hello everyone. long time reader / first time poster. i work at my local "C" and to let everyone know, this tv is an 'online only' item. there are no plans to sell this puppy in the stores. if we do plan on selling it, i will let everyone know.

btw, i ordered one last night as well.. =)

Welcome to the forums! Always good to have an "insider" around. Must have gotten a cherry deal with the assumed employee discount. Lucky dog.

Ok, so who was the first to order? I got my confirmation email at 12:36am EST.

I was hesitant at first, especially after the price rumor flopped, but given the specs I took the plunge. I'll post a review once I set it up.

I got confirmation email at 10.05pm pst last night. I think my order is among the very first group of orders. I live in Calabasas, CA (Los Angeles County.) If shipping is on FIFO basis, ETA should be within 7-10 days. May be it is wishful thinking !

i had my confirmation email by 11pm Pacific time, and I live in Los Angeles, CA.

However, my credit card company declined the first attempt at the charge (for some unknown reason), so I had to have them run it through again today. It worked this time, but I'm just hoping that doesn't drop me back in the shipping line.

But I keep telling myself 4 weeks, and hopefully I'll be surprised and it will come sooner.
Not to raise false hopes, but if history repeats the 42 will arrive early for those who oredered early, as the 37 did for some of us...

Thank you very much

Now you've gone and raised my hopes. Great. Thanks a ton.

Where do I buy the optional VGA to component cable that Sceptre lists in the media box's specifications?
I guess looking on the bright side, since I wont get my TV for 6 weeks, and there will surely be some reviews in 3 weeks, I will have a chance to cancel my order before it ships if this TV turns out to be bad......Id still rather have it in 3 weeks! LOL.
Since I am trying to mount this by itself on a clean wall (I.E. no other units will be beside it), how does one work around the 6 ft length of the cable leading from the media box?

I received my confirmation on March 5th at 11:26 PM. I am in Arizona.

I am for lack of a better word fiending this television set!
Did anyone get charged for this in Cali I did not.

If you are shipping this item to the State of California, a California Electronic Waste Recycling fee will apply to your order at checkout

For anyone with questions about digital out and the box cable>>>>>

I have a question about your new 42 inch set that costco will carry.
1. Will I be able to get an extension for the media cable, and is
it some sort of standard cable, at least on the end that connects to
the tv so I can use an existing extension cable, like a vga or hdmi? 2. Does the atsc tuner have some option for digital out? Can one of
the line out rca jacks be programmed to output a digital signal so I
can get Dolby Digital from an over the air broadcast? Thanks for the
help! William

Reply>>>>
Dear Customer,

1. No, the cables are proprietary. An extension is not available.
2. No. The Tuner has no digital out.

Best Regards,
Sceptre Technical Support Group

That's rough they won't offer an extension cable. I think that could limit sales, maybe not many, but still.

Even with the tax and shipping this tv is still an amazing value, and even after the 500 off launch discount ends, it will still be very competitive.

I think the features they cut out for most people don't matter, but they could be critical for others.

6 ft is fine for me, and I have a home theatre, so having detachable speakers is a very nice addition.

With the media box hidden somewhere and the speakers removed this will be a very sleek set.

I would like all your opinions on this. i you are to hook up a pc, xbox 360, cable box, and dvd. How would you hook all this up meaning what connections will you use for each device being that there are limited connections. I want all my devices to look as beautiful as they can on this tv and also i want to hear all of them in dolby 5.1. Im still looking for a good and affordable home theatre system so if any of you can direct me to the right path i will appreciate it greatly. thnx to all in advance.

Does anybody have a ready list of optional cables that should be purchased before the tv is delivered. This would be my first HDTV and first LCD(flat panel) tv and I would not want to wait too long to start enjoying it properly. Thanks.

ordered. my first foray into the world of lcd.

cable advice:

i've got an htpc and will have directvhd - how best should i run these to with the current breakout box?

guessing either

#1 vga from the htpc to tv
dvi to the directvhd

or

#2 dvi from htpc
component to directvhd

plan on about 50/50 htpc vs. directv viewing.
i'm guessing option #2 is better since i've read the vga may degrade quality.
Open to better ideas.
thx.

btw- great forum. i've used over the years. good stuff.

Same here --"in process." I ordered it within the first hour !!

Placed order just after midnight Eastern Time. Delivery 20 days est. No Tracking Number issued.
Waiting for Charter to call back with HD Set top availability.
Marking my teritory on thread pecking order.
Debating with wife for layout of lving room wall. My arguments would hold more weight if I didn't have to say "You have to see how this TV will look before you decorate.....but that might be 20 days."
PO'd that I can hit SCEPTER wharehouse from my office with a slingshot but I have to pay shipping because Costco doesn't offer will call

I have a big old clunky tube I would rather not move myself, espically since I was forced to pay $200 for this shipping.

I had to use "white glove" shipping once before for a mattress. Although the Web site mentioned unpacking and removal of the packing materials was part of the deal, the two guys that unloaded the mattress carried it into my garage and then wanted to leave as fast as possible. This was actually fine with me.

I believe Costco uses independent shippers for their white glove shipping so I wouldn't expect there to be much consistancy with the service people receive.

Just make sure you inspect the box before the shippers leave and have them note any damage that you find on the invoice.

I have the 37" with HTPC and HD sat.
I chose to use the DVI from HTPC and component from the HD sat box.
DVI from PC looks much better than VGA.

Can anybody nearby to Sceptre warehouse/office go and see the 42 inch set and give us a honest opinion? Like, how cool it really looks, picture quality etc.
Hi all,

This may be old news but Sceptre updated the image of the 42 on their site, again.

The case looks a little more polished and there's a better layout for the back of the breakout box.

I guess I can't post a url but I'm sure you can find it.

I also live in CA and didn't get charged either, and was wondering the same thing. It says the charge would show up at checkout, but even when I threw another one in the cart just to see if it would pop up again yesterday, it didn't.

Maybe its included in the shipping/handeling, but i doubt it. I bet they just forgot to include the charge when they released it.
