It can sound better. Basically the woofer size is larger, which will make it a more full and complete sound. For the cheaper price, I say get the c-c100. You won't regret it.

I used macromounts

64deuce, i like that setup. i might just spring for two more c-300s and throw the two c-50 and c-c50 up in the bedroom. 2 c-300s are only 90 bucks difference from two c-r100?...before they run out.

Yeah, the issue is what to do with the extra C-C50.

Also, I need the full stand, from the floor up to the speaker (32 or so inches). With rubber bumpers on the bottom of the stand for the tile floor.

My girlfriend and I just completed our move last weekend and it went fairly smooth (other than the fact that we had to hoist an oversized sofa and king mattress up over the 3rd floor balcony using a set of climbing ropes and about 5 friends....that was exciting!) Anyways on to the Energy stuff....

I just purchased a pair of Energy RC-10s, Energy RC-LCR, and Veritas Stands within the last week. I've got the RC-10s set-up about 14.5 feet apart, and at a 45 degree angle inward with the RC-LCR at center about 3 inches off the ground (i know not ideal on the CC, but will have to do for now). All three are hooked up to a JVC RX702B receiver using Monster Bannana plugs and Monster XP cables. It appears that my Oppo 970HD DVD/CD player no longer works (can't get it to turn on or anything, and when plugged in the little red light just go on and off like its surging). Thus, I've only listened to a bit of radio through the RC-10s, but hopefully I'll have a better idea of how I like them once I get the Oppo up and running or replaced.

You're going to love the RC-10s. They have an awesome sound - really unbelievable given their size. Congrats on the new place.
holy crap are those far apart! mine are about 7 feet apart and i thought that was wide haha. anyways my new rc-10s are about halfway through break-in and im lovin em. I still dont have stands yet because i cant decide on ones i like so they are just sitting on the boxes for now lol. i want to get pics up for everybody but i cant find my cam cable anywhere. might have to borrow the work camera cuz these things are gorgeous i cant stand not showing em off haha.

Just curious, where'd you find the RC-LCR?

I have a pair of both Cherry and Rosenut RC-10's, and I'm looking for an LCR to match either for a bedroom system. The 2nd pair is on PC music duty or being sold.

I bought the LCR off eBay. I loved the cherry and rosenut RCs, but for the price I paid for the Black Ash RC-10s and RC-LCR I can;t complain. I think they look pretty good in my set-up.

I recently purchased the onkyo 606 and the energy act 6 set. I am now looking to either buy the energy c-c50 to replace the center channel from the act 6 or buy a pair of the c-50's and move the act 6 L and R to the very back to complete my 7.1. My question is this......which should I get first? The c-c50 or the c-50's. Both are about the same price and what I dont get now I will get sooner then later. I realize the line is discontinued and should act soon, but any suggestion??

In case anyone wants to see C-series unboxing pictures, I created a set:

I went a little nuts, and yes I know I need to get a sub!

Sorry to hear about your subwoofer (I had one of those once, couldn't wait to get rid of it). Wait to you get a real one, you'll be really impressed then!!!
Jutterb,

No way to move that LCR up one shelf? Its really too low where it is now. Good looking speakers though.

Looks like you have room for a much bigger TV too!
How do the rc-10 work with port plugs? I really have to put them in, as i'll place the speakers 30cm far from the back wall.
Is there ONLY a quantity reduction, or also a quality loss?

And, though I preferred the Take setup overall when paired with the AVR-2700, the AVR-3808 paired with the C-100s is definitely better. I haven't tested the Takes with the 3808 and do not plan to. I'm completely impressed with the C-100s and 3808 now.

I haven't ran Audyssey, yet. I want to finish my acoustic treatments first, but music and HT both sound fantastic. The only place I can still prefer the Takes is vocals. But, it's much closer now and the other advantages of the larger C-100s definitely win out. Can't wait to finish the treatments and run Audyssey!

I finally got around to running Audyssey. I must say I'm frustrated with the results. It's like it gave me back everything I liked about the Take setup and took away everything I liked about the C100 setup. Highs and vocals came alive, almost overly bright. The mid-bass is gone. The bass is much less pronounced as well.

But, when turning Audyssey off, it now sounds flat in comparison

C-100 Front L/R were set to 40Hz - small
C-C100 Center set to 40Hz - small
L/R Surround at 60Hz (I believe) - small
Surr Back R/L at 100Hz - small
Sub set to 80Hz (& -12db)

The EQ graphs for all of the satellites show a dip around 100 - 200Hz area. I guess this explains the non-existent mid-bass?

I bumped the sub to 120Hz and raised the sub level to around -9db. That helped a little.

I ended up setting Audyssey to "Auddysey Bypass L/R" mode. This gave me back some of the mids that are missing, but left the surrounds eq'd so I still get a lot of the highs in 7 channel music. I'm just out of luck for stereo

Any ideas?

30 cm's (or about 1 foot) is fine actually. You don't need to plug the port, you only need to do it if the speaker is going to be right up against the wall (within a couple of inches). One foot should be enough room.

I'd definitely plug the RCLCR in Jutterb's setup though. Anytime you have a rear ported speaker in a cabinet I'd do that.

Yeah, don't use it.

Mine showed up today. I didn't get to open the box yet but it says it's black on the box. This speaker is a lot bigger then I thought it would be. I'm going to need a shelf under the monitor just for this thing. I'm still wondering if I should have just bought the C-C50 instead. Time will tell I guess.

Mine is still in the "Order Status: Proccesing" phase and I ordered it Saturday afternoon. Should I be worried, or is this normal? The order doesn't show up on buy.con's order history, but it does show up when i link to buy.com from the order-lookup screen. I ordered it 3-5 day shipping express. Just wondering if I need to act as I never got an email saying "it has been shipped" like some of you have.
