I think they were probably auditions from earlier in the day. I figure to make it to Simon, Randy and Paula, you probably have to audition a few times in front of other panels. I'd presume those are all recorded as well.

I assume that those producers then feed the star panel with information about the constants they'll see.

I'd guess that they were told to invite the tan girl's mom into the room.

I've always through it would be very interesting to have a ringer go through the process to see what the judges throught of his/her performance. I don't know how you could ensure that the judges didn't recognize the person, but it would definitely be interesting. And to your specific point, I think watching Assleigh standing there while Simon lays down the law would be TV worth paying for.

Last night: more classic comedy, especially the two "orange-preneur" Mensa candidates. I'll admit that the Cosmic Coaster was mildly interesting, though it seemed to weigh 10 pounds and would probably tip your drink over if you spoke too loudly; but would anybody here actualy hire Paradise Cleaners to come to their house? You'd think Flawless the Clown would have learned his own slogan by now.

I thought it was very ironic the Inventor dude sang the scarecrow song from Wizard of Oz. That had me LMAO.

Best song selection was the "Constance" song.

Howard Stern had Simon in a year or two back. He brought out the guy from Nickelback and didn't tell Simon who he was, but that he wanted Simon to judge him.

IIRC, Simon panned him.

because Simon actually tells the truth. No political correct junk or not wanting to hurt a person's feelings by stating the facts! Refreshing!

What amazes me is that these people just CANNOT sing and they think they are the next Whitney houston. That "Very Talented" guy that looked like a girl has been lied to all his life. For once instead of the normal "your so talented, your so unique and you go for it," Junk that most people feed a doofus like that He got a real evaluation of his overbloated opinion of his talent.

HE STUNK! His unique look was weird and his singing voice was terrible. The thing that kills me is rather it is this guy or anyone else on this show it is the judges who are idiots prejudice and have the problem. After all it apparaently takes more that 3 experts to undo all the years and years of hearing from the parents and friends the false hope that they have talent and should just keep trying.

What a great show!

If Terrell Brittenum watched his performance on television's "American Idol" Tuesday night, he did so from the Shelby County Jail.

Brittenum and his twin brother, Derrell Brittenum, both of southeast Memphis, appeared on the show. And both had outstanding criminal warrants when their performances aired.

They're charged in Rockdale County, Ga., with forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud.

The case involves the purchase of a 2005 Dodge Magnum in June -- allegedly by using another man's identity.

Terrell Brittenum has been in jail here since Jan. 10. His brother is still on the loose but is expected to turn himself in, sheriff's spokesman Steve Shular said.

Fox Broadcasting Co. spokesman Scott Grogin refused to comment on the twins, or their status as contestants.

"We do not comment on the personal lives of our show participants," he said.

The 28-year-olds' Chicago auditions were taped in mid-September and portions of the show have already been taped in Hollywood.

The pair made it through the initial audition.

Georgia's charges against the pair, who attended Hamilton High School, were discovered by accident during a routine traffic stop.

Memphis police chanced upon Derrell Brittenum Oct. 30 at a BP station at 2134 Lamar, according to the charges.

Officers ran the tags on the 2005 Dodge Magnum and found the vehicle was stolen, and that the brothers had arrest warrants.

Derrell Brittenum was arrested and gave a typed statement to police, saying he knew he was in a stolen car.

His brother was arrested Nov. 2 on a fugitive charge.

Terrell Brittenum had given his brother another person's financial information, allowing him to buy the $23,175 car in June, according to Georgia's charges.

Both men were able to bond out in early November.

And since they refused to be extradited to Georgia, authorities there got a governor's warrant for them to be re-arrested for an extradition hearing.

Terrell Brittenum has a Shelby County arrest record for traffic violations and a 2000 misdemeanor citation for disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. The exposure charge was amended to disorderly conduct and he paid a $50 fine.

Derrell Brittenum was arrested in 1998 for theft over $500 and in 2000 for contempt of court and passing bad checks, court records show.

The extradition hearing date hasn't been set.

What idiots. If you're going to use someone elses identity to steal a car, why not at least get it loaded?

That's good, because the nickelback guy sounds like he's eternally constipated.

My two favorite moments from Wednesday night:

1 - The first audition who said he was a combination of Usher and Michael Jackson who was so confident. When they told him "no," that instantaneous look of shock on his face was priceless. Not making light of his feelings, but it was just funny when he got the cold smack of reality.

2 - The final contestant, the boy who looked, talked, and dressed like a girl but was so surprised when people thought he was a girl. When Randy asked, "you're a girl, right?" I almost fell off the couch. I loved the guy's (?) speech when he walked off. It's racist and bigoted to turn him down because he sang a song from a woman's perspective? Hilarious!!

Did he deserve to be panned?

I was surprised Simon said yes to Brokeback Cowboy. I too heard some potential in his voice, but I doubt if he'll be able to train himself quickly enough to make it far in Hollywood. (Or in Pasadena, or El Segundo, or wherever "Hollywood" is this season.)

They just felt bad and wanted to give the guy a free trip. Maybe expose him to more than immediate family and his turkeys.

Look at it this way... Kelly Clarkson has sold millions more records than Nickelback. I personally have never even heard of Nickelback although I've probably heard one of their songs and not know who did it.

Plus Nickelback is a band. AI is looking for individual singers, not bands. Just think of how many excellent rock bands have had mediocre lead singers through the decades. I'd say almost all of them. That's why they needed to be in band.

i would have panned him too. horrible, scratchy voice. very annoying

yeah i had to rewatch it again this morning before work. you know, face your demons and all that. man was that disturbing. i'll tell you though (and i didn't notice it the first time around) when they started to play the crying game song for him at the end i almost fell off my couch in a fit of laughter. now THAT was great entertainment. no wonder it's the highest rated show on tv.

i believe that guy/girl scene calls for an hd screen capture so everyone reading this thread can be reminded of it. anyone have one???

Actually it was Josie Scott, lead singer of Saliva. At the time he and Chad Kroeger (from Nickelback) had the number one song in the country with "Hero."

missed that crying game song the first time around thats some funny sh*t. almost feel bad for this kid, but o well, he cant sing for sh8t, his family should be locked up for abuse for encouraging him. For that matter, the tan chicks mother should definatly be in jail for raising that girl like that, if she doesnt get a visit from social services something is wrong

Most people are brainwashed by media hype ... into thinking the "stars" can actually sing ... some can ... some can't ... most are mediocre ... and MANY are manufactured in hi-tech studios ...

ps - I am a studio engineer, and could make your cat sound decent ... with enough major label money.

i don't know what it is. its like a morbid fascination. i've lived and worked in the biggest city on earth (nyc) and of course i've run into this sort of thing a few times. but i was never able to stare and gawk like i can from the comfort of my living room...

A little off topic but since when is new york city the biggest city in the world. By what measure, certainly not land or population in today's world but maybe in the past

Back on topic tha girl (sorry guy) just gave me the chills when I saw him. Even my wife couldn't tell what he was. My dog actually covered his eyes :D
