I just came back from BB, CC, and Fry's. Fry's only had the 86 series as well as BB. Circuit City had the 5687 series and i've got to be honest, the 87 series really sux. I tweaked it as much as i could but the reason i never liked DLP's is still there, NOISE! Was watching the HD basketball game (pistons/cavs) and there was an aura around each player and it wasn't spiritual. The SXRD next to it was smooth, showed no jaggies whatsoever. In fact, the new Sammy plasma and new Sammy 46" LCD was nearby and they both looked awesome. If the 87 series really is 10 bit then the 88 series won't matter, to me at least. BB had the new 720p Toshiba DLP and it looked better than the 87 series Sammy, although the Toshiba wasn't anything to write home about. I'm eliminating DLP from my consideration and will go with the new SXRD, or just revert back to my original plans of getting a new plasma and scrap plans for an HTPC. The bottom line is PQ, and to me, the SXRD, without the color issues and HD as the primary source, is far better than a DLP, and plasma once again reaffirms my belief that they give the best PQ overall including DVD's and SD sources.
