Yup through Panny Direct - they told me yesterday that it shipped on Monday but to expect 7 - 10 business days. I was very pleasantly surprised..

Were you given any sort of tracking information on your order? Mine just says in process but the invoice says Date Shipped: 3/14 but the tracking information field is null...hmmm

Wall Mounts - what are people using, will the px50u mounts work with the 60u?

I just checked this out on my new 50PX60U using the PIP function of my Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD set-top box. The PIP function works great and you most definitely get two pictures simultaneously. It lets you change the location of the smaller picture, as well as swap the smaller picture for the larger one.

So, for those who are avoiding the 60U solely because it lacks built-in PIP capability, check whether your cable or satellite box performs this function too.

I ordered the 42 from Panny Direct on 3/10. Took a awile, but site is now saying shipped. ETA is 3/20. I emailed them directly for a tracking number.
Looks like they are shipping with FSP. I also got an automated call to my phone concerning arrival date.

I hooked up my xbox 1 (not the xbox 360) to our new 42PX60U this morning. I have it connected with the xbox high definition pack (component cable output) with widescreen and HD specified in the xbox settings menu.

Games look very good with true widescreen, not stretched. There are some very slight jaggies but it looks great on the large color 42 inch screen.

I called Panny and got a tracking # for my order that I placed on 3/10. Looks like its arriving on 3/21

Nope -- no PIP-type function from any of D*'s DVRs or receivers.

With PIP no longer a big issue with the PX 60 series, and assuming that cable card isn't a big draw, what reason is there to wait for the 600? I'm torn between a 50 PX 60 and a 42 PX 600 for about the same $.

I have a 50px60u on order from panasonic. Can anybody tell me the cost for the extended warranty quoted to them? They quoted me $770 for three years.

Thanks. Have you tried it yourself? I just got off the line with Cablevision. First she said it would work, but then after I reiterated what was said, she put me on hold to ask, then returned to the line to say the HD box would NOT work on my non-HDTV.

i am under the assumption that cable card makes for better pq...
also, the 600 has the vga input. w/ all the media i have on my computer...it makes sense for me. the dvi port on my pc goes into my lcd monitor...so, the vga port it is. besides, it's also my understanding that the vga port, although, not as digitally a nice picture...won't get caught up w/ all the rights management issues (hdmi has to be rights compliant, right?)

so, there's my reason for waiting for the 600...regardless of PIP...

course, i could be dead to rights wrong...

Thanks. I guess what I really want to understand is whether the picture processing is the same and whether there is other significance technical issue. As it turns out, Pan is now quoting MAY for delivery on the website so waiting is going to happen regardless.

I tried to order a 42px60 today and there was no "add to cart" button. Called their tel. number and they said they weren't taking any more orders for this model. They couldn't tell me when they would be taking more orders. I wouldn't be surprised if the price went up.

The only other major difference is the PC input. However if you check the posts higher in this thread, apparently you can get a video card for your computer for $50 or so that will allow component cables to be used and hooked into your TV.

The only other differences I know of between the 60 series and 600 series are that the 60 has a duck-foot pedestal stand and the 600 has a diamond shape, the 600 supposedly has more speakers, plus the 60 has more silver around the bezel. IMHO, those issues are most definitely not worth the extra money.

The bezel and maybe some hardware look a little less than what they were. Sadly.

Also, are the speakers on the bottom of 60's, v. the side of 50's? Maybe it's the stand.

Either way, I just cancelled my order of the 42 500U I just bought and am going on the wait list for the 50 60U.

PIP woulda been a waste anyway.

Dnero - I've had a SA Cablevision HD box since Nov 05 (before my PX500 order was cancelled) and it's been connected to my non-HD CRT set since then. Still waiting for the PX600 released beginning of May...

Okay, NYC update.

I went into the BB on 23rd street. The salesperson looked on the computer, and the price was significantly higher than panasonic MSRP for the 42" px60u. He stated that they should be getting floor models by mid next week.

They had 3 in stock in the warehouse, and an additional 63 coming in in about 1 week.

I then went into PCrichard across the street. They were completely clueless, and insisted that the 42px60u wouldnt be available until MAY!

I was hoping to see a set in person before buying, but this is getting ridiculous. Has anyone been able to order from panasonic.com in the last day or so since the mad rush? What are the expected ship dates?

well I guess since I am tied to Directv becaue of the Sunday Ticket and they have no PiP cablebox I am also stuck waiting on the 600U, even if they did have a box I really do prefer side by side PiP.

Anyone running an s77 or s97 on the px60u's? If so are the MB issues the same/better/worse?

I'd like to see it in person too. BB in Nashville do not have this model yet. I have seen a site having a good price for pre-ordered in 2+ week and they just raised their price yesterday.

The model seems to be very popular. I will be pissed if Panny will raise the MSRP because of this.

Someone asked about PC Connection earlier, here's what I can add about it. I ordered the 50" PX60U from them earlier today. When I check the invoice online it says TH50PX60U under the mfg part #. However, it also says 50U under the Product column. It didn't say this on the invoice they emailed me, and it didn't say this on the ordering page. I just emailed them to make sure I'm getting the correct item. I will not be pleased if they've screwed this up (especially since I canceled my order through Panasonic to get it at PC Connection).

Once you see it you will want it! The BB hear in KC has one on display and it's beautiful!!

I did the same thing last night. I was holding out for the 600, but when I saw the 50PX60U on PC Connection, I went for it. I then noticed it said 50U as well, so I'm not entirely sure what the deal is. It said it was backordered, like 2+ weeks. If you find out anything, let me know!

I'm picking up 42PX60U from BB. The sales person told me it won't fit in my 4-door Accord with the box. Without the box, maybe. Has anyone picked up a 42" in Accord?
