Some feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

If you want HD channels then go with Directv. Comcast Seattle is really behind when it comes to adding HD channels.

Yeah that's what I am thinking, I just wanted to hear from somebody who has made the switch from Comcast to Direct and was happy to justify my decision.

I went from TCI to Dish 9 years ago & haven't looked back.

I have been with D* for two years and do like the service. I do have a problem with fox (KCPQ) of dropping out both audio and picture but have I think narrowed it to a hardware issue with the H20 I have. Beware of what you hear from CSR's, not only D*'s.This is happening only with the HD side of KCPQ.

Post once again about the problems encountered on the poor picture quality of the SD local channels on Directv.

KOMO Seattle has a major and extremely annoying problem with their sound! Their Dolby Digital feed is mostly coming from the left speaker and there is no way to compensate for it! It has been this way for two weeks now and it hasn't changed. This problem is appearent on everything they are broadcasting.

I thought maybe it could have been a Dish Network problem but since the same phenomenon occurs when pulling the OTA feed from the antenna I know it's not Dish.

Do they not notice this? What could cause this?
I'll check when I get home from work. I get it from D*. I haven't had this happen before. I have Carpoolers from last night on the DVR to test it out.
KOMO-DT has good 5.1 audio via D*. No problems here. Maybe your audio equipment is to blame?
I get it via cable box and 5.1 sounds fine but it goes out of sync A LOT...

Hmmm well it seems to have gone back to normal again. It's not my equipment because it was happening at work as well. I guess I'll see what happens.
Now it just seems to be on certain programs. I'm watching ABC World News which was recorded OTA from the antenna and it it's all coming from the left side.

Directv has added KMYQ HD (22) to the Seattle spotbeam.
Would be nice to see them add a channel that had some good content like CW11 (Smallville, Supernatural, etc.).

I agree, but suspect that getting a commitment to carry KMYQ was part of the agreement to carry KCPQ.

Has anyone else noticed increased macroblocking for KOMO HD on Directv recently? It seems to come and go here (and OTA is next to impossible for that channel at my location). The other HD locals aren't experiencing the same problem.

Yes, I've noticed it, too. But it's the same with my OTA HDTV reception, on both my HR10-250 and HR20/HR21 DVRs. So I'm guessing it's a source/broadcast issue from KOMO.

I have not noticed any macroblocking on KOMO through the Dish or the antenna. The sound issue seems to be gone as well.

There is a link in the HDTV Programming Forum to a schedule for transitioning the local SD uplinks from analog to digital (9/1 for both Directv and Dish in Seattle). This should result in better picture quality for some of the SD locals.

Edit: That schedule was revised to 9/29, but as of 9/30 is hasn't happened and the analog pickup is still being used by Directv at least.

It looks like KCPQ HD will finally be coming to Dish Network subscribers http://www.tvpredictions.com/dishtribune061308.htm.

The switch to the digital signal occurred this morning. Since they are center-cutting the picture, there are a few minor issues (the crawl at the bottom of the news broadcast on KONG is cut off at the edges, hiding part of the Comcast logo and the time/weather. The KCTS-HD bug will probably confuse a few folks.

The snows of the past few weeks didn't affect satellite reception for me at all, but tonight I can't get any of the Directv (Ku or Ka) signals with less than one inch of snow.

KCTS (9). KSTW (11) and KONG (16) are now carried in HD by Directv.

You may not have to wait too long--it is being tested. Check out the "cutting edge" forum on dbstalk.com (registration is required to access this) for more information. Be sure to read about the rules and risks before joining in on the fun.

Thanks. I knew it was being tested in CE, but I'd prefer to wait until its available in a national release. I spend enough time troubleshooting and configuring and tinkering with my HTPC stuff and other toys at home. I've just been anticipating it for non OTA content (and not having to duplicate recording schedules). My HTPCs do MRV for all OTA available content.

Just noticed last Monday KVOS is now on ch 12 for Directv customers.
