I'm sure this topic has been discussed but I didn't find anything in the search and this thread is 600 pages long so I'm going to ask again.
I bought a 50" HLS5087W back in November '06. I love the TV, it's been very good to me.
Anyway, I'm trying setup my TV so I can get the major networks in HD over the coax from Comcast free of cost. Based on everything I've read my TV has the relevant hardware/tuner to pull this off but I haven't been able to do so.
Here's what I've tried so far:
1. Coax from Comcast is split at the TV with a run going into both coax inputs - Antenna and Cable.
2. I go into Menu < Channels < Auto Program < Air+Cable < then I have three options (STD, HRC, IRC) to scan for all the channels. Not sure which of those three options is best or if it matters. The scan finds approximately 70 stations.
3. When I try to navigate to the supposed HD channels (eg: NBC is 30.1 in my area) via the remote nothing happens.
Also, not sure if the fact that there's a hyphen on the remote and not a period has anything to do with not being able to get to 30.1, etc. I'm technically trying to navigate to 30-1 I guess.
So, what am I missing? Thanks in advance!
