Well, my GRAMMA arrived, I set my DSP-3400 on that bad boy platform and I did reduce resonance in my living room. I have suspended hardwood floors. I still have to re-run my Audyssey XT though. So far so good! My 3400 does look cool sitting up on the GRAMMA

Two would be insane in my living room. If I caught a deal on one, maybe. Lol!!!

What do you consider to be a good deal, I live in Philly and am looking to get a SVS PB13-ultra so I'm going to need to get rid of my dsp-3400

My current living room setup could not handle another DSP-3400. It would be overkill.

My gramma came yesterday so I threw it in the mix and recalibrated using audyssey and found that the rumble my sub used to create is gone. It is louder and tighter but I guess the trade off for that is the rumble like in unstoppable when trains roll up or explosions. The bathtub dunk scene in inception sounded much better tho, louder and clearer.

Can't ask for anything more than that. The rumble was probably due to feedback via the floor into the sub, especially if that floor is wood.

What you are hearing now is better bass without the rooms walls and floor adding their own frequencies into the sound. Give your ears time to adjust.

Went with a Subdude HD (15"x15")to put underneath my Velodyne DLS-R 5000 (18"x19") which left me with just about 2" of overhang from my Velo. Have to admit when I left the store that I bought this from I was thinking to myself " Holy sh#t, I just paid $70 for a piece of wood wrapped in fabric with chunks of foam glued to it" I got home and popped my Velo onto it, put in transformers and jumped to the ironhide slo-mo sweep which ALWAYS rattles my entire home from top to bottom as well as a few neighbors houses as well So...I crank up my Anthem MRX to the "Unleash hell" volume that I like to enjoy my cinamatic adventures to and hit play with my fingers crossed that I just didn't blow $70 on a doorstop,Watched the scene..........and then I picked my jaw back up from the floor. UNFRICKINGBELIEVABLE! Nothing...not a shake rattle or roll from the entire place! The sub sounds FAR more clear,direct and articulate, it was nothing short of mindboggling how this works so ridiculously well. To say I was impressed by this product is a gross understatement, I was 110% blown away at how well this works. Long and short I would have paid $100 for this doorstop

I received my Gramma and SpeakerDude HD in the mail from Sweetwater on Saturday. However, my Onkyo 3008 decided to take a crap on me that same day. So i am now sending the 3008 back for a replacement. So I still have no idea how the Gramma sounds

Just ordered a Gramma for my HSU VTF2-MK3. I am wondering if I should sit the HSU directly on the Gramma on its 4x brass cone feet, or should I place some coins under the cone feet and on the Gramma?

I would think it doesn't matter as long as the subwoofer itself isn't hitting something. You are just trying to isolate the subwoofer from the floor.

One reason for spiking the sub is to keep the cabinet absolutely rigid and planted, allowing only the driver to move. That is lost when using the Gramma. Another reason for using spikes is to drain the cabinet energy into the floor, while not allowing energy to return to the cabinet due to the tremendous pressure per square inch each spike presents. This coupling effect is counter to the decoupling the Gramma affords.

As 96redformula said, it won't matter. I would be more interested in the difference between the spikes alone, then the Gramma alone. The only reason to use the Gramma is if your flooring and/or walls are contributing to the sound.

So does it not matter if the sub is longer than the platform? That won't effect the performance of the SubDude? I have an Empire on the way and way thinking I'd pick one of these up for it. But it's 24" deep and 18" wide.

Performance wise, I don't think there is anything wrong with a fat man on a little bike.

I believe the VTF-2 MK3 is down-firing. It may be advised to leave the spikes on. You might want to contact HSU.

If the sub is resting on carpet which has padding under it which has a concrete floor under the padding, will the subdude still be of any kind of benefit since the floor is concrete?

Thanks for responses! I plan to leave the spikes on because the sub is down firing but am afraid the spike will sink into and damage the gramma , hence the idea of using coins under to reduce the pressure.

Anyone using a down firing sub on their gramma/subdude with the cone/spike sitting directly on it?

I just picked up a subdude for a STF-2 and put pennies under the spikes. I didn't notice any difference in sound between "non-coined" and "coined." I didn't want to put little spike marks and holes on the surface of the subdude.

I'm really on the fence about ordering a decoupling device for my subwoofer in my living room. How would it differ from putting 4 hockey pucks under the 4 corners of the sub?

I have tried many DIY isolaters and its hard to describe but until you use a real one like the Auralex Gramma or Subdude than you will just have to find out for yourself.

I spent like $45 on Amazon for my Gramma and it works better than anything I have previously used. It just sounds cleaner and I love my sub more than ever.

I have an elemental designs (well I have 2 of them) a5-350 subwoofer. The rubber feet that they come with suck imo. They actually broke off from me dragging them around. I have a single a5-350 in my living room with the full bottom of the box in contact with my floor which is carpeted with a wood foundation(with a nice padding underneath). There is a finished basement below. It does bother me at times with stuff in the living room rattling. I'm wondering if the eD $60 a5-350 sub platform would be worth it or not, or if I could just use something else to get it off of the floor to be similarly effective without spending money.

I've got the subdude under my svs pc12 (which has a large base under the downfiring sub), and I wouldn't be to concerned with placing sub on spikes or cones directly on the gramma/subdude - It's made for professional use and I can't see how that destroy it. There seems to be a wooden plate over foom - so I would just place the cones directly on it - it would also look more clean - and the sub will stay put.

The eD offerings are pretty much identicle to the Auralex except that Auralex has been in the game longer and I personally trust them more and you can find their products cheaper than eDs.

Like I said before, I have tried many other DIY options and some were better than others but still when I finally made the decision to switch to the real deal, it was a difference maker.

One thing that worked well for me was some of that super dense packing foam glued onto an MDF board that was carpeted with real short almost commercial style carpeting. It helped and is better than nothing and cost me like $10 as I had most of the supplies, but that solution was still no Auralex Gramma.
