Never had a situation where I couldn't get something like this cleared up almost immediately over the telephone. I guess there's always a first time.
So, the tech guy comes today, and almost immediately realizes it's not a tech issue, it's a billing issue (so, original customer-no-service advice: fail).
He calls the appropriate department, and then explains to me that my bundle doesn't include NFL Network and Pac-12 LA. I try and explain that NFL Network is supposed to be available to all digital cable subscribers, which is what the battle between TWC and the NFL was all about. He says that wasn't the real reason for their lack of a contract, but I wasn't in the mood to hear about it, so I didn't press him.
So I went online and showed him the channel lineup for TW Desert Cities, which showed NFL Network and Pac-12 LA as being part of the Variety Pack, which I supposedly had. He said I didn't have the full/complete/whatever-he-called-it Variety Pack, and according to who he was talking to on the phone it would cost $8/month to add those channels (which, by the way, is exactly the cost of the Sports Pass).
Well, after he left, I did some investigating, and noted that I was receiving all of the Variety Pack channels except for: NFL Network, Pac-12 LA and, surprisingly, two Spanish channels: Mun2 and ESPN Deportes. Something's not right here.
Am I nuts, or are they nuts (I'm pretty sure they are, but I'm not looking forward to battling the TWC establishment just to prove my point)?
By the way, just before the tech guy left, he took the remote and started looking over some of my cable-box settings. Great, I thought, maybe he'll find something I neglected to set correctly and fix it for me. After he walked out the door, I looked at the TV, which was on ESPN HD, and noticed that he'd put the picture on "stretched", which I then had to undo. Nice little WTF moment there.Edited by dennis1 - 10/23/12 at 11:28pm
