Him: Optoma sales.... speaking
Me: Hi, have a couple of questions about .....

Him: The Costco HD6800 bundle ?
Him: US or Canada ?

Me: ummm ya, err Canada, how did you know ?

Him: Lots of calls about it, it's been crazy! What a deal you guys got up in Canada! Getting calls all day long.

Art-yow,

I am interested to hear your opinion of the difference between the HT 6800 product and the dual-purpose presentation/HT EP1690. I have a Mits HC3000 and am really happy with it. But it is in a light controlled environment. I have another location that is not light controlled and am looking at the brighter EP1690, wondering what I will have to give up in terms of scaler, deinterlacer, optics, noise reduction, etc. I am not RBE sensitive, so the 2x wheel doesn't bother me.

For those of you still waiting, maybe you will get it today. I am in Edmonton, AB and maybe they are targeting city by city.

If you call the costco.ca number earlier in the thread, after you get through a few prompts it will ask for your order number. Type it in and it will give you a UPS tracking number.

The tracking number isn't much help though, mine shows my projector arriving in Winnipeg yesterday at 10am and never leaving. It didn't show that information until this morning, so it's far from real-time. Hopefully it will arrive soon, as the tracking information has me a little worried that someone in Winnipeg might have walked off with it.

I agree. I just got off the phone with Costco.ca and they told me my item had shipped. I asked why it still said "in process" on the web site. The girl said because the ceiling mount was back-ordered, the "in process" would remain. Seems odd, they have a "partially shipped" option as well. However, as I said earlier, Optoma told me that the entire bundle including the ceiling mount had shipped. My tracking # with UPS still isn't working......so who knows at this point.

Doh!, it was shipped yesterday but I didn't know about unitl today and well, long story short, no one was home to receive it... One more night, sniff, sniff. But at least it is before next Wednesday, yay!

P.S. Even more good news, my Toshiba Qosmio G30 came in, 1080P source with 720P PJ, I guess I am not coming back to office ever again.
These comments make me feel good I was thinking mine hadn't even shipped yet because the in process is still up on the website for my 6800. I live in Calgary, AB so maybe ill find it today when I come home from work! :P

When do you expect we, Vancouver islanders, could see the UPS guy's show up at the door with the box?
I am concerned cause I'm going out of the island to the main land next weekends
for my son's soccer tournament games.

Thanks in advance.

Skyeo, UPS has informed me that it takes approx. 4 business days from Mississauga to Victoria. Mine shipped Wednesday, so Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Hmmm 4 business days from Mississagua to Victoria! It should be taken almost the same period, I guess. Mine shipped Wednesday also, so maybe Tuesday or Wednesday of next week for Nanaimo.

Thx a lot Jay, you were much help. Good luck your pakages in excellent condition.

I still have not received the HT6800. I just found out it was shipped yestereday and is supposed to arrive today.

In the mean time I am using the EP1690 with a Samsung DVDR135 upconverting DVD player. I have it connected through HDMI to DVI as well as S Video. I find the HDMI and upconverting does not really make a difference in the picture quality as compared to S Video. The picture is good with ambient light, however the colors tend to be a bit washed out in the default "Bright" mode. I find that the vibrant color feature is not effective and colors tend to bleed when it is turned on.

I let you know more next week once I have the HT 6800 and an AVIA DVD.

Got confirmation from UPS that mine was shipped on the 24th, not the 23 as Optoma said and is scheduled to arrive on the 30th in Victoria, BC.

Why is my tracking number not recognized on ups???
Could anybody tell me the right phone number for Optoma Canada to check with them about my order? The numbers that I find online do not work.

Ordered on August 7th, received the email from Costco earlier this week that "... the other components are being shipped immediately."

I see that several people who ordered later than me already received the projector and the screen, but there is nothing going on with my order - it is not shipped, the credit card is not charged, Costco Customer service keeps telling me that it will be shipped "this week, because of the delay with the mounts".

905-361-2582, ask for Devan.....he is the customer service guy. I know there were at least 200 units that Optoma shipped out Wed, Thurs. and Friday.

Hey there,

Does your number start with "1z" and be a total of 18 characters long. It may take a day for the number to be active on the UPS web site.

Opened up my screen and it is in great condition. A real chemical stink comes off of it when opened - hope that passes soon.

Otherwise the projector is great! I have stayed up until 3am the last two nights checking out DVD's. The wife is shopping theatre chairs and maybe thinks we need a HD cable/sat feed....... High WAF

Great news Al. Glad to hear the screen was in great shape. I'll have to see how it handles the trip to BC!

Got mine yesterday, ordered on the 7 Aug . everything perfect condition and the screen is a graywolf II , YES. i went to bed around 2:30 am , the installation is done. I find the screen very bright and when there is a panning scene the image wobble a little bit , maybe some adjustment i can do. My set up is hd 6800, bell expressvue 9200 HD, oppo 971 upscaled to 720p, outlaw 970 preamp (dvi connection) 4 adcom amp (1600 Watt rms) , axiom speakers (M80 X 2, VP150 X 1, QS8 X 4). i used to have a Benq 6100, one thing i can say is that now the hair of milla jovovich in the Fifth element are really Orange like i never saw before, case close.

I got mine today! Yepee, now I got to go out and get a long hdmi cable... tried it a little and looked ok. Now I need to rearrage the whole room.

^may i suggest blue jean cables if you want a long one, i got mine shipped to canada, 30 feet and it was around $120. super high quality cables, also got a 30 foot component. my buddy at a hifi store said there is still alot of issues with hdmi and i'm running the cables in my ceiling while my reno is on so i wanted to be sure and the extra $100 was worth the peace of mind. they came withtin a week

bluejeanscable <- into google (sorry they blocked my url, i'm a n00b)

Ceiling mount arrived today

sh0,
How's the quality of Blue Jeans HDMI and Component cables compared to Monoprice's.
From what I can tell Blue Jeans 25ft HDMI is silver plated 24 AWG for $51.75 and Monoprice has a 25ft gold plated 24AWG for $29.51 and a 22AWG for $38.01. Both i think ship to Canada.

Also is it better to use an HDMI to HDMI cable for a projector ? Or just buy an HDMI to DVI-D since your not sending any audio to the pj ?

1690 brighter but lower contrast ratio for sure, made for business use more so I think.

2500:1 for the 1690

3500:1/5000:1 depending on mode for the HD6800

My thinking is considering return policy that Costco has compared to BestBuy no worries you did good getting the HD6800.

The 1690 has no component inputs either. Given it has 2500 lumens, it seems to be more geared for business presentations in a lit room using a laptop.

Hey everyone. Long time lurker, newbie poster.

Anyway, I just received my HD6800 package yesterday (Friday). How many pieces did you receive? I only received two pieces - one box containing the projector, and a big long box containing the screen. The screen box had a big gash in it, but the casing of the screen looks okay.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else received the projector mount? I didn't receive it. It wasn't in the projector box - no room for it. I haven't opened the screen box, but I can't see the mount fitting in there either.

I'm still working on my basement - need to paint the walls and put on carpet before I can mount the projector.

LaterZ!
Darren!!
