Anybody that has a Game Boy Micro

Hi all,

I'm hoping somebody with one of these can answer a question for me. I just purchased one and I am wondering if I can use the "Nintendo GameCube - Game Boy Advance Cable" with the micro? I would rather avoid buying the game boy player for my Gamecube ($49.99) and just go with this cable ($9.95).

Can you play your game boy advance games on your Gamecube with the cable? I know you can with the actual player, but wasn't clear on whether or not the cable allowed that as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

1) The Micro doesn't have a GC-to-Gameboy cable. I don't know if Nintendo has plans to release one.

2) The GC-to-Gameboy cable that does exist isn't used to play Gameboy games on the GC. Its used for GC games that use the Gameboy as a controller or accessory.

If you want to play Gameboy games on your TV, you will have to use a GB Player.

So for Metroid Fusion, for example, it says I can unlock the original NES Metroid in Metroid Prime but only by uising the Fusion gamepak. So, can I do that by using the Gamecube Gameboy player?

Unfortunately, that won't work. The GBPlayer essentially turns your GameCube into a GBA so you'll need to connect your Cube+GBPlayer to another Cube to unlock the extra game.

remember that when you use your GB Player, you not only have the cartridge in the cartridge slot, but you have to have the boot disc in the GC. So, as someone already said, think of your GC as a Gameboy when using the GB Player.

The GB to GC connectivity comes in when you have the GC disc in place, like Metroid Prime, and you plug in a cable from your GB that connects to the GC's controller port.

So, basically I'm screwed because I purchased the newest model of the Game Boy Advance? Well, that certainly sounds like Nintendo...

Well, there is a workaround if you want to get your hands dirty:

Thanks Shawn, you are a lifesaver! I was getting myself used to the idea of buying a GB SP...

Thanks again,

Quikzilver,
No problem. If you make one, let us know how it goes.

Here's another workaround but it's not as practical. ;)

ksiddique,

That guy has wayyy to much time on his hands and way too many friends with Gamecubes & GBAs.

Shawn, I'm going to be building that cable myself this weekend. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I still can't believe Nintendo would release a new version of GBA and not support it with accessories. This reminds me of Sega and their console days.

Cheers guys,
Quik
