Would I really notice the difference if I upgraded the BFX tp RS FX? Can anyone who has done this share their results?
rs1's are a different size than rs8's, so naturally the midrange, midbass and low frequencies sound like a "different speaker" to me sometimes. But, i did notice a downgrade in those frequencies when I temporarily used paradigm atoms as rears during scenes where the rear channels are doing something loud and prominant, for example airplanes flying by and machine guns firing. Atoms are just not as natural sounding... more colored. The bronze suffer from this same problem IMO. You may be noticing how you are losing a bit of realism with the bronze much like i did with the Atoms. I got used to it though and kept the RS1's as bedroom speakers. Especially since I had some complaints with using even the RS1's due to size as mentioned above. I had this configuration for a long time...
...until I bought an HD-DVD player. I guess because of the sound mixing with DD+ or my settings... i dont know... but I am hearing alot more of musical passages mixed into the rear channels. Because of this, the disparity in tweeter sounds between the atoms and MA's was slapping me in the face. I couldnt tolerate it anymore, and had to bring the RS1's back in. Even though I would truely like RS8's as rears
because the RS1's even sound different to me than RS8's,
THE TWEETERS ARE THE SAME AND SOUND THE SAME.
this is why I would never ever go back. Hearing all 5 tweeters harmonize with eachothers in music and movies is heaven.
