Game Cube Fan Noise...

Just curious if my fan noise is "normal". It's not any louder than my X-Box, but being a smaller fan its a bit whinier. Seems like after the cube warms up a secondary noise, almost like an electrical humm/buzz kicks in from the fan (I did check to make sure it was the fan). Maybe I'm just sensitive to sound. Does the gamecube fan adjust speed for temp?

Our GC is all but silent. The only thing quieter is the slim PS2. The fan has never spun up in normal use.

my gamecube is very quiet. I don't even notice it when playing a game at normal volume, with the GC sitting a mere 3 feet away from me.

My fan is loud as well. I don't remember it being as loud when I first got it several years ago, so it may be all the dust. Perhaps the fan can be replaced.

I opened up the gamecube to work on my noisy fan and discovered when I unscrewed it from the metal chasis the noise stopped. Turns out the "electrical hum" was the fan's vibration buzzing through the metal chasis.

The fan is easily held in place without the screws so I left them off and its now nearly silent. Not sure why mine does this when obviously some others don't but I never move the cube so I left the screws off.
