Well I forgot that my TV tuner acts as interferance to my vip622 when I leave it on the same channel as the 622 (don't understand that at all). Changed the TV tuner over to something really high and flipped back to the 622 and the signal is up to 87. That's solid enough, won't lose that.

Well, that answered my question about the repeaters carrying the digital signal. Thanks! Hopefully I will get something when I get home tonight.

My KXVA signal is now in the low 90s so they're still slowly raising up the signal strength.

My brother lives in a higher part of town here in Sweetwater and is getting a piece of KXVA, but the picture is so heavily pixelated it's unwatchable. I'm in a slightly lower area and still not getting anything from KXVA.

I did a scan with the internal tuner on my 22" Visio and it is getting a good picture on 15.1. However, a scan with my DirecTV receivers does not pick it up at all. Strange, since all the sets share the same antenna. I'll keep trying.

I experienced the same thing.

Every once and a while the signal goes away for a minute or two and then comes back. My signal strength is show 98 now.

I don't think the DTV receivers actually look for the carriers. I just reinitialized my off-air antenna on my DTV receiver and it asks for the zip then acts like it downloads something. It came up with 12-3, which hasn't been on air in a while and 17-1 that I could not get though the TV tuner. It did not get 15-1, so I'm thinking a database somewhere needs to be updated before we can get 15-1 on the DTV rcvrs.

Same thing for me...

I agree 100%. I just did a scan on my DTV receiver and came up with the same thing. The DTV receiver doesn't look for the carriers. Something needs to be done on DTV's end.

I just posted on DTV forums regarding the issue. While I was there, I saw a similar post that ended up having the answer. Apparently DTV receives its local channel lineup from a service called zap2it. It is them who needs to update their database and DTV has no control over them. So I sent an e-mail to them (feedback@zap2it.com) asking how soon they would be updating their database for stations that transitioned today, naming KXVA specifically. Y'all might follow suit.

Well it properly scans to the Dish reciever but the reciever doesn't know what to call the station and doesn't have any guide info for it (yet).

I kept it on for AI since I knew that show 'should' be HD... well it's not HD in this house. Oh well, mabey that's yet to come.
I called them and talked to the "experts" they said they would send it up to a higher level and it could take 48 to 72 hours to fix and to keep trying to go through the setup over the next two days. Also on my tv it shows up as 15.1 but the directv receiver i have in my bedroom brings up the channel as 15.24 but with very low sound.

Well, I am getting all the channels digital now. I have an omnidirectional antenna that adjusting it I sacrificed a little signal from KTXS to get 50% on fox. I don't know about HD because I don't think american idol is HD.
I was hoping to see what AI looked like in HD but I'm just getting it in SD.
If I manually add 1291 or 1151 or 1201 to my list of channels and scan for signal strength I get fairly high numbers but when I select those channels to view I get no signal detected. I am using Windows Media Center. Any suggestions? I was hoping KXVA quality would improve today. Thanks.

American Idol is broadcast in HD on KDFW in Dallas (recorded from Dish). Since it was in SD (480i) on KXVA, I'm assuming the OTA signal is just digital SD. Oh well, looks like I will just keep my Dallas locals thru Dish.

By the way, signal strength for KXVA in Brownwood (in town) is 65 and drops out occasionally.

Just did a new channel search, I'm getting 3.1 KFDX from Wichita Falls, also getting 5.1 NBC, 11.1 KTVT CBS, and 13.1 KERA. Also getting several other channels that I have no idea where they are. This is crazy, and very cool. I hope it holds through daylight hours, but I doubt it.

Holy crap...KTVT and KERA are out of DFW metroplex! Where do you live exactly?
Yeah, I did a channel scan and didn't pull anything new in other than KXVA.

Anyway, according to this:

http://www.reporternews.com/news/200...-goes-digital/

KXVA will be HD (it wasn't last night) and KIDZ will continue in analogue indefinitely.

The atmospheric conditions appear just right this morning to receive signals that we normally couldn't. My antenna is pointed at Abilene and I'm getting some Austin stations off the back side. I picked them up a couple of months ago but they quickly went away when conditions changed.

I can't get 15.1 ota on my tivo HD. I have done many channel scans and it never shows up. When I try to manually put in 15.1 it switches to 3.1 and I get nothing. Has anyone encountered this? BTW I can get 15.1 on my other tv's just fine.

Your question is address in post numbers 785 though 793. Basically, Direct's tuners don't operate like most others and needs an update. Just wait a bit or it to happen.
I don't have direct tv just rabbit ears. Does it have to do with the channel information that tivo sends to my tivo.
It sounds like the same thing that is happening with the Directv boxes. They use a service that stores a database of all channels available and that database is not currently updated with the new information.

15.1 is there and as soon as that database information is updated your Tivo should work just fine. I wouldn't think that it would take them more than a week.
Sorry, when you said Tivo I assumed it was with Direct since they used to be associated and the fact it sounded like the same issue.

Back to just two digital channels this morning. I had about 25 digital channels coming in at 80-85 percent strength last night. Conditions were right for some serious signal skip, I even managed to automatically set my clock on the DVD recorder to KERA PBS 13.1 . Still no KXVA today, are they broadcasting at all?

Don't know, out of town today myself so can't really monitor.
Yes, checked them 2-3 times today and they were on air each time. Still 480i ...
480i, and too weak to get a signal much more than a stones throw beyond the Abilene city limits. Useless.
