I was not expecting the component issue to be resolved when it will be connected to the Plasma/LCD. However, I was hoping that using HDMI out will prove problem free. I would also assume that the HDMI/DVI output will be supprior to the component or the Svideo. As long as this is true, I wouldn't mind that component issue, at least until a fix will arrive from HK.
My only questions would be which DVD to connect to the 745......
I want to by a good standard dvd player with DVD-A/SACD support.
Currently I use Xoro dvd player. I have been using this player because I have an extensive list of international titles, and I open view divx movies.
I am currently considering the Oppo because it has the audio support that I am interensted in (SACD/DVD-a) as well as superior picture quality to the Xoro and I won't be sacrificing any of the Xoro features. On the other hand, audio quality is not in par with more "serious" players, which given my $$ investments is now important to me.
The other option is the Pioneer 59AVI. I like the digital outputs, audio/picture quality. Problem is that it does not play divx and I heard that its problematic to make it region free.
Last option is the DVD-2900. Price is great, good audio support. however it has the same issues like the 59AVI AND it does not have HDMI/DVI output..... With an amp like the 745 do I really need the HDMI/DVI output from the dvd player? Or can I Just hook the player to the amp using component and output HDMI from the amp without sacrificing picture quality?
Not sure what to do.....
Option 1) Get the 59AVI or DVD-2900 and keep my current dvd player to for Divx/international movies support. In the future, I will replace my divx/region-free player with ideally an HD capable Oppo, which will play divx/pal movies. This way I will still have a quality audio player as well as a HD/divx/region-free support from a quality transport.
Option 2) Get the oppo and buy a stand alone SACD/DVD-a player if I am not pleased with the audio quality.
I think option 1 is better but would love to hear what you all think.
