I'm happy it worked out for you. The folks at Sonic Boom are great to deal with. I was offered a better deal from Rythmic that I just could not pass up. smile.gif

Which subs did you end up getting?
I ended up wih the P 12-NSD. He reason had nothing to do with performance LOL. It was because the metal grille. It matches the metal grilles on the Imagine series. I was going to get the PB-1000 as an upgrade from the Paradigm PS1000 I am currently running.

did you take the fabric off of the imagines grills?
I believe that there is no fabric on the Imagine grilles. They are all
metal. I could be wrong, as they are still boxed

mine have a fabric on them..over the metal
post #4843 of 5490
Yon are right. The grilles are made of metal with the thin fabric. I'm used to the plastic backing on the grills, so all I remembered about the new ones were that they were made of metal

Send the svs back tongue.gif
In 45 days:D

Quick update. Have the mains up and running, I go to plug in the centre channel.......and nothing.
I get a very faint sound. Switch it out to try it on the the left and right channels....nothing. This thing is pooched out of the box. mad.gif
After that fiasco, I plugged in the rears and they both work flawlessly
If things go as planned, I will have everything up and running by 2014

Hey guys, say Hi! to these beauties:

Just unpacked everything, AVR placement is only temporary and the B&O will soon disappear. Those who are interested might want to check out my ongoing thread:

Just one quick question:
Would you guys mount the spikes? Friend of mine gave me two sets of metal-feet-thingies to place under the spikes...
HI Guys,

I've been viewing the forum for some time now and have learned quite a bit over this period of time. I'm now at the point where I'm ready to pull the trigger on an upgrade. I currently have Polk Audio Monitor series speakers and Looking to upgrade to a different level. I would say, I'm 75%HT and 25% Music..At least in the family room.

I've listened to the PSB Image B6 and love their sound:). However, not sure if they will fill the space properly. My Family room is 18" Wide across the front and 26' Deep. We are only using the first 12' or so for movie watching. Would the B6 with C60 fit the bill?

Thanks for the help in advance..

Looks nice. I didn't know they came in white.

I would be more concerned with the speaker's stability, and spikes don't add much to stability on a hard floor. I purchased outriggers (http://www.soundocity.com/) for my Synchrony One towers. Stability is greatly increased.

18 inches wide? Wow tight squeeze for the family? lol. Seriously though, are you looking for stereo sound or a surround sound set up? Also, are you incorporating subwoofers in your setup? That's a fairly large space to fill with sound. I would consider the T5's for the front, or possibly T6's if you are running without a sub.
LOL...Sorry. That's 18' across the front. Yes, I know its a large space and I plan to upgrade my current Velodyne Sub. However, my wife is not necessarily a fan of Floor Standers. But if that's the recommendation, then i have to buy some extra gifts of Bribery...:biggrin.gif:D:D:D

What do you think of this listing on Craigslist:

Is this too old or is this a great deal?

Thanks in advance...

That series came out around 2004 or 2005 and was available until around 2009 or so. It's the predecessor series to the newer B5, B6, T5, T6 series that came out around 2009-2010.

You could ask when/where they were purchased.

I think the price is pretty good, assuming it's all in good working order and good cosmetic condition. Your room (18' x 26') is pretty big, so the towers would be reasonable in a room that size.

Ahhhh, I see. Maybe I'll go this week and take a listen to the T5/6. Which center channel do I go with, c4/c5?
Hi great people of PSB speakers thread! Just found out that my fiancee's uncle and aunt are named Paul and Sue Barton so I figure I'd start here for a bookshelf search. I need a pair of small-ish bookshelves to go in a guest bedroom for 50/50 music and movie enjoyment. I'd like to stay under $500 but the cheaper the better if they will suit my needs. I won't be cranking these super loud as I live in a townhouse and have neighbors just across the wall. I don't have a sub or surrounds yet so these will be the start of a future complete 5.1 setup. I see PSB has a bunch of models to choose from at various price points just wondering where to start.

Go for the C5 definitely. Definitely want clear powerful dialogue from your movies - don't cut corners with the center smile.gif It will also match up much better to the T5's or T6's. If you're running a couple of subs you might not worry so much about the need for the towers, and could get away with the B6's and subs - that being said the T6's do have a dedicated mid-range driver. I run T5's with SVS subs and am quite happy with the sound they produce. I have a much smaller room, but NEVER come close to max volume with them. Your size? maybe.

Go for the B5's. They'll do the trick handily - come in under budget - and can be moved an easily integrated into a larger 5.1 or 7.1 PSB IMAGE set up when you're ready!

I second this notion...although...with the Bartons (very cool btw) being in the family you MIGHT be able to get the imagine b's fr around the same price...who knows haha

Oh, there's no relation to the Canadian Barton's of PSB. It's just a funky coincidence. I knew my girl's uncle was named Paul and I asked what's his wife's name and she said, "Sue"...I about fell out eek.gif

Hi folks. I'm writing not with a specific question or anything....I'm just sitting, waiting for my new PSB speakers to arrive, so wanted to help the time pass by while I patiently await delivery. I guess my agony won't even end when they are delivered though, since I have to wait until renovations on my new house are completed before beign able to enjoy my new setup (everything we own is in storage right now....living in temporary housing situation with my inlaws as we await the work on the new house to complete). Of course my new plasma and receiver and blu ray player are all in the same situation...sitting in boxes in my father in law's dining room! Very painful. smile.gif

I've owner a number of PSB setups in the past...starting back with Century and Stratus series speakers, to most recently a 7.2 setup consisting of the original Image series. I was using 7 PSB Image B25 speakers all around with two PSB Subseries 5i subwoofers. I've sold everything now with the exception of the subwoofers (the people that bought my previous house didn't want them).

I've just ordered a setup consisting of PSB Image T6 towers, C5 Centre and B4 for surrounds. This setup will be in my new family room which is larger than my previous theatre room. I'm planning on still using the two Subseries 5i subs in the setup. For rear surrounds, I am going with generic Monoprice in-ceiling speakers (have to go in-ceiling due to the configuration of the room and aesthetics). I have no clue if they'll be good enough for the setup, but I figured they were the least important speakers in my setup, so I saved some money since they are not going to be perfect anyway.

Actually, I have a question I guess. Do you think I should keep the Subseries 5i units, or get something better? I know there is better value out there, but at the same time, I was pleased with my subwoofers in my last setup (had them hooked up through an SVS AS-EQ1....my new receiver has MultEQ XT with SubEQ, so I will have the same level of correction applied). I don't have much experience listening to other subwoofers, so don't know if an upgrade would be worth it. Any opinions? I don't mind spending more money, but at the same time, I am cognisant of the theory of diminishing returns.
