Glad to hear you escaped catastrophe with the light! You aren't alone. No matter how diligent we are, we've all been there.

A few new updates!

I picked up an Onkyo 1008 to handle my digital switching duties. That is the most I have ever spent on a receiver but I did it with the intentions of simplifying my rack immensely. I am still torn on whether or not I get rid of my amps or not. This thing has plenty of power as is.

I also decided to put everything back in the Middle Atlantic rack instead of building a shelf. I picked up some casters and I liked the idea of being able to move all of my gear around if need be (I don't need to but I guess I am planning on lots of upgrades! ).

The MOST MAJOR change is my projector upgrade. In the back of my mind it was a foregone conclusion that my projector would be upgraded when I went to a scope screen and the Panasonic free lamp and extended warranty deal was too good to pass up!

The only thing remaining was to get that big honking CRT projector down from the ceiling...but how would I do that by myself and only my tiny little wife to help?

Simple...take it apart!

The theater looks so much larger with this huge ceiling space being open now!

You can see I haven't quite landed on where the new Panasonic AE4000 will be mounted. It is currently resting on top of my popcorn machine behind the risers. I like it being that far back because it is out of the way...but I will likely have some head/shadow issues because I have my screen mounted so low...but I can only raise it about another 3"...a few compromises to come I think.

Pretty excited about the picture so far and the auto-zoom feature is incredibly impressive and has that "WOW!" factor.

A few other things that came along for the ride with the new projector:

APC UPS for digital lamp protection!
Monoprice Recessed Pro Power Kit
Monoprice Projector Mount
Oppo BDP-93 that I won from an AVS regional get together!

The weather is getting really nice so it is tough to get things done in the basement. My goal is to get the projector mounted and wired up. I will probably hold off on the surround speaker build until this next fall/winter to give me something to do.
