The Samsung 3251D is excellent for Computer images, very clear, although the pictures look stretched because of the 16:9 aspect ratio, I don't know if there is away around this, but having said that I was very impressed with the VGA connection image from my laptop.

The HD picture is excellent and the SD picture is very good for an LCD, I cannot think of a better 32" LCD on the market right now. Negatives, poor blacks and poor sound.

I just purchased the 2641D -- any recommended settings on this model. Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone have any good settings for HD content on the 3251d? I am struggling to find settings that I am happy with. Thanks.

Does Anyone know the dimensions for the Samsung LN-S4096D??? I have looked on their website and on the web and have found nothing.
Does the LN-S3251D have a backlite adjustment?

Yes. But it's not dynaimic. It's under the energy savings setting with 4 basic adjustments (off, low, med high)

Here's the settings I'm currently using (though I'll probably be doing some more tweaking) after some suggestions from another poster in this thread and going over it with Digital Video Essentials:

Backlight - Medium
Contrast - 73
Brightness - 87
Sharpness - 0
Color - 35
Temperature - Warm 2

This provides much deeper blacks without losing shadow detail, and gets you as close to the 6500K standard as possible in terms of color (though you won't get all the way there without doing service menu adjustments). Because of the Warm 2 setting, color had to be turned down to de-saturate the reds.

What mode? Movie??
Custom...
I'm using similar settings to Jeff's.

Custom
Contrast 80
Brightness 55
Sharp 0
Color 45
Temp Warm 1

BTW, put the exact same settings in for movie and custom and then switch back and forth with the remote control. The pictures look much different in terms of the contrast and brightness. My guess is DNIE is "ON" for the custom setting and "OFF" for movie setting. I like my settings better when under custom, however.

edit: I have the 32 inch model LNS3251D I believe it is
post #371 of 3302
I like mooney' settings failry well.Alot of times you can tell you may not like some people settings if the brightness is the same or higher than the contrast.

I used this setting under custom. It made ahuge difference in black details.

I to just used your settings on my 3252. Great job! PBS was running a gardening show when I tested it and my o my the colors POP but naturally and oh so sweet! Skin tones are good and the 3D effect is strong! I'm loving my LN-S3252 and it's even better now! Thanks!

BTW I tested this set side by side with the Vizio 37 that Costco has on sale. I am in my BB return privilage so I had to try. I'd basically save aprox $500 and gain 5" and QAM but I couldn't even come close to the Sammy's picture. Back goes the Vizio.

i've had a regular Tivo box for years now. I know they now have HD Tivo but my question is, will using just a regular Tivo w/any of these sets be ok? I don't want to have to fork out more money for an HD Tivo especially since I have a lifetime subscription to my regular Tivo.

I am considering either the LNS4692 or 4696.

thanks.

I have a ReplayTV connected via the S input and it's OK. Not great but liveable. You'll eventually want an HD PVR but that's for later...

Same here. My SD ReplayTV sadly just ain't cutting it over S-Video or Component into the LNS4092D. I really want that HD Tivo coming out later this year. I would go with Comcast's HD DVR but I haven't heard many good things about it.

I put these settings in and at first glance it looks really good on TV signals. I'll try it out some more tonight with DVDs when I have more time. Thanks.

Do you also have the energy savings set to medium?

I think you might be right. I know that the new HP-S4253 plasma manual says that DNIE is "not available" in Movie mode. It could be that this limitation is actually implemented across the line, even if its not specified in the manual (or at least, I couldn't find it in the 92D or 51/2D manuals).

If you're talking about the Moxi, I have one of those too in my living room. (Sony HDTV) and it's a joy
Glad I don't have to buy it and can wait for something better to come along.

I'm really confused. What's the difference between 4051, 4052 and 4092?
51D = black with chevron styling (the "V")
52D = white with chevron styling
92D = black with square bezel.

The 51 and 52 use the same panel and electronics. The 92 uses an upgraded panel (greater contrast and response time) (not sure about the electronics). Don't have exact spec differences in front of me, but I believe they've been posted before in this thread.

Does anyone know what to expect as far as supporting 1:1 1080p input mode from PC? (and other devices that can output 1080p). I saw the 40" 720p set and am keenly interested in the 1080p models.

I'm not current on the subject, and it's an absolute requirement for me. In the past I know people have had alot of problems with this; issues like limitations of dvi or hdmi connectors, which video cards can output it, whether the inputs only support 1080i, etc.
hey guys...i'm considering either the 51D or 92D...which do you think i should get?
NYC guy:

Yes, I'm using medium backlight setting.

Med energysaver/backlight sucks the life out of my set and the PQ. Speaking of which...my S41..has begun powering itself on and off. It started this 11pm the day of my last return day for BB (hahahahaha).

It won't stay on for more than 5 mins at a time..and then begins power cycling...increasing in freq until it's just continually trying to start up and shut off, but never makes it back on. At that point..nothing works. You can't control it from power on button, nor remote. Just unplug it.

It's toast.
Sounds like static interference effecting the BIOS boot up cycle. Just unplug the power cord for about 2 Mins and plug it back in. That should reset it.
These things boot up almost like DVRs, hence the long start up time and start up Sound.

Also, what do you mean by Medium Energy saver is not good? Why would that be bad?

Does the Sammy have any problems receiving audio on the HDMI port from the Scientific Atlanta HD box distributed by Cablevision in NJ?

Is the video from the HDMI port noticably better than component?
