Nice. I too ordered the center from buy.com, on Wednesday, it is estimated to arrive next Tuesday. I also ordered a pair of C-300 from wwstereo, which got here today. I'm so surprised it got here this quick, though I live in VA and it was shipped from PA.

These things are huge, bigger and heavier than what I thought they'd be. This is not a complaint though, very satisfied with the purchase. Though I won't be able to hook 'em up till sometime in May.

I got the RC-30s from audio advice today. The first speaker looks brand new. I cant find any kind of blemishes on it. The second speaker has me kind of worried. The first thing I noticed with it is that the base was loose. I had to tighten it down. After doing so, I set the speaker upright and was giving it a visual inspection. The rubber around the speakers have rub marks all over them like the speaker was faced down and slid across the room. Its not as bad as it sounds, just small blemishes on the speakers which is why its enough to bother me. I have not been able to test them since I dont have a receiver yet (waiting for the onky 875).

Nice deal for someone who is looking for these.

I paid $170 for the HD-Sub12. They want $229.00 for the PA-120. My math works out to $59.00 and I like the look of the HD-Sub12 much better then then the PA-120. So I guess it's up to you. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I have a very similar setup to you Adam.C and got a BIC H100 and really like it. Very clean unboomy bass.

Yea a comparison would be sweet lol. Im gonna see how this setup sounds without a sub (being in an apartment). I dont really know what to expect from the lows/bass with the c-300s. Ill just set them the full range and see what they got.

You will be surprised at the amount of base that you get from the C-C100 as well. Plugs make a big difference with that one. My stand may be elevating the bass a bit.

Speaking of stands, I was wondering if it is a possibility that the slightly hollow/resonating sound that I am getting from my center Take FPS is maybe because it is placed on a wooden fireplace mantle. The L/R stands have rubber feet when placed verticle, but the center stand (when horizontal) does not really have that. I don't know if there is some antivibration strip that I can place between the stand and the mantle... if it is even worth the trouble. The center is also recessed about 2" back from the end of the mantle, so I don't know if that would make a difference with deflection.

When I called Energy, they said that it should perform at a lower frequency than 120/150...and is a better performer than the RC-Mini.

would the take classic 5.1 speakers give me any idea how the c300 / c 100s sound? im setting up a classic for my friend next week but still trying to decide what i want for my own set up, its between infinity 362 which i can audition or the c300's which i cant.

i understand there's a huge difference in a floor speaker and a satellite but i was just wondering if like the highs and such were similar. i.e. if i enjoy the classics will i love the c300s?

Bass has nothing to do with SPLs. You can have a system with a well integrated subwoofer and you will have a great system. You can even have a system with a subwoofer tuned down a bit on the volume side and you'll still hear it. It makes a huge difference in both movies and music. I just switch vs Straight and Pure Direct on my receiver and immediatly notice the diffrence. And believe me, it makes all the difference to me. Sound is complete that way.

It's all about driver sizes. Even at low SPLs, your 6.5" driver won't necessarily be able to reproduce the lower notes.

Yea, I know without a decent sub im not gonna get the lower freqs. Im definitely gonna get a sub, just not sure if I should go with a 8" or 10" sub now and upgrade later when I get into a house next year.

If it where me instead of buying another sub next year why don't you buy the sub you really want now. Just keep the gain down. That way you'll be good to go next year and don't have to spend extra money on a new sub after buying you're house. Just my 2 cents

No, IMO I don't think so because the frequency response is so much different between the 2. If you are impressed with the Take Classic 5.1, you probably will def be impressed with the C-series. I have not heard either, but know the strengths and limitations of my Take FPS.

Subs are important; however, according to my liking I think that the front 3 should be able to properly produce frequencies to atleast 80hz. You need the sub for impact and effects, but the speakers have to hold their own also....thus, why most of us AVS peeps are not Bose boyz.

Looking at your photo the acoustics of the layout could definitely be an issue. As I said before, the Take FPS I got for my friend works wonderfully as a low-profile center channel, w/ a 90Hz crossover, despite a less-than-optimal placement.

