This is what is reported by various software on discs that the ES15 created - and more than one person has confirmed it already. How would this be "erroneous"?
Agree its highly unlikely that several s/w packages and people are reporting erroneous results, but until I confirm it myself with one of the new recorders and the s/w that I am familiar with (TDA), this information is suspect based on Panny's track record of providing 704x480 max resultion (I own various generations of Panny DVDRs including the first generation E10, so I have a little corporate knowledge in this area). However, Bill1313's post above may provide the answer (including why I did not see this on the EH50). This may make the new DVD-RAM recordings incompatible with Panasonic's MovieAlbum software which appears to have a maximum transcoding resolution preset of 704x480. Agree that other than the potential compatibility issues with legacy tools/recorders, this is indeed good news. It will be interesting to see if the new Panny HDD recorders with the higher full D1 resolution (if true) play nice with the older Panny HDD recorders with Broadcast D1.
For example, Houston Guy confirmed that the ES15 does not create "high speed dubbing" compatible recordings for the HDD recorders but this has not been tested to my knowledge with a 2006 vintage Panny HDD recorder. I will fully test my new EH75's (80GB HDD) compatiblity with the older Panny HDD recorders wrt to mixing full res recordings and high speed dub compatibility this weekend and report my results. It's been awhile since Panny has put something out that has got me intersted in testing again. Tired of reading about TVGOS functionality issues.
