Well I picked up GRAW about 9:30 this morning and haven't stopped playing it.

So THIS is what the next-gen is supposed to be about! :)

Graphics are gorgeous, gameplay is open-ended, and controls are smooth. I haven't had much of a chance to try to mp, b/c not that many people have been on, but I'll give it a go when some fellow AVS'ers get on later.

Try NOT to vote until you've given the game a couple hours of playtime at least.

EDIT: Check Metacritic to see how the press is rating it.

Thanks to you basta...err...people...I had to go out at lunch today and pick this up at Toys R us. Thankfully, TRU credit gave it to me absolutely free (HEE!).

I haven't played it yet....but I can say..THE BOX ART KICKS @SS! :D

Well I'm off to get a new GRAW disc. Here's what happened:

I'm into the 2nd mission where you just meet up w/the 2nd VIP and my gun stops shooting....then the enemies start jumping around acting wierd...then my teammates won't follow me....the it shows I have no teammates but they're still on the map.

So I turn off my 360 (which has never had a problem before and yes, is perfectly ventilated)...wait a few minutes...go to try and load my campaign and it locks up on the loading screen EVERY time. Next I try and just load the 2nd campaign from the start, but it only lets me load the first. So I do that, and about half way through it...one of my teammates starts stuttering around and I can't get him to follow me or do anything except stutter back and forth.

I really really really hope it's just the disc.

Well...?
Mine locks and freezes... JUST KIDDING... I went to my local Fry's and they wont have them in the store until 3/9 :)
Sounds more like a corrupted save file from a reading error on the disc. Time to delete and start over.

Of coures this game could push the hardware of the 360 more than the games we've seen so far (like how GTA really stressed the DVD drives of PS2's because it was always spinning and loading something new)........dont give up hope just yet.

The UPS guy delivered the game to my door at noon and I hit multiplayer mode immediately, didn't even look at single player (yet). A couple of my buds were on and we played for an hour or two before the hunger pangs of missing lunch were too much and I paused the action to eat something.

Bottom line, THIS is why we bought the 360, and the game disc probably isn't going to make it out of the console for a very long time. For anyone that was delaying a 360 purchase, this game will give you reason to start searching again (unless you absolutely hate FPS games). The first round of sports titles were nice and all, but when I saw the original launch list, GR:AW was the main reason I was hell bent on purchasing right away. The delay was unfortunate, but it seems that the title is feature filled and runs great online. The lobby options are terrific. COD2 can officially go on eBay now, it really has nothing to offer on XBL compared to this game with it's fully featured online component. All of the menu options are very clearly laid out and easy to understand, inviting friends, making private rooms, etc... all very easily done.

Looking through the game's achievements, I see one titled "committed" that you get after playing 8 consecutive hours in multiplayer mode. I'm not sure of the meaning though. Does that mean you're really committed to the game, or that you should be committed to an institution for playing online for 8 straight hours without stopping, hehe

One of my favorite new features so far is the "dive". If you are running and hit the left stick (that would normally toggle you down to a crouch) the player will instead dive forward all the way into the prone position. VERY cool feature when you come under heavy attack.

Well I made it through the 2nd mission now w/o anymore problems...almost.

I am still getting one of my squad mates acting like he has tourette's on the first mission at the same spot.

I took a little video w/my digital camera to show you ubi what I'm talking about:

Oh well...that's the only problem I've had so far and it SHOULD NOT cause anyone to avoid this game. It's definately the best the 360 has to offer, and so far, one of the most immersive games I've played.

For those who gave it a 2/10, could you please elaborate on why it sucks so bad? I doubt it will stop me from buying it, but I'd like to know what to watch out for that is so bad.

Thanks.
I am waiting to vote until I get through several missions and try online, but I'd say I am leaning toward a 9/10 unless something really bad rears its head.

I could see someone not liking the GR tactical style, and preferring run and gun FPS games instead. It's definitely not a run and gun game.

Anyone giving this game a 2 is a troll at best.
You can disregard one of the 2/10's. My mistake. I hit it and went back to change it, but I can't.
I gave it an 8.

I like it, but there's something about it that's just not doing it for me. The graphics seem "blurry" sometimes. I realize there's a sun glare, but it's not that. Also, the controls seem to be a bit lagged.

It's definitely intense though. Telling the Blackhawk where to take out those gunners was damn cool !

