Anyone here running Synchrony Two towers with an Arcam AVR-280 or AVR-350? Can these amps supply enough power to bring these speakers alive?

I am planning to bi-amp the towers since I don't plan on using 7.1 sound. Usage will be 50/50 music/HT.

I was offered a pair of T45's with the C60 center for $999. Is that a good deal? I've never owned PSB before and I'm looking for a front stage for around $1000. I have a SVS Ultra sub and an Onkyo 705. My room is 30x15x12. What would you suggest? Thanks!

Its OK price wise. I have the T45s and the older Image 8c (C40) and I love them. The T45s are an extremely musical speaker with good dynamics and the C40 is a very clear center channel capable of going quite loud withoutgetting harsh or strident. No reason to think the C60 is any different.

You can get brand new Image T45 pair and C40 from an authorized dealer for less.

heres what i have this system is 12 years old thinking about updating.. i might just get a new a/v and see what they sound like and go from there...what would you guys replace these with?

Has anyone compared the T45 or C60 with the Ascend 340's? I'm debating between these two for my front stage.

I'm more familiar with Ascend 170SE, which I think are very fine values. The 340s larger size will help out with HT, if perhaps not as much as towers could. I find the Ascends are better off-axis than the Images, but my Images can crank to high hell, while still sounding very good. In a nutshell, I might prefer Ascends for music, and Images for HT. I thunk anyways. They're both excellent values, so nice little list you got.

Well I would use it 90% for HT so it would seem the Images would be better according to what you said. Obviously I'll have to go audition them to see. How is the C60 as a center?

I use to have a C60 center, with S50 surrounds. The fronts and woofer were Vandersteens. Incredible setup. Wish I had the room for them in my new house.

The C60 was an excellent center speaker and I was very happy with the S50s too.

The current sub in my system is a PSB Subsonic 5 (around $500) that I purchased a few years back. I am putting together a HT system- 80% music and 20% movies More concerned with music than slam/boom. Room is about 17x17 ft. Do not listen to lespecially loud music or soundtracks. Main music is jazz, classical, and a smattering of everything else

Worth upgrading? If so, what would represent a significant upgrade in performance? I am not wed to any particular company (i.e. including PSB)

Sorry to be posting this in a "non sub" forum, I tried over there and did not get a response. I thought you PSB users might know a thing or two

I have the PSB Subseries 5i Subwoofer and it performs very well. Is your sub a 5i or just the 5? If it is the older 5 I would say yes it is worth upgrading. From PSB I would suggest the SubSeries 6i Subwoofer it is sort of PSB's sweet spot where performance and value combine.

How are the T45's compared with the KEF iQ7's? I can get a brand new pair of the iQ7's for the same price as a used pair of T45's. Does anyone have an idea of how they would compare? Keep in mind that I would mainly use it for HT.

You better go listen to the iQ7. The KEFs are very clear sounding speakers especially in the midrange area but are not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. But for HT they should be very nice as long as you have a sub. Try a Pacific Sales store. There's a few dealers in your area. Just do a search.

More power, better design, lower distortion, lower port noise, and best of all deeper more musical bass. PSB's philosophy is music first.. so anything you buy from them is always going to sound good playing music. If you have ever seen PSB's trade show booth over the years you will know that PSB has never had a live demo set up playing a movie, they always play Music. Anyone's sub can recreate a boom, but not everyone's sub can recreate music as well.

I would suggest picking up a SubSeries 6i subwoofer or if you have a little more money the brand new SubSeries 500 Subwoofer

Thanks for the reply and information. Sadly, the "salon" type store in my area that sold NAD and PSB went out of business this past year. Their products have been absorbed by a larger store with a completely different personality.

I wonder why PSB subs do not show up on the some of the top sub ratings/listings one finds over in the sub section of these forums?

Holiday greetings everyone...

I'm looking at purchasing a pair of psb t45 speakers.
This will be a replacement for my front speakers, in which I'm currently using a pair of alpha LR1s, that were part of a the alpha series ht1 package (4 x alpha LR1, 1 x clr1, 1 subseries1). This will bring my existing setup to 7.1 with the additional 2 t45 speakers ( receiver - yamaha 6190).

Appreciate feedback on whether there will be any issues with this setup of adding the t45s into my existing setup.

Anyone running something like this? I'm curious how you like the setup and if you like the overall performance.

2x T55s
2x B15s
1x C40
1x Subseries 1

Denon 2309ci

The reason for the sub series 1 is because the dealer I purchase from only sold the 6i as well and because I live in a condo with the t55s a 6i would be extreme overkill for an extra 400 bucks.

I have 5 psb b25s that are crapping out due to amplification I think. Im driving them with a denon 788 and im getting clipping and disortion and higher volumes. Im just wondering what everyone is driving these with and what would be a better receiver/amp to drive.

I have the T55/C60/S50 set up with a Epik Conquest sub and love it. The c60 is a great center. I actually demo'd at my house some MA RS6's and center and found the PSB's much more enjoyable. Its a big beast of a center though so make sure you have a good place with room for it.
We have a huge sectional and the sound off axis is very clear and that is important as my Wife is half deaf from all the years of "too loud Rock & Roll" and with previous centers she always had a problem hearing them and I would have to boost the center 5-6db's and that really threw the soundstage off but I don't have to do that with the C-60.

I have a Nad T755 and it sounds wonderful with my PSB's but then they are made by the same parent company and are also a music first company.
You can P/U some great Nad stuff used and not pricey at all.

Hi Scottns
I've been using the alpha ht1 package for about a month now with no complaints. Mind you this is my first system and a I live in a small condo. But I find I'm using the system more for music, so just looking to update the front speakers. Not sure if putting in a psb speaker from another series would be an issue.

How loud are you playing them? Have you ever used an SPL meter to check? The Denon is more than enough to drive these highl;y efficient speakers to ear bleeding levels. Either your ears are crapping out or your overloading the room with exceesive reflections due to the playback volume.

PSB makes a good sub but for just a few dolars more, SVS and Outlaw have subs that perform better.
