Nada. Except for the pass thru (when 1909 is off), there was nothing much I could achieve.

Anyone?? 1909 + Ps3 control??

same boat as me...

i'm wondering (since the op has an onkyo), if this has something to do with the way that onkyo/integra implemented cec (i.e. rihd)...

darnit, i want this to work... it would FINALLY be a "real use" for hdmi cec...

I really hate to ask this since there are over a 1000 posts and it's probably been discussed before, but my PS3 works great for all the games and regular DVD's, but for some reason when I put in one of my BR movies it has this stuttering or shaking effet and the upper right corner of the picture seems to be folding down.

The TV is working fine, the audio is fine, and as I said all game play and standard definition DVD's work properly. I tried searching for shaking picture, stuttering picture, folding picture and nothing came up in the search.

I'm sure I'll have to send it in for repair, but was hoping someone here might have an idea what could be wrong and if this is a costly repair.

Thanks.

I did a quick browse of the Onkyo's manual and it appears it's remote is also involved. So It's not just HDMI-CEC to be available, but there needs to be the way the remote of your receiver be able to communicate through HDMI.

Denon 1909 seems dumb here (in comparison)

Now I have them in my living room through a Sony HT-CT350 soundbar, and am having same issues. I CT350 doesn't have any delay adjustments, and when I watch BD movies, I notice varying delay between the audio tacks. This is very frustrating and I'm about one movie away from returning the entire setup. Is this a known issue? If I connect everything throughout the TV and use ARC for the soundbar could that possibly fix it?

I suggest that you attach your input devices directly to your TV, and attach a TOSLINK cable from the TV to the CT-350. I will bet you $4.73 that this will correct your lip sync issues. You can set your Sony TV to Fixed Volume output and you can disable the TV speaker.

This will limit the high bitrate audio from your Blu-ray discs, but I don't think it will make a difference you can hear with this soundbar.

Please let me know how this works.

Thanks Dr. Sorry, I tried several searches with no luck. Had no idea about the 24fps. Any idea why it would happen like this all of sudden now and not before? I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks!!!

One more question Dr. Will it work if I set it to automatic or should I just go ahead and turn it to off? I really appreciate your help with this. Thanks to people like you and many other knowledgeable posters I have saved lots of money from unneeded repairs.

I know there are probably hundereds or threads about this but I still cant get mY PS3 to put out Dolby True HD or DTS Master audio. When I call Onkyo they say the PS3 dont put out those signals but then I heard there was a update to the PS3 that does allow it to put out those signals. I have it set to bitstream and when I play BluRay Kick Ass it only plays in 5.1 but if I switch it back to PCM in plays 7.1. So DOES PS3 PUT OUT DOLBY TRUE HD AND DTS MASTER??

Any idea if/when Sony plans to release a PS3 with HDMI 1.4? Would be nice to be able to play 3D blu-rays AND output HD audio simultaneously.
The "fat" PS3 decodes those formats internally and sends them out as uncompressed multichannel LPCM.

The "slim" PS3 gives you the choice between doing that, or bitstreaming to the receiver/processor for decoding there.

On a modern receiver that can process MCH LPCM, there will be no quality difference between the two, although one may be louder than the other, requiring a volume control adjustment.

Internal decoding is IMO a better approach, since it allows the use of secondary audio (PIP commentary, button sounds, etc.) without disabling the hi-resolution audio (which can't be done with bitstreaming).

The PS3 already meets the HDMI 1.4 standard when playing 3D movies. It just does not have the processing power to output HD audio when playing a 3D movie. Perhaps Sony may be able to optimize the 3D code someday to allow HD audio.

Are you sure? I have a "fat" PS/3, and it lets me choose "PCM" or "bitstream". Am I missing something? Thanks.
The fat will only bitstream the legacy codecs i.e. DD, DTS. It will not bitstream the new HD codecs i.e. DD plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-MA. The preferred setting on the fat is LPCM as that will provide decoded HD codecs via HDMI to a multi-channel pcm capable avr.

Anyone else having issues with "lip sync" since the last firmware update?

I have had to do a 50ms adjustment on my AVR to get things to match up - prior to the last update things were great.

You just have to try different locations until you find a sweet spot.

I've asked before and no one answered. When you are streaming Netflix and push the info button on the remote for that movie, is the information very small in the upper left hand corner and hard to read? Is there a fix?

It looks the same for me... I think it's something you can bring up but seems like they kept it small on purpose to not cover much of the picture. Font sizes are something which don't seem that customizable on game systems.

What I have done is set output to 720p (no 1080i) for the PS3 on my 32" set (which is 1366x768 native resolution) and that helps somewhat.

No issues with sync here before or after the latest update.

Whatever the newest version is - the one that came after 1.4 support was added.
I noticed that some of the settings had changed for my display options after the update - like 1080p/24 output was activated even though i had previously set it to output 1080i maximum. I'm curious if there are some other settings that may have changed that could be causing the sync issue.

I have a question about PS3 video noise reduction for DVD play. The FAQ says below

* Frame Noise Reduction - Set to reduce fine visual noise

* Block Noise Reduction - Set to reduce mosaic-like block visual noise displayed on the screen

* Mosquito Noise Reduction - Set to reduce noise that appears near crisp edges of objects (an MPEG 2 digital artifact)

Now my problem is, the available settings 1,2,3 values which are corresponding to what is mentioned in the FAQ?
