It's about time you spilled the beans...

While I have no doubt that some high def standard will be in my future, do you envision the high def 7.1 (freakin awesome by the way ) having the stadard def DVD version on it as well? I just question the future of HD right now. Doesn't seem like anyone is completely sure what will happen and when for the HTPC.

volley,

Right now the standards and licensing rules for the discs mean they will each be stand alone versions for SD and HD.

You're right there are conflicting reports of who's got what and what requires what.

Needless to say we're working with companies to make sure our discs are some of the first material out there in both Hi-definition video and audio.

Are you releasing on both new formats, or just one of them?

Don't know yet. For now I'm sure we'll get Blu-ray out. A lot depends on what happens over the next two months. I don't want to get into a big war over which is better. Right now, blu-ray works into our pipeline almost seamlessly and it allows for bigger Mbps so it should look fantastic.

Much more than that I can't say because we are working deals with both formats.

Do you know when this intro will be ready? Do you think it will be ready by July?

pcdoctor,

It should be yes. We're waiting on some licensed content so whenever we get the yes or no, we can move on.

Hi Richard

Received my copy of your DVD the other day and finally had a chance to load it up on my 6 or 7 year old Toshiba DVD player, and couldn't get it to work. The player kept saying disk error. Took the dvd upstairs and ran it in my cheap $39 Walmart DVD player and it worked fine. Any suggestions?
By the way, when I loaded the player upstairs, which is just run through the TV in the bedroom, I guess I had the volume a little loud and when it started to play it sounded terrific, even without stereo speakers. Unfortunately I had my 2 year old twins with me and one went screaming from the room and the other little guy was in need of a new diaper several minutes later. An hour later I still had to keep telling them the robot had gone to bed.
Hope it doesn't have the same effect on guests when they first hear it in the new theatre

The old Toshiba may not be compatible with DVD-R discs. Check the manual if you still have it.

JoshZ is on the mark. That's usually the problem people run in to. A DVD player that old will likely not play DVD-R. Great reason to upgrade though.

Thank you for the comments regarding audio. What's been fun, until YOUR KIDS ruined it, is that most children love CeRT and mimick his movements on screen. Just kidding about your kids.

We'll actually have soundtrack music created for the next intros.

Thanks guys. I'm sure you're right about the old player , which will be replaced when I finish the basement theatre. And I'm also sure the kids will grow to love the robot as well!! Can hardly wait to see the intro as it's meant to be played so I think I'll switch the bedroom and family room dvd players tonight.

7.1 huh... sounds cool. I'll be waiting.

I have a question. I am going to order the custom intro but don't want any repeats. So if I type "Welcome to Jeff & Kim's Home Theatre..." I won't have "Welcome to our Welcome to Jeff & Kim's.." Does this make seance? Also can I pay via Paypal or is it CC only? just wondering. Yes I am a newb but I learn fast

Cheers,
Jeff

We accept paypal. You can choose it as a payment choice at checkout. you will not have duplicates. Some people have theaters that are just Welcome to and some have Welcome to the. I just say we give you that so you don't have to worry about the spacing if you're close to 55 characters. The spot at which you put them in isn't smart enough to figure out what words you're typing, just how many characters have been typed.

In the notes section of the checkout you can write it exaclty how you want it, but just put what you want in between that in the space provided.

Look forward to your order.

OK so in the custom message box I would type
"The Luxurious Home Theatre
Presented by Jeff & Kim"
Then during check out in the note section I would type it this way?
"Welcome to

The Luxurious Home Theatre
Presented by Jeff & Kim

Enjoy the Show!"

Is this correct? just want to make sure I'm doing this the right way.

Cheers,
Jeff

That is correct. And since you've typed it here I already know what you want.

OK after discussing it over with my wife we decided not to have the "family name" thing. So we went with something that is close to both of our hearts/interests. A Lord of the Rings theme. this is what we chose...

Welcome to the...

Mirkwood Cinema

...Enjoy the Show!

I'll be ordering today.

Cheers,
Jeff

I got the CeRT intro with the special AVS price and it came in two days. The intro is awesome, sound and video is really good and the kids love CeRT. I really wanted the DVD, so I could have the "Let's all go to the lobby" which really brings back some memories. The Intro is well worth it, much better than any other Intro I have picked up.

I can't wait for the next one.

If anyone is holding back, DON'T! This has got to be the greatest kept secret on the web for a custom (or standard) home theater intro. Sure the online demo looks nice, and the photos even better, but until you see (and HEAR!) the actual DVD on the big screen, you have no idea what you are missing!! The audio alone is out of this world!! Coupled with the fantastic animation, and you've got an intro that you'll be proud to show off! It's also a great way to demo your surround setup.

I can't say enough about this DVD and truly believe that Richard is not charging enough. He's got a gem on his hands, a loyal following, and what's in the works looks amazing!

Bring it on Richard!

Richard, That's great news! I had no idea I would be getting it so quick.

Thank you kindly,
Jeff
