Ok this is hopefully not too far off topic...It deals with programming quite a bit, but i think it relates specifically to the very sharp/high res Samsung sets.
I have the 5087w and (currently) Time Warner 8300HD w/ HD package. The HD stuff looks great, but low analog SD and even a lot of the digital SD looks pretty poor. I switched to them to get the all in one package even though I've been w/ Dish for some time. Everything is connected w/ good component cables.
Dish has offered to give me the 622 and some discounts if I stick with them for another year. What I'm trying to get a good opinion on is the comparison of Dish vs Time Warner, with "real life experience" on these Samsung sets, on these areas:
1. The 8300HD vs 622, operation and DVR features: this one seems a no brainer. The 8300HD even compared to my current SD Dish DVR is pretty poor. The only plus seems to be the dual tuner, but the 622 has that now I think (just using it to power 1 TV). Can it do 2 HD's at once?
2. Analog SD vs Dish digital SD: again seems a no brainer, but some of my recorded dish stuff off the old DVR (which only has S-video) does look a bit iffy...
3. Dig SD vs Digita SD
4. HD quality: I must say the TWC stuff looks great on DISCHD and INHD1/2. Not sure how much better it can look
I have to say, the only channels I would miss on Dish are the INHD's, which have quite good stuff. Do the 20+ other channels make up for it?
5. OTA integration (ok this is way into the 622 hardware topic, but I'm guessing anyone answering this has good experience w/ it).
Thanks in advance for answering (or moving this to another thread!)
