Maybe my bananas would sound better if I wrapped paper around them? Hmm . . .

Thanks

My RS8's have been playing music nonstop for the last 3 days. I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS. My reciever is the Denon 3806 and has plenty of power for my 12x18 room. However, I am easy to impress since I had the Energy Take 5 speakers all the way around my room for the last 7 years. The Monitor Audio overhaul was the last piece of my home theater puzzle.

Front stage, RS8's with the RSLCR, side surround uses the silver cp in walls, back surround uses the silver cp in-ceiling models.

I'm still playing around with placement of acoustic panels, but these are such a quantum leap from the old speakers all I can do is smile.

Next week, I add a 15" velodyne sub to the mix.

Congrats bennutt! Coming from the Take 5's, that's got to be a big upgrade in sound.

Now I have to start watching all of my movies over again!
Just played the matrix lobby scene on HD-DVD. It's like I was missing all of the great sounds in between the sub bass and whatever those energy's were kicking out.

I actually think the the Take 5's are a great little speaker system, but as they say, there is no replacement for displacement. In other words, while the Take 5's may be good for their size, they won't touch what a full range speaker like the RS8's can do.

Now go throw in the pod race scene from Star Wars episode 1, and the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan!

Yes (don't crank the volume). That'll at least tell you if the driver is working or not. Although, it sounds like you need professional help as I doubt there's a problem with the new driver. Triple check your wiring and make sure that your speakers have the jumpers installed (things that connects the two pairs of posts on the speaker). Also, try connecting the speaker wires to the other set of posts to see if your tweeter now "goes out". Are you able to post pictures?

Crossover could be out as well, I've had to change out a couple for people.

I agree about the poor performance of MA subs. I have heard the RSW12 and I didn't like it at all. No low bass extension, all tight midbass. Next.. They really need to go back to the drawing board on that sub. I also owned one of the older FB-212's, gave it plenty of chances but I ultimately ended up hating it. A $2k sub should not bottom out and distort as easily as this one would. I used to just sit there and stare at it with anger as it would let me down again and again. I wholesaled it the first chance I got for a Sunfire True Sub Eq, ahh theres my low end with no crunching and clanking.

Although I will say the Radius 720 has been a pleasant surprise, and I would say it is MA's best sub. Problem is it is expensive and easily beaten by cheaper subwoofers. If they stopped carrying subs I wouldn't be all that upset.

Do not even worry about bi-amping dude. Just go listen to your speakers and enjoy them.

I think it's official.... this dude is a troll.
I would much rather get alerts for legitimate questions and reviews rather than read "illiterate question of the day".

Throw bi-amp into a google search if you care, which you don't.

Go start a Kraco car stereo thread and ask how to adjust the volume or maybe "which side does red wire go on...please tell me how"
People have spent a lot of time answering your questions. Perhaps if you were more respectful, and thankful, you'd get some more help. Those are old fashioned ideas, but they go a long way, even on the internet.

bballgms, you've stepped over the line. You certainly aren't going to get the help you seek with that approach. The problem here is, you ask questions that you could find the answers to by doing more research on your own, and most of them have nothing to do with MA speakers. You can't expect everyone else to do the work for you. If you really want to learn more about this hobby, put a little more effort into it. Use the search function of this forum to find others that have asked the same questions before you and go to web sites like www.ecoustics.com, www.stereophile.com, www.ultimateav.com, and www.hometheatermag.com and read the articles on how to get good sound. If, after reading those articles, you don't understand something, you can seek help in this forum but place your post in the appropriate area, and write in complete, coherent sentences, not text-messaging speak.

Yeah, that wasn't cool, but watch the language or you are likely to get booted off of this forum.
