that would fix himup good for only 599..

Find a new sales rep...

must disagree with you

not a good idea to run 4 ohm speakers on a avr that is only 8 ohm.. common sense..

rx8 can dip down to 2.9 ohm draw.. turn it up see what happens..

cheers..

Hi everyone!

I recently bought some MA BX2 speakers and really like them!

I'm thinking of getting some BX5 speakers and moving the BX2 speakers as surround sound speakers. The only problem with this is I have a small room and need some slender speaker stands (or at least a speaker stand with just one supporting pole.

Currently they sit on Mission Stance stands.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Alternatively is there a good way for attaching them to a wall?

Any help much appreciated!

Hi, I've just ordered MA BX2/BXFX/BXC. Upon enquiery, the salesman told me that the BX2 and BXC boxes bear the manufacturing date imprinted on them - but that there is no such date on the BXFX box.
Any idea why they've missed to do that?
Is there any other means to find out the manufacture date for the BXFX?
Thanks.

Maybe small shelves?

I put mine on a pair of shelves on top of a wooden panel that runs behind the entire couch and hides the wires (which makes the wife so happy...). They are BX1's, but the BX2's are not that bigger.

Wall custom shelves I'm using too.
Go to Home Depot ask for garage shelf arms then cut a piece of wood . That's it .
Or 30" premier stands

Does anyone know what type of binding posts the GX series has? I checked their website, and there are no specifications? Will they accept about any size and type of banana plugs? What about spades? What size is the diameter?

How is an AVR "only 8 ohm?" What does that even mean?

Please share where you read that the RX8 can dip down to 2.9 Ohms.

From hometheater.com, seen here,
http://www.hometheater.com/content/monitor-audio-silver-rx8-speaker-system-ht-labs-measures

"Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.37 ohms at 152 Hz and a phase angle of –40.55 degrees at 84 Hz."

This is consistent with other results I've seen (in European magazines).

specs on my denon 3313 ci which is not rated too 4 ohms it will run 6 ohm speakers ... sure at low volumes it could run 4 ohm but its a ticking time bomb..

Front:
125 W + 125 W (8 Ω, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.05 % T.H.D.)
165 W + 165 W (6 Ω, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)
Center:
125 W (8 Ω, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.05 % T.H.D.)
165 W (6 Ω, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)
Surround:
125 W + 125 W (8 Ω, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.05 % T.H.D.)
165 W + 165 W (6 Ω, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)
Surround back / Front height / Front wide:
125 W + 125 W (8 Ω, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.05 % T.H.D.)
165 W + 165 W (6 Ω, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)

notice how the distrotion rises dramitically as you get lower ohms.. go ahead run your 8 ohm avr with 4 ohm speaker its a bad set up
turn up the volume and blow your speakers from the avr clipping..

cheers

Since I live in Turkey, I am not able to find an Emotiva amp for that price. For example, sc 68 is 4000$ and onkyo 5010 is 11.000 TL (around $6000).

I don't I am going to have an overheating issue, because sc 57 is a D class amp and so that I am really relieved. Thanks a lot guys ^^

PS: I tried to quote deltatube's post, but I couldn't.

Thanks. Can anyone comment on what type of bananas and or spades fit on the GXFX when mounted to the wall? If spades, I need to know the size that will fit the terminals of the GXFX. Thanks.

Notice how the power goes up as you go from 8 Ohm loads to 6 Ohm loads? So you're not comparing apples to apples.

I've powered true 4 Ohm speakers - speakers that dip to 2.5 Ohms - with a Denon 1712 with no problems at all.

8mm spades will be what you will want.

That's what fits my GX50s anyhow.

The GX300's should be here in a few weeks.

I was running infinity interludes for my fronts and center. I also replaced an old sony receiver with a onkyo tx-nr818. So far its like trading in the pinto for a ferrari!

Blue Jeans Cable said that if the terminals are ¼” diameter or less, their spades will fit. Does this fit the bill? I will only need spades for the GXFX surrounds, as they will be mounted leaning on the wall; thus the bananas may not fit. I will get bananas for the remaining speakers and amplifier.

1/4" is 6mm. The GX posts are 7.5mm thick so you will need something bigger than the Blue Jeans spades.

Has anyone had a chance to compare the MA Silver RX6's to Dali Ikon II 6's?

I am aware of the difference in price. Am interested in impressions of others on how these compare.

Thanks
Bruce
I heard the rx6 and ikon 7 on two different days at different locations. I liked the dalis better. They had a better soundstage and werent as flat sounding as the monitors. I think it might have been a lot to do with setup though. I also listened to the zensor 7's and could not tell the difference from the ikons. I really liked the zensors so i took a pair home to audition and but they gave me ear fatigue. The monitors were definitely nicer looking speakers. I ended up going with a pair of gx300's. Have you heard either one yet?

To me they sounded quite similar when I auditioned them. RX6 was deeper at the low end and it was the only difference I noticed. Both are very good, but you should try yourself what you like more.

PS. Compared it in the same setup, switching A/B outputs on an amp.

Im not an owner of either speaker, I own Dynaudios, but I like both brands youre interested in, and will give you my opinion. Ive compared the Ikon 7s to the RS6 in the same room, I have also heard the RX6s.I would say if you listen to mostly rock music the RXs might be slightly better with that type of music, but will do very well with all types of music also. If you listen to more jazz or classical, I think the Ikons will present the music with more space and air. The RXs highs and mids are good, and the sound is much smoother over the older RSs, however the RXs still might be just shy of what the Ikons will produce. The bass on the Ikon 7s were better then the RS/RX6s, and IMO, I would expect the Ikon 6s bass would be at least as good as the RXs. The Ikons IMO are a little more revealing in terms of poor recordings. If this will eventually be used for HT I would say that both should do great for HT. I have not however heard either center channel.
