I've been using memorex dvd-r from staples for years with a nec burner and never had a single problem.

Just saw an ebay listing from someone (authorized dealer for Infocus) stating that they have "exclusive rights to the newly released Bravo D1 Mark II DVD player and we will be the only ones to ever offer this DVD player". "We have fixed the power supply issue and have all remaining new Bravo DVD players available."

They are selling the IN76 with this player, ceiling mount and monoprice DVI-M1 cable bundled.

Well my D1 from UBID arrived. Totaly used, I was shocked. I opened up the case and there were finger prints all over the front side circuit board(the one at the front of the player that would have the readout on the other side). It's like they were exposed by superglue vapor - white powered finger prints 10+ of them. It is stamped manufactured 30 July 2003. I thought maybe they've did the swap - NOPE. Bad capacitor still in and if that is not glue then it has leaked all over the board and adjoining capacitors. I did not fire it up first I am just going for it and am going to replace the cap, but being that old I bet it doesn't have the new firmware. If it fires up and works I am not going to bitch it's cosmetically in good but not excellent condition. Removing the leaked capacitor goo is my big concern now and of course will it fire up. If it doesn't fire up I'll put the old one back in and return it. But NEW on their website is a BOLDFACED LIE. Some may be NEW and some ARE USED you'll be at the whim of luck as to what you get. NEWEGG is the same way though not all units are new. Disappointed but if it fires up I'll learn how to make the upgrade CD and hope CAVU is right when he says once fixed their reliable. I've return enough stuff in my life that I'll be the one to eat this one as long as it functions. I did know what I was getting into and was informed that they probably were overruns, returns and soforth, I rolled the dice and had just hoped to get lucky, anyhow we'll see if I get it working, if I do then OK no big deal I have a D1 to go with my SP4805. btw it had the FUSS loader. Off to get me some solder braid instead of the sucker and eat lunch' I report back later. Comforted by all I have read on this site, fingers crossed hope is still alive.

that's why going with newegg, just keep returning it until you get a new one if that is what you wanted.

I bought mine form newegg. Let's hope mine is not used. Newegg should mention used or re- manufactured or something to describe the item if it is not new. I have used newegg numerous times and I have never returned anything I bought form them. Always satisfied.

I got mine from ubid and it was definitely new. Everything was sealed and the player even had the protective tape on the display still. Not a mark on it. If I did get one that was used or remanufactured I would be asking for a further discount or do a charge back with the credit card.

That ebay link is bollucks. I'm sure they sell you just what they say, but the Bravo D1 Mark II? It's just the D1 with the cap mod done. It's shameful when people come on to the avsforum and find freely distributed facts that aren't so well known to the general public and then capitolize on them. The whole business with exclusive rights is horse sh!7 if I've ever smelt it.

They packaged all one would need for under $3000 with free shipping, although probably be worth much less in a few months if not already. newegg is also on the package deal with the Bravo. not sure if there is a connection there but this whole D1 resurrection has been interesting since it started.

NEWEGG has sent me used items that were advertised as new in the past. A computer case $165 nice one too. Should of been new. Chalk a few up for brick and mortar stores.

Well swaped out the capacitor and it fired right up, checked the firmware and it has the latest. Previous person had it at PAL 1024x576. So all is good I guess, now I'm a little in the catbird seat as I can watch movies and wait on UBID to ship another BRAND NEW unit if I chose to complain. My only concern is it being almost 3 years old how much use it has vs a brand new one that I can just do the cap swap. jwv651 who did you deal with at UBID the same people need to be hearing about this issue, I might try to get a small credit back but leaning towards making sure they send me a new unit. Anyhow feeling quite a bit better. Wished I'd wrote down the pal settings before I entered the 854x480 @47.95 numbers. SP4805 arrives on Thursday.

will they take it back after the cap swap? I guess they would not even check.

Technically NO, but no they wouldn't check and as far as I'm concerned who ever they sell this unit to will be far better off. They can't bitch about sending me a used/failing unit and it coming back used, WHEN THEY ADVERTISED IT AS NEW. Yes they will take it back, because they are sloppy on both ends. So I just have to decide what I want to do. If I wanted used I could have got it on ebay for $60. There was a broken one that I was onto on ebay for $25 but passed it by for a new one. Thats BS.

My unit from Ubid was an obvious return as well. Same thing, when I opened it up to do the cap swap I noticed what were finger prints on the ps board. It was just like the previous mention of super-glue fumes having made the prints viewable.

On the other hand everything else looked good. Still had the protective covering over the display, the remote didn't seem to have even been opened, but that may have been a simple repackaging job.

So, while it's safe to say that it was a return, I did the ps cap swap, and all I can say is it works. I'd hate to get into a pissing match with the folks a Ubid about it not being "NEW", so I'll be keeping mine.

Bummer that it wasn't new as advertised, rrhomes.

Mine should be waiting for me when I get home tonight (from newegg). I'll report back on whether it looks virgin or not.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone been able to compare the LG DV7832NXC against the D1 on 4805? This guy --> http://www.keohi.com/keohiHDTV/exper...32_review.html stated the component output of the DV7832NXC was a hairline better than the D1 via DVI (not on 4805 or pixeled mapped). The DV7832NXC is also now about the same price as the D1s are going for. I guess this is where the magic of pixel mapping takes over?

It's one guys opinion and he for the most part gives it a crappy review. I wouldn't bank on it, esp being better than the D1's DVI. But remember we all like the D1 because it's a killer match for the SP4805. Even so I'd have to see it to beleave it and I bet the D1 way more than holds it's on at 720p. I won't be getting any other DVD player the D1 used or new IS my DVD player.

If thats the case the finger prints are probably common and are from the assembly of the units and some glue vapor is exposing them, otherwise I can't figure out why someone would be in there but not do the Capacitor swap it doen't have any other known issuse. I'll probably be keeping mine too. But I paid a premium for a new unit and have a used one, mine did not have the protective cover over the read out. The power supply and AV cable's were obviously retwisted. The remote was like you said New looking with batteries that were still in the shrink wrap, just a repacking job.

Although, it does not appear to be just a regular guy who does not know what he is doing. But I guess more comparisons can be helpful. I may buy one just to compare since I need a few DVD players and only have one 4805.

Either way, I'll be keeping my unit USED or not. It works...better yet, it works friggin' beautifully with my 4805. I was very impressed when I first got my pj back in Dec. '04 using a stand alone Sony dvd player feeding 480i over component, but now seeing that pixel mapped image, it's unfreakin' believeable. I'm in love all over again!

I'm thinking of getting a second D1 to use on my 57" Hitachi.
