Changing the bulb might solve the problem, if only temporarily, because there is the possibility that the replacement
bulb used in wakka's set was defective to begin with.
I guess an additional bit of information would be to know if a bulb replacement temporarily or permanently solves the problem. (Hence, the bulb is at least good out of the box.) But like I said, who wants to spend the cash to find out it (may) temporarily solve the problem. And if the bulb is the problem who knows if the replacement is just yet another bad one.
Also, I noticed the Qualia's use a different lamp part. The Qualia does not exhibit the blob problem. But there are many other differences between the sets (e.g. chips, cabinet, light engine) that may account for why there is no problem in the Qualia while there is one with the SXRDs.
Wouldn't it be nice if Sony would cough up and admit to this problem? What are the odds?
