Thanks for the info. This site has been a godsend.
Well, I just got back from BestBuy, they were nice enough (as they ought to be when you drop that much for a TV), to let me come in with my own DVD player and Sin City DVD, and I get pretty much the exact same issue. It isn't that bad, and so far, it seems to only happen with high contrast imagery, such as with menus (from any source) when it is against a solid color. It also has to be completely horizontal for it to happen too.
Now of course Sin City DVD is all shot completely in black and white, and other parts of the movie are totally fine. So of course I just so happened to pick one of the worst kind of movie to 1st play in the plasma. Now, so far, when I am watching HD signals over my cable line, I haven't really much of this at all, even when I press a menu button against the HD feed.
So, while I was in Best Buy, I asked if I could plug into a Pioneer 42" Plasma, and it too gave the same kind of streaking, however, it was much less pronounced. Someone earlier in this thread (a senior member) said it is inherint with Plasma. Now that plasma was quite a bit more expensive, so for me I wouldn't consider an exchange so far.
So far the "streaking", it isn't a deal breaker for me, but I had already made an appointment for a panasonic warranty co. to take a look. I figure I will just confirm with him, to be absolutely sure (not that I don't believe any of you senior members
that I am just seeing something inherint with the technology of plasma. If the "streaking" happened all the time, or if it happened even alot more often, I would just return the TV.
I will see if I can post more pictures soon, if I see any other movies that show that "streaking" effect.
Otherwise the HD feeds look great! Although I am coming from having a 32" crt for years.
