^I was using the used with Heli MKI CC c200 with matching Heli 400 MkI and the integration of the front was seemless. I then upgraded the fronts to MS4s and felt OK "getting by" with the c200 but had my eye out for the Euponia CS4 CC. Stereo was fab of course, but I noticed MC was not as well integrated across the front soundstage as when I had the Helis.

I just recently upgraded from MS4s to MS5s which came with their matching CS4. The front soundstage is now nothing short of amazing!

I may consider replacing the Heli w200 surrounds at some point if I find them demo/used/cheap. But the surround bubble to the sides is already detailed and immersive, certainly as good as it ever was with any of the other Dali front speaker combinations. IMO surrounds are just not as crucial to have an exact match and one can economize/mismatch a bit there, rather than on the CC. I believe any of your Helis would do very well as surrounds. But as you're designing a top-notch stereo and MC system, it makes sense to exact match across the fronts-either all Euphonia or all Epicon.

Just sold the Mentor 2's. Enjoyed them for 2 and 3/4ths of a year, but time to see what else is out there in the audio horizon.

That epicon center is nice, I would love to play with the entire set for a 7.1. I see the epicon 2 is missing the ribbon tweeter. Have you had a chance to listen to it? Does the missing ribbon effect the sound?
I am using the C200 MKII for my center, though I do have a pair of 300 MK1 for surrounds. Everything else is MKII.

Hi smile.gif

Yes i have heard the Epicon 2 directly on a setup side by side with the Epicon 6. And i can tell you that the Epicon 2 is a killer, when you switch from 6 to 2 it`s hard to hear that you actually have switch
Yesterday at the local pusher there where a event, presenting the new epicon 6 and 2.It was played on an Classe setup, and damn that was a smooth sound

So i guess i the only difference will be the Sound Pressure between 2 and 6 when you are playing and of course, if you use it in a HT setup i dont think the Epicon 2 will forfill your dreams as a F L/R setup if you have a largere area, but for a small flat i think i would more go for the Epicon 2 rather than 6..

But agian, i was very suprised to hear how much sound that this "small" bookshelf actually was cable of producing with out sounding pressed and any time

FWIW, I finally got a pair of Dali speakers.
I first heard the 400’s in 2006 when looking for speakers for my dedicated HT\Music room.
At the time I thought “these are it”, but in order to assemble a balanced surround system I just couldn’t spend at retail what it would have taken to get 3 of them in order to sacrifice the rest of what I needed.
Last week I managed to luck into a bloody unreal deal on a pair of flawless cherry wood 800’s for a 2 channel system in my living room. I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse, literally.
They’re not MKIIs but the originals.
I haven’t done extensive listening yet and I’m searching for the right power amp(s) and have ordered some decent speaker cables, but dang, these things sing.
I know it’s a rash thing to state in the world of audio but, my search for speakers is over.

The Dali owners thread is pretty short by AVS standards and I think I know why, once you get the ones that suit you, the search is over. cool.gif

^totally agree. My Helicons love Parasound halo amps. Great speaker and even better sound.

Hi!

I listened to the Dali Zensor 1 and Zensor 5, both separately though, for my starter setup! They sounded very nice to me, more "musical", superb clarity and more natural in anything at the price!

I have a small room, small listening distance (10'x14', 7') and am planning to use a setup for 60-40 music and movies.

Given my restricted budget(and given that I have a Marantz NR1402 AVR and will use my old speakers for surrounds), I can either look at

Zensor 1+ Zensor Vokal + Velodyne Impact 10 sub

Zensor 5+ Zensor Vokal

Which of the above setups would likely suit my room more?
Will the vocals through the Zensor 1 be thinner than the 5?

I heard the 1s for a short while and I personally thought the bass extension was quite natural and superb for clarity...I just hope it wont be bright with Marantz sound?

Waiting for an input so I can buy this weekend!
Thanks!

Congrats on your Dali Milt, I owned a pair of 400 original versions and they are amazing in every form of this hobby, 2 Ch, HT....
Wish I had enough space to have keep them, again congrats and happy listening.

The euphonias are amazing. I was lucky enough to find the CS4 available with a pair of MS5s, all in Alpi. Though used, all are in pristine condition. And they were a reasonable driving distance from home.

So have faith and keep an eye on Agon and USAudioMart, my friend.

Hey SOM

You still have an 7.1 system, or is it 5.1?

Hey Dan! I still have the 2 pairs of Helicon w200 (direct-firing) as surrounds and DSX wides. They seem to timbre-match perfectly to the Euphonias. With the 2 subs, I'd call it 7.2 (DSX wides). The wides are great for film but I don't really like em for music.

I don't think I'd get much out of back surrounds as MLP is only a couple feet off the back wall. And I don't have space on the front wall with the big new TV biggrin.gif But at some point I might consider some more little Dalis so I could experience Neo:X.

Here's an old pick that shows more of the room including my "little Dalis" on their stands. biggrin.gif HT1.jpg 1267k .jpg file

^65" Sammy 8000 series. Lovin it. smile.gif
It is hard to judge size in the pic -those MS5s are 50" tall (!), the CS4 is 27" wide on top of the new cab which is 72" wide.

Beautiful. And the pj/flat screen combo is very well done. That's something I also considered.

But as my room is only 16' from front to back wall, I opted instead to mount the TV on a capable swing arm that easily extends 38" off the wall. When against the wall the TV is unobtrusive and is a good "TV" size for news. When extended for movies the screen sits just behind the front edge of the CC and the viewing distance is reduced to 10'.

Thnx. I used the "Center Channel" space of the Standout Designs cab to allow easy access to my shiny disc players. The bottom player is a Denon DBPA100/4010 univers BluRay (MSRP$2.5K) I purchased at a huge discount specifically for the DenonLink4th connection that matches the DL connection on my Denon A100 AVR. DL improves music fidelity from CDs, SACD, DVDA by jitter reduction when sending a digital signal to the AVR. Because I apply Audyssey to all sources, and that DSP is done while the signal is in PCM digital format, I don't use the player's DACs. The player is connected to the AVR only by DL (Cat5cable) and HDMI. That player is not 3D capable and is slow loading for BluRay, so I now use it exclusively to play stereo and MC music. It replaced an Oppo BDP83SE and was a nice one-box solution until I got a 3D TV.

On top of the Denon is a decent Samsung 3D BluRay player I picked up locally used off Craigslist with some 3D movies for $90 when I got the 3D TV. I use it for both 3D and non3D BluRay movies. It is connected by HDMI to the AVR.

Love the set up nice and clean, it's pretty difficult for me to keep my set up toy free these days, so I envy the clutter free environment.

Congrats on the TV, I have a 64 Sammy 7000 series they're great but I still prefer my old Kuro over the Sammy.
