Official Panasonic 37", 42", 50", 58" & 65" (60, 600, etc)- Questions, Sightings, Etc - Page 2

I'm having the same issue deciding between 37" ED. 37" HD or 42" ED, 42 HD. Mine will be for small 11x11 bedroom where are viewing distance is 8-9 feet. Will be mostly used for TV, HD and SD for now via Dish and some DVD. I thought about doing the 37" ED pro and getting an all-in-one surround/speaker setup. I'm think a 42" ED would be too close for my setup, but I've heard the ED does a better job on SD material which is what we watch mostly, at least until we move to all HD. Plan on upgrading to Voom via Dish sometime soon so that may change, and also understand HGTV is going HD which my wife and I watch often. Any thoughts. The local Tweeter said end of March, haven't checked BB yet. Was hiping the older sets would drop as no real innovation on the 37" or 42" side, except for contrast it seems. I actually like the wider dark bezel on the older units or all black on the Pro models

I'd like to learn more about what you can do in this menu. How do you gain access to it?

I wouldn't pay much attention to BB pricing as they've developed a pattern of actually pricing above MSRP where a short supply exists - they did it during the Holidays with the Sony Bravia LCD's - they were selling it for hundreds above what the SonyStyle had it for and the MSRP posted by Sony.

Panasonic sets the MSRP not the Vendor. After all it's a "Suggested" Retail Price only. If they can choke the inventory chain they may do the same with some of the Panny models as they did with the Bravia's and it's no secret as to the Supply/Demand issues with Panny Plasma's.

Any news for the online manual for the 60U ??

yes it is a duck feet stand. i will measure the width when i get home.

BB part numbers for anyone interested is 42" is 7679185 and 50" 7679238. They are not in any warehouse here in IN and are listing old MSRP, but are told 2-3 week in March.

Jersey devil, any news about the 65 inch unit taking 1080p over HDMI?

I called the number on the 50U manual. Said he didn't have the 60U (600U)
manuals maybe soon. I said, people are buying them now, huhh I'll probably own one before it's online.

It would be great if there were a separate thread for the 65 incher. Perhaps a thread for decent sized sets and another for tiny ones

The duck feet pedestal is one thing that pushes me to the 600U, instead of the 60U, since I have to have the screen angled on a cabinet shelf, and one of the duck feet would have to hang over the edge of the cabinet. (tacky!) I was heartened yesterday in the "former" thread when scrapbook posted the link to the Panasonic Italy brochure (http://www.panasonic.it/_ftp/catalog...ctlg_EU_06.pdf ), and you could see on page 27 that the swivel pedestal for the PX60 is optional (actually, all the pedestals were optional, which got me to thinking that perhaps that is one reason the price went down! But, apparently, the U.S. version does come with a pedestal...just too bad you can't choose which one!)

Although the px60u in the US are shipping with the duck feet pedestal stand included, it appears to be possible to actually also use the diamond stand. Page 27 of the Panasonic Italy brochure you mention above seems to imply that the duck feet and diamond pedestal stands are interchangeable. Also IIRC, the diamond pedestal stand for last year's 42" px500u models swiveled but the same diamond stand for the 50" px500u did not swivel.

IMO

Yup. ALL The Panasonic Consumer Models in the US come with Pedestal Stand supplied as standard. While on most other Counties they are optional. Just wait couple months and you'll find many of those stands for the 600U at Ebay.

I believe Feb 25th or so Panasonic did a trial run of their new website. It was up for a day (or less) and had a pre-order form for the 42PX60U. Those that ordered Panasonic did comply with and are set to deliver. The new site should be back up soon. How soon ???

There is one, and it used to be really hot, but it hasn't been updated in a while - mainly because a lack of decent news. Perhaps, we can revive it?

That is exactly what happened. My buddy called after seeing it was no longer up and Panny said that they had "inadvertantly" put it up on their site but that they were going to honor his order.

In the other thread, before the merge, some one posted dimensions for the 65" from a Japanese website. The width was listed a 69", that has to be a mistake, or the TH-65PX600U must have speakers on the sides. The viewable width of a 65" screen is only 56.5", that would make the bezel 6.25" wide on each side.

Is it just me or does the new 600 look like the old PD25U? The bezel, at least.
