Hoping someone here can help.

Trying to connect a PC thru my Denon AVR-2807.

PC has a HDMI out but does not pass audio. Only Audio out from PC is a standard 3.5mm Stereo Plug.

Was hoping could connect

- PC HDMI to AVR HDMI2 and then assign V.Aux to HDMI-2
- PC 3.5mm Stereo out via a 3.5mm to RCA cable to the V.Aux audio inputs on the front of the AVR

I've done this but I 'm not getting any audio.

I've set the V.Aux audio to Off as was not an option for the fron inputs.

Is it possible to pass these audio inputs thru while using HDMI?If Yes, what am I missing?

This is only to stream UK Football so not over worried about the audio quality.

For the V. Aux source, set the "INPUT MODE" to "Analog" and you should be good to go.

Will appreciate if someone could shed some light on the audio & video quality when watching a HD/ BluRay Soft copy ( downloaded from the net).

Will I be able to get the same audio effect that comes on the original disc ?

How best & on what settings do I configure my AVR to get the best output.

I have the wharfedale Diamond 8 series.

If the movie is 1080p, it should be the same quality. Ensure you select the HD audio track (ie. Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA).

I'm using Denon AVR 2807.. & VLC ( software) to play the moves & some how I JUST cannot get the surround effect .
How do I go about selecting the HD audio track.. sorry to be a novice mate

You're doing illegal downloads from the internet...the quality you get will be a crap shoot. I HIGHLY doubt it's going to have the original lossless (i.e. DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD) and the video is most likely compressed to hell. How large are these movies you're downloading? Blu-ray discs are usually 35-50 GB. Unless the files are about that size then they probably just have the regular Dolby Digital 5.1...if that.

plus of course this has absolutely nothing to do with a receiver.

I just purchased one of these avr's second hand and have been having a problem getting audio to play to the receiver from optical and hdmi sources.
I have temporarily hooked my tv to it threw the rca audio inputs and it works just fine and the radio works just fine. But i cant get optical or hdmi to work even after remapping.

Also when i hook the setup mic to the unit and run auto sound setup it flashes wait under the text that tells you to place the mic at ear height and it will not let me press start. It does acknowledge that i plug in or unplug the mic and wait flashes regardless of if it is plugged in.

The avr is currently hooked up in 5.1 and all speakers work while playing radio but only the front 2 and sub work during tv threw the rca cables.. no surprise there.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also The monitor out is the only way i can see the osd to my tv, I followed directions to get it going threw hdmi but no luck there, however I do have the osd on my tv using the video rca cable from the monitor out.

Check the Owner's manual and reset the microprocessor (p. 42). If you didn't get a manual, you can download one from Denon's website.

I have the book and have reset the unit before but I went ahead and reset it again. Same findings, I can get RCA to work and the stereo to work but no opticals or hdmi. The auto setup still says wait. When I'm setting sources and trying to do hdmi the screen says no signal in setup. Also I have found when I try to do test tones no tone is played. Another issue that possibly might help you help me is that whenever I change settings or sources I have to turn the power off and back on to the unit to change the volume.
I am currently listening to my tv on it threw the RCA inputs and everything on that works just fine.
I hope I have provided some important information.

Sounds like you got a defective unit. I'd return it.

Hi every body . I m new to high tech , look for help . Recently I just bought Denon Receiver 2807 its works seem like perfect . Since yesterday I almost pass out cause its no longer turn on ! I try to plug in a couple difference outlet but no luck at all . Is anybody in here that had the same problem please share your experience . Cause I cant think of why it sudden death with seldom use ( I had it for 4 mos ) I appreciate for all your input

Check the Owner manual and try resetting the microprocessor. If it still doesn't come on, then you'll need to either repair it or buy something else.

This is new to me I never heard about reset a Receiver ? I rarely play till I have time but I dont know why the Receiver just didnt power on . Could you please guide me how to reset this . Really appreciate it

A microprocessor reset can cure many ills of the AVR ... which is why I have placed the recommendation in my sig having suggested it hundreds (if not thousands) of times.

Would that apply to Denon only or could be some of difference model as well

It applies to every brand of AVR which is why I don't say Denon in that line.

i need help

cant figure out why i dont get any sound from laptop even after selecting the correct playback device on laptop as denon,

i get video to show up on my tv but no sound, the input just doesnt light up .... i selected auto...and tried all of them,


hdmi works on denon as both input play ps3 fine...... i know its not laptop as i can connect straight to tv get both audio and video

laptop > hdmi > denon 987 > lg tv .....

what am i doing wrong,????

What experience has anyone had driving 4 ohm speakers with a denon 2807? I am driving a pair of Monitor audio rx8's in two channel only. So far everything seems good, no excess heat and no shut down protection. It still concerns me somewhat. ....does the fact that I'm only driving two speakers reduce any risk of damaging the receiver?

The 2807 is more than capable of powering 4-ohm speakers at average volume levels. As long as you don't raise the volume too high causing it to shut down in protection mode, no worries.