The game is awesome so far, but i have one problem. In the first level when a couple troop transports roll up and you are given the choice to either leave them alone or assault them, a weird bug happens. after i kill everyone (or so i think) if i lean up against the wall of the bridge, someone starts shooting at me. When i lean to see who it is, no one's there, but the bullets appear to be coming out of the ground. Now, the ground is sloping upwards, so i figured it's a glitch and someone is firing at me from somewhere else and the bullets are clipping through the ground, but i can't find the person later in the level, and if i run back and lean against the wall i will get fired at. I haven't played through that area again, so it might have been a funky save, but it's really weird, and needless when i first ordered my guys against the wall, the mystery shooter killed them all very quickly.

My guess is the 2's are the doing of those few HTPC gamers who like to linger around in the Xbox forum and wait for an opportunity to bash the games/system.

Could be wrong though.

Well I have a brand new copy (played once) sitting here if anybody wants it (PM me) , I don't care for it .

I'm still at work so I havn't had a chance to play it yet. What did you not like about it?
I just do not like the game style , the whole squad based thing slows it down a bit . I also do not care for the control system . Basically it is just not my type of game , I am an action gamer and I like games that I can just pick and play whenever I have a little time , this is not a quick pick up and play type of game (too involved for my tastes) .

Nothing wrong with the game , it's more just personal preference really ;) .

I couldn't wait for the PC version, so I picked up this version today. Very, very good- More like GR1, which is good. From what I've been reading about the PC version though, I'll probably sell the 360 version when the PC version releases.

Except for maybe 60fps and no screen tearing, which seems to be a bit of an issue with the multiplayer. But, other than that it's been a blast both on and offline. I was a bit disappoint to see that most of the reflections are canned (especially since I read a review that mentioned how good the reflections are), but other than that everything looks great!

Can't wait to try some co-op levels, but I might have to run a few more laps of Burnout first ;)

HOLY CRAP.

After playing online, the game gets an 11 from me. O M G

Jason, I hope I didn't just waste $60. I did not play any GR on Xbox, and the fact that it is not a quick pick up worries me. But, I'll give it a whole hearted effort when I get a chance to play.
Ok, this is coming from someone who only played the GR demo on the PC, and owns GR2 on the Xbox but never played it (bought it used and tucked it away for a rainy day).

I like it...at least the single player. Haven't tried multi yet. Not sure how this style of gameplay leads itself to player versus player with the auto aiming and stuff. Co-Op must be fun, though.

Jasons right, this isn't an action game. its definatly like Rainbow Six....creep and aim, creep and aim.......choose your position and hope nobody appears behind you. Mastering the controls will also take me a little time, as I'm new to the series...but they're intuitive enough after awhile. I love being able to choose different weapons.

One thing that does suck about this game is that the interface makes it tough to turn around and defend yourself from the rear IF you're crouched and engaging enemies from one direction. Oddly enough, your team doesn't have one member automatticlly watching your rear, or so it would appear.

Also, I guess I gotta read the manual...one minute my team is following me, the next they are holding position. I rally them behind me, they catch up to my last position, adn then they hold position again. <SHRUG>...again, human error :) I gotta RTFM.

Its also tough to ID targets above/below you unless you really pay attention to the little hud queues. I found myself getting lost quite a bit, searching for my waypoint amidst several other arrows. Gotta brush up on my SA in this game.

GRAPHICS: I think they're hot. Really, they're quite good. I also love the way you can interact with the environment. Parked cars Blowed UP..>BLOWED UP REAL GOOD!<, glass shatters, environments take bullet hits. Etc, etc. But its definatly a slower paced game.

I'm going to enjoy going through this one over time, but I imagine I will DREAD multiplayer deathmatch type games, the level of "control" against human characters in this game seems kinda clunky.......maybe if you're playing friends.....co-op might be cool.

Now I wanna go back tomorrow and get BURNOUT :)

PS: HEY, WHERES THE DAMN HUD???

In every video I've seen there is the hud that sorta looks like a face-screen.....the outline around the hud, so its like its projected onto goggles or something. I DONT have that.
Not at all. I have the hud, but not the rest....first person or third person.

in the IGN videos they show that curved outline looking thing around the hud, but not on my game...its just not there.

I'm playing at 1080i......Anyone else not have this??

I've played through the first mission and the only reason I gave it 9 instead of 10 was some of the graphics are a tad off - one of my squad mates was through a wall a bit but other than that the gameplay is fantastic! Haven't done multiplayer but my roomie and I are about to sit down and play some co-op...
