Has anyone here ever heard the Synchrony Two towers with the larger Synchrony One center channel? I'm wondering how it would match.

Also, when it comes to surround channels, am I better off getting 2 Synchrony Two towers and positioning them so they are about 5 feet or so directly to the side of me, or using the Synchrony "S" either on stands or up in the corners, about 11-12 feet from me?

Thanks for any input!

The plan was originally to get a setup of the Image T5/C5/S5... but I figured since my next speaker upgrade won't be for a while I'll spend the extra $300 and go with the T6 for the main. Assuming I don't change my mind in the next few weeks it will be the Image T6/C5/S5 to replace my older Paradigms.

vise,

which store are you planning to get your speakers at in the gta? im planning on getting some psb's and a receiver and have been shopping around. we could probably get a better deal if we're shopping together

Well that happens, Underground Audio down here did the same thing. What's weird is that PSB still has them on the web site as authorized dealers and it sorta sounded like at least some of them made it sound like then never dealt in PSB at all...?

okay i decided to get on the psb train, which is saying alot considering im using semi-functioning 10 year old speakers i dug out of a dumpster currently

so main question

(would it be worth it to go t-5 / t-6) (edit i think this has been answered t5 is a good choice for me)

(have) B-6 surrounds $350, (have)c-5 $299 shipped

complete noob here ive been studying up a little to make sure i dont make a huge mistake, and i want some feedback here if this is a good speaker match or not,

i plan on pairing these with an svs pb-12nsd.. with the b6 as surrounds, but serving as front left / right for awhile until i scrape up the cash for t-65 / t-5

ill be using this for music 60 / games 20 / movies 20 , in a room ~15 x 13 x 11

i choose the speakers because i think i like neutral sound and these fit my budget pretty well, i choose the sub because i heard it get very good lows, hopefully these will work well together, and since i can adjust the crossover on the sub im assuming they will once i dial them in, ill be using my old sony receiver for now, it puts out supposedly 700w total, i think 90w per channel, but what its real output is i have no idea, ill upgrade the receiver probably in a few months to a year, or whenever i think i need it,

thanks for helping a noob

What types of music? Unless it's a lot of club style or rock that you like really loud it seems to me the T65 or T6 would be overkill for that size room.... If you tend towards Jazz and or Classical at all I'd probably head towards the T45 or better the T5. I've not yet had a chance to hear the new Image line, but from everything I've read, my personal choice for that room would be the T5 and C4... However, if you think you will be moving or using a larger room anytime soon then saving for the T6 and C5 would certainly make for a sweet setup.

thanks for the useful comments, i will definitely keep my eyes pealed for an affordable, t5, yeah i do like alot of loud music and rock, i also like to feel the explosions in movies / games, but im pretty sure t5 will be enough especially when i pair it up with an svs 12" sub, i might shake the stuff off the walls in here, but for now ill just stay with the bookshelves until i find a good deal

May help some folks with the same quandary. I chose the C60 instead of the C40 (it was $10 more) for a center to go with T45s, and I'm very pleased. Though as always, I'm second guessing myself, because I really love the T45s, and the C40 center uses the same drivers.

I could always be talked into switching the two. And the C60 is freaking huge, no amount of measuring and dimensional awareness will prepare you for the size. I'm gonna have to get a new stand, had to remove a drawer to accomodate this bad boy.

I was worried about the size match, but the timbre aligns very well, and they seem to match perfectly with the T45s. I'm not sure if I gave up any clarity or not, but it is a vast improvement from what I had. Voices are clear and rise above without drowning out the rest of the soundscape. Just fantastic.

Anyone who heard both want to chime in with impressions?

I posted this initially to the generic speaker thread and am re-posting here due to the PSB-specific nature of it...

I just bought a 5.1 PSB system and am very excited (Alpha B1, Alpha C1, Alpha LR1, and a Subseries 5i).

Behind the sofa (the main viewing area) is a long wooden counter, about 1.5 feet above the sofa. I will be mounting the LR1 rear speakers on the underside of this wooden counter, on either side of the sofa.

The sheer number of choices for mounting is overwhelming. Can anyone suggest a simple ceiling mount that will work for these speakers? My only requirement is that the fixture that attaches to the underside of the counter have a footprint with a relatively small diameter.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards,
HA

Ordered my PSBs today at lunch...

