Mentor 2 sold
Couple of friends own 400 MK1 and 2.
Other friend owns Euphonia 4's
I also now own Epicon6's matched with a Parasound A21 and also an A51.
The Epicon's are towed 5 degrees in. Straight on the sound stage suffered. I noticed the same thing at a friends house with his new Epicon 6's too. 5 degrees in and the speaker disappears. He is using the Parasound A51.
Bottom end is tight, accurate and very good, same with everything else. The major difference is detail, I hear a lot more information and clarity from the epicons than any other Dali speaker. I ran Audyssey on my Marantz 8801 and also ran the Pro kit on it. Both rendered 100HZ down. Off the 8801 100HZ was -17 to -20. Pro kit was around -5 to -10. The rest was pretty flat adjustment. So I bypassed the Audyssey on the front LR.
When they are setup correctly, there is no comparison in my opinion. Also with my friend, he loved them enough to dump his Helicon MK2's and go for the 5 channel Epicon setup. I will be doing the same. The only way I would use an Helicon would be in my surrounds and I hope to fix that with the Epicon 2's over the next 2 years. Also one last point, they image like madmen! Totally disappear. If you get to hear them correctly powered and dialed in, OMG.
IMHO, they really do sound that much better.
