I'll be upgrading from my RSAV set but I'll keep those for another room. Far too good to sell.

Whats the difference between the old Gold Reference/GR and Gold Standard/GS line ?
post #7147 of 9217
I love my Rosemah GS20 / GSLCR but *IF* the GX are an actual improvement over the sound of the GS I'll be upgrading too. I hope there'll be an Ebony finish like the Platinum's have. Are there any specs on the GX's yet like dimensions and weight?

Im torn between the GX100 and GX200 though. My room is only 17' x 17' x 9' but one whole wall is open to a 34' x 16' kitchen / eating area and and other wall has an opening to the foyer / hall / living room entrance. The GS20's I have sound great, even in 2ch mode but the take up a decent amount of floor space and I never really get to give them a good work out. So Im wondering if the GX100 / GX150 center may be the best combo? My current receiver is a Marantz 5004, but Im considering either the 5005 or 6005 for some of the new features.

Does anyone know of wall mounted shelves / brackets that would work for the GX100 / GX150? I dont have shelves to place the speakers on. my current TV is wall mounted 50" and we'd like to upgrade to a 60" and mount the center on the wall above the TV so the TV can be mounted lower on the wall.

Not sure if these will work for your needs, but eventually I'll be mounting my MAs using Pinpoint AM-40 mounts.

GX Finish options- Dark Walnut, Bubinga(similar to rosewood), Piano Gloss Black & White

No detailed specs yet, but new C-Cam ribbon is rated over 60 KHz.

Hi friends,Will BXFX Surrounds match a set of RX 1/2 + RX Center....?

Or will there be there be a sonic mis-match..?

My dealer is telling me to save money on RXFX and go for BXFX.What do you guys say ?

Thanks.

Hi, First time posting to this thread...

I have a home theater currently with a 3.1 setup:

right & left: BX5
center: BX Center
sub: BXW 10

I'm now adding the L&R surrounds, but due to shape of my room I have to get ceiling mounted speakers. Ideally, I'd love to get the C265FX speakers. The web site however documents that they are matched with the silver line, while thus far all my speakers are bronze.

Do you think this matters? I can opt to go with the Bronze CP IC...which is of course matched...but not an FX speaker.

What do you think? My "plan" was to eventually have a 7.1 setup with the C265FX for LR surround and Bronze CP IC for rear surround.

IMHO opinion, as it is the surround channel I wouldnt be too concerned. Once you've ran the room setup on your amp it will likely smooth out any small inconsistencies. Theyre still the same breed of speaker.

If you have the cash, get the matched set. If not, go the BXFX and dont worry about it.

Others may disagree but it doesnt sound like bad advice from your dealer to me

Be nice if there was a GS-Series trade-In special to upgrade to GX-Series.

Also, just curious, has anyone here experienced blowing any of their GS-Series drivers (tweeter or mid-range)?

damien thanks for the tip...

Hi Fellow Members,

Hope you've had a great start to the new year...!!

I'm looking very keenly at the Monitor Audio RX line for my new 5.1 setup..

My Living Hall size in feet is....

Length = 19 feet ( 6 meters )
Width = 13 feet ( 4 meters )
Height = 9 feet ( 2.75 meters )

I'm looking at the RX 1 + RX Center + RX FX + SVS PC 12 NSD ( already bought )

Will the RX 1 be able to fill this room size ?

What's your expert views on this...

Thanks

I'm looking for a surround speaker set. I originally was going to get satellite, but folks said to get bookshelfs. I have a 3 story town home and the place where by surround sound will be is only 144 sq ft.

Should I get bookshelf speakers like the monitor 40's. or I was thinking floorstanding 50's since I would probably put the 40's on a stand anyway.

But do I need that much speaker for that size room (12 x 12).

Also, if I did get the 50's.. do you normally get all 4 floorstanding speakers plus center, or do you normally only get floorstanding in front and something else for rear?

thanks

no problem-but do yourself a favor before you buy the Polks and give MONITOR AUDIO speakers a listen Most of us here have owned or listened to Polks (myself included) and there's a reason why we're owners and subscribers to this subforum.

It will do it but will rely on the sub a lot. I have RS6/RSLCR/RSFX in a 6x5m room and am waiting to upgrade to the GX range as I'd like a bit more oomph in straight 2ch mode.

Are you going to use the system predominantly for movies or music?
post #7166 of 9217
System will be used 100 % for HT usage only.... Can i get buy with a RX 1 ?

Dont want to spend extra on RX2 if i dont really have to but will have to spend it if the RX1 can't cut it....

What do ya say....

Hi guys. I don't expect too much response in my thread about this topic so I decided to come here and seek out and direct some attention to my thread [HERE] . Basically I am looking for a sub (in Canada) which will outperform the RS-W12 in bass extension and output for the lowest cost. I appreciate any suggestions you have. Thanks in advance.

Ah, if its 100% HT then the RX1 should be fine - with all speakers set to small, your sub will do most of the heavy lifting anyway. Its pretty much a lifestyle-type system.

Hi. Im looking for GS LCR in Walnut, preferably the lighter shade (older models). Possibly looking for GS10 in same color. Thanks.