Just as an experiment, try setting up two of the FPS + a sub somewhere else in the room, just in a 2.1 setup. Give them some breathing room and a good stereo spacing, like on a desk or counter or something, and see how they sound just playing stereo music x'd over to the sub at 90Hz or so. If they sound much better, you know it's probably the acoustics of your mantle layout....

Congrats Adam! Please don't forget to update us with a review, especially wrt the C-R100's along the back wall. There isn't enough feedback on the C-R100, and many of the folks on this thread have the "couch against the back wall" setup so your impressions of this arrangement will be very helpful.

yea Im excited. Im getting the Denon 1909 for $392 brand new . I think ima just go with the PA-120. F IT!

Oh and Im trying to decide what Blu Ray player to get. Its either the Panasonic BD60k or the Samsung BD-P3600. I like that the Samsung has a wireless dongle so it makes it easier to connect online. But the panny got nice reviews.

PS3 as a Blu-ray player has a lot of advantages.

I'm a big fan of the panasonic blu-ray players. I had a bd55, and also a bd30. Very good players. I now own a pioneer, and I'm very happy with that. I owned a ps3, and didn't like it very much as a blu-ray player.

Why? most of the artifact problems have been fixed with firmware updates and it remains the only player that can always be updated....what problems did you have?

I didn't like the fact that I couldn't properly use my harmony 1000 remote. I didn't like the dongle thing, and I could never turn it off with the remote. I also thought the fan noise was too loud compared to a stand-alone bllu-ray player. The upscaling is a bit better on my stand-alone players as well. I also like the fact that I can bitstream from my blu-ray player if I need to use post processing of my receiver. I do this sometimes based on the mood I'm in.

Why can't other blu-ray players be updated? I have mine hooked to my router, and it gets updates automatically online.

I never used the ps3 for games, so I thought I would buy a player which is cheaper, and do everything I wanted it to do.

The $20 Sony remote has worked flawlessly for me for a couple of years. I have never heard the fan from the PS3 unless my ear was 3" from it. Upscaling standard DVD's is better on my PS3 than on my other DVD player that was supposedly designed to do that. LPCM is as good as it gets. Lets see, you can surf the web, rent or purchase both SD and HD movies if you do not want to run to the video store. It also connects to a wireless router if you do not want another Cat5 cable running around the room. Just because it happens to play video games as well does not make it an ineffective Blu-ray player.

As far as the sony remote, I can't do that. I have a remote that will control lights, fireplaces, xbox 360, and everything. It better control my blu-ray player as well. It's really inconvenient when you have to switch between two remotes after you've had a harmony for a long time. LPCM, is a matter of preference. With a stand-alone player, i can do either bitstream or LPCM based on my mood if I want post processing or not. I also have my blu-ray player connected wirelessly through my wireless router.

The rental thing is personal preference. I have a huge selection of HD movie rentals through xbox, and even netflix instant streaming, but for the most part if they're movies I really want to watch, It's going to be on blu-ray. I need the quality. Basically, if I'm going to pay for it, I'm going to watch it's going to be on blu-ray,especially since I have netflix. However, some movies I'll watch for free on netflix if the movie isn't reallly something I want to watch.

The upscaling may be decent on a ps3, but it's not on the same level as these new stand-alone players which are also much cheaper than a ps3.

I picked up a brand new panasonic bd55 which had internal decoding, bd live, ethernet capability, and multi channel audio pre-outs for $150. 0 fan noise compared to the ps3. I'm not saying the fan noise was loud, but it's noticable in my house during quiet scenes.

If I'm like most people, surfing the web on the ps3 is a pain to me. I use a 2.4 lb netbook for that.

IMO, I think the PS3 makes a wonderful blu-ray player for people who want to play games, but for people who don't plan to game on it, why spend the extra money when a cheaper blu-ray player does everything I want it to do including working with my remote?
