Oh, boy... 33% off sounds like a fair discount to me (assuming $375 is the current price - I didn't check). In my room those dents wouldn't make a difference, because there's a cabinet right above (less than an inch) each speaker. But I'm picky about cosmetics in my equipment, so I still don't know if I would get them.

What I can tell you is I love my BX5's.

Looks like a good deal to me on those BX5's. As long as you you get the full factory warranty I say do it. You can always do a little touch up and you will probably never notice it or put a trophy or plant on top like they suggest.

Hi guys. In the middle of auditioning speakers. Was leaning towards some Focal 800 series, but then gave a listen to the GX 200s. Retail base is significantly above the Focals though... Does anybody know what a reasonable price in these in the gloss black would be?

Also, does anybody have experience with B stock? I saw retailer in Michigan has B stock listed, but they are not on MA's website. Then again I'm not sure they are classified as "online".

Indeed! Also, if you regret later, you can sell them and buy new ones without losing too much money.

Prices in Brazil are so surreal that I always forget that option. I'd lose a lot here to make such an exchange.

Thanks, although I've been looking. After some more thought I think I may go with the 50s or 100s and keep my eyes open for a deal on some 300s for less than new 200s.

Can anybody comment who has heard both? Right now my dealer doesn't have either. I went over the past 50 pages of this thread. A's far as I can tell, to include some online reviews, the 100s are not necessarily an improvement over the 50s despite the larger driver and 12Hz lower reach.

Happy new year everyone. I have a 5.1 system with GS 60's in front, GSLCR for center and GS 10's as surrounds. I am looking for a good subwoofer that will match up nicely with my MA speakers. I was looking at the JL audio F110 but I rather not spend so much on the sub if i can find something else. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

I am building a 5.0 system in my room of 40 sf, with BX2, BX Centre and BXFX. I plan to match them with a Yamaha 673 receiver. and a Pioneer 150K BR player.
Do you think this setup would be overkill for such a small room and also, if i would replace the receiver with an Onkyo 609, would they tend to sound brighter/harsher?
I will listen both to music and movies.
You maybe have another suggestion for equivalent priced gear more suited for my room?

There was a sub discussion on the last page. Go check that out. I'm partial to Rythmik and my next subs will be from them, but there are other good options. I read not too long ago on a forum about some guy that had heard both a JL and a Rythmik and felt the Rythmik was every bit as good as the JL. Anyway there are good options out there that won't empty the wallet quite so quickly.

I've had the gx200 for over a year, and auditioned the 300s. IMHO either one is a great speaker. The 300s will go a bit deeper at the low end of course, which may or may not make a big difference, depending on whether you have a sub. Sorry, never heard 50s or 100s.

Yep, definitely consider Rythmik. I had a pair with my RS6/RSLCR/RS1 setup and was very happy.

So I have a old Yamaha rx-v361 receiver powering 2 rx-6 towers. I have been thinking about getting some other speakers that possibly sound different/better but I'm unsure about that. Seems like everyone likes the sound. I think my problem lies with the weak receiver I have. Do u guys think that my receiver is under powered? Lacking in sound quality and power to get these babies to purr ? I think so but would like your opinions. Thanks

I have these speakers and you would probably have to spend quite a bit to step up much. I did find they sounded better (to me) when I added a power amp. More power is better for clarity than just additional volume. Since I'm pretty sure the 361 doesn't have pre-outs, you can start with the initial step of getting an AVR that does, but has more power now! If you need to add even more power, then the option is open to you. Power amps, like speakers, are likely to be with you a long time.

I have a chance to buy Monitor Audio RX8 and RX-6. I'm gonna use them for mostly movies. I have a 12" dali subwoofer, too.
but there is a $300 price difference (RX8 is $1000 and rx6 is $700). does it worth to pay extra for rx8?

PS: both are second hand.

RX8 in the front and RX6 in the back? That sounds really good. Just needs an RX Center.

If you can audition them both you should. Perhaps a magnolia or another home theater shop nearby.

I did that and found I liked the bass response more in the rx8. I primarily watch movies but do listen to music once a while. They are amazing speakers I am only powering them with a vsx52, no dedicated amp.

Other difference is the rx8 are 4ohm.

i think i will go with rx6 because of the price.

you are planning to have these speakers for a long time. If you have heard them both then great. If you haven't heard either of them you should before you spend any money. If price is the main issue, then you will be happy with the rx6 but i strongly suggest you listen to the rx8 so you can hear the difference. over the next 5++ years the difference in cost will be minimal if you are going to enjoy the more. But my opinion only, every's situation is different.

Nope I haven't. I live in Turkey and there are not much Hi-Fi stores and even if I can find one they are all expensive. Some examples:

Onkyo 5010: 7K $
Pio SC 68: 4K $
Oppo 95 (not even 105): 2,2K $
Monitor Audio RX8: 1400 GBP (if you can find one)


so I have to buy them second hand. Actually, I could ask my father for some extra money, but I don't want to do that. I am a student and also part-time worker. So the money is a big issue. I just wanna buy them by myself.

As I was told that if I go with RX8, then I have to buy 3313 instead of 2313 which means $400 extra cost and this is where it gets difficult (someone told 4-ohm speakers like rx8 need 3313). Otherwise, I would buy RX8.

Well I have a vsx52 (comparable to the 2213) powering them and they sound just fine. A dedicated amp is the best solution either way.

But you don't have a bad choice here between the two sets if you are buying them without listening so don't stress too much on it and get the one you want.

I have a question:
I have upgraded my fronts and center to Silver RX6, and now I also want to upgrade my Surrounds.
The RXFX is the obvious choise, but I don't want wall flushed speakers.
Can some of you recomend surrounds for me?
How will the Apex blend in with the RX6?

Have you considered the RX1's or RX2's? They are on both sides of the RXFX's as price goes and should be a proper match for the Rx6's.

I have the MA RX6 speakers. They are second hand and I don't have the spikes. Do the spikes make a big audiable difference on a hard (stone) floor? Is it better with the spikes on such floor?

Another question: Did someone try the SVS SB12-NSD of PB12-NSD with this speakers? Is it a great combination?

Spikes are for carpets. Just use the plinth for the stone floor and you are good. Svs is supposed to be a great sub. I went with a def tech supercube and get plenty of bass for my taste.

Did you closed the (back) bass reflex ports after adding the sub or left them open?

I currently have the GSFX surrounds with the rest of my set up being Mirage. They seem to be very compatible and am very happy with the MA's filling in the gaps. They especially shine when playing music. I use an Integra 50.2 which has many DSP modes which I'm always trying to perfect which ones work the best. But, the spatial results are astounding and am very pleased with these speakers.

I had an RS6 + SB12-NSD combo and it was excellent.