As mentioned earlier ended up going with the T6, C5, and S5. The T6/C5 are in stock but the S5 is special order so it might be a week or so before I get them. Can't wait!!!

I am considering the idea of adding a pair of Image B25s as heights for a 9.1 DSX system. To securely mount these oversized bookshelves from the ceiling, I'll need to screw into them. I'll offer the extremely quick response I received from PSB, after asking where/how to screw into them, just in case it may help someone else here in the future.

Thank you for your recent request via the PSB Speakers website.

The Crossover is mounted on the Terminal Cup with those speakers. The
only thing we recommend is removing the woofer before drilling, so it
does not get damaged. Also you can then clean out the saw dust from
drilling.

The best place if attaching to the back of the speaker would be just
above the terminal cup.

Best regards,

PSB Speakers

Need advice on PSB image surround speakers. My system is used for 50/50 movie sports, and that's about it. I currently have the T65 Towers and C60 center. I have a very large room (33*17*8) and can't decide the best route to go with surround speakers.

My front speakers are located against the 17 ft wall, and my seating area is 16ft away (1 row), which obviously means the back wall is about another 16 feet back. The side surrounds need to be mounted about 115 degrees from my seating position at about 7 feet high. All these locations are necessary, meaning I can't move anything.

What would you suggest for surrounds, S50, b25, or b15s considering it is 100% used for movies/sports.

Thanks for any input.

I'm thinking of grabbing a pair of Image T-45's from Saturday audio and the NAD AVR T755 to drive them. Later, I'll add center and rears.

Does this amp (rated 80wx5 continuous, 20hz-20kz) have the power to make the 45's shine? Sub will be an Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Compact).

Space is at a premium, but I want the towers. These will go in my living room and I'd like good sound without the sub for TV and computer use (not games).

For sure. NAD is one of the few companies that meets or exceeds its all channels driven specification. That receiver will easily best the power output of a Yamaha or Denon at 100wattsx5 channels when all channels driven. Just make sure it can decode all the latest codecs . NAD was a little slow in getting on board with High Def for some reason.

I was looking at that receiver recently, but the hdmi is video pass through only, meaning you still need an optical cable for sound which is ridiculous for the price point and year.

Which also means it won't decode HD-audio tracks from blu-rays etc...might not matter to you though. NAD is good gear for sure otherwise.

ebay is gray market. no authorized PSB dealers on ebay
I doubt the warranty

So are you screwing into the back then? I am planning on ceiling mounting my B15s and was going to screw into the top at the 4 corners.

I would put some little L brackets on them with tiny screws so not to perice threw the cabinet. Just in case.

I've been looking at speakers for days, can't make up my mind.
Premier Acoustic PA-8F Titanium Home Theater System or PSB image T65's, Image C60, Image S50 and a new Subsonic5I. I already have one of the Subsonic's which I've had for about 10 years, It's a great little sub, but I'm thinking with the new HD audio formats, that the 5i may be able to dip abit lower then my 10 years old Subsonic 5.

Not a problem. I was going to use optical anyway. My TV is only 720p and I'll run video from my DirecTV HD DVR to TV. No blu-ray either. I want to run the DirecTV and a Gateway LX-6810 through this receiver and I want good, clean sound. Sounds like this will work for me then. Thanks!

Let us know how this works out. I've heard that the new Image don't ship well unless they are palletized. Not a problem for authorized dealers that buy in bulk and sell locally, but potentially troublesome for internet merchants who procure their goods sideways and then ship them out piecemeal...not to mention that buying from unauthorized sources voids the warranty.

I bought a complete set of the Imagine Speakers with the bookshelf fronts. I had some very, very old PSBs a few years ago that the ex now owns and decided to do this once and for all. I couldn't be happier with the Imagine series, they are wonderful. I added a Velodyne DQ-15 subwoofer and I think I'm good to go for at least another 20 years and then I won't have any hearing at all anymore.....

John

PS: I thought I wouldn't care for the rose wood but it's fairly dark and looks very nice afterall. I got these as the demo from the Consumer Electronics Show for a very good price.
