I just noticed this today as well.
Watching "Team America World Police" (which is 2.35:1) the image seems to be shifted up a bit, in turn displaying more black on the bottom.
Nothing is lost in the image, but just thought I'd let you know that you're not the only one.

Neither the original remote nor the 880 work very well much farther than 3' away. Maybe I've got a bad DVD player. Good to hear that yours works well.
Just a follow up to my post... Using a universal remote provides me slightly better range then the Phillips remote, but isn't great.
I guess the unit just has a ****** IR setup.....
.... I've got a question regarding the bit-rate display.
My older plays with this function would say 6.23Mb, 4.85Mb, etc.
This unit just shows a double digit. I.E. 40, 42, 60, 80, etc.
As that supposed to be 4.0, 4.2, 6.0, and 8.0 Mbit respectively?
