Klipsch owner thread - Page 348

Need some placement advice/experience from fellow RF-83 owners. Ideal distance between the wall and the 83s for best bass response.

I do have placement constraints but I'd like to hear what folks suggest before factoring it in. Well less than a foot for sure.

Just got these bad boys and I'm busying dialing them in and noticed that bass being not as prominent in the lower end as were my 82s in the same spot.

Thanks
KvE

Someone shoot me a PM if you have a pair of old RF-3's or RF-5's available and are willing to ship them. Thanks!

Hello I am looking at upgrading my current speakers. I want to listen to music at very high volumes. I have a medium sized room and would like to play my blu rays in surround sound and have it sound like I am at the concert. I would not consider myself an audio file however I like loud music and have a keen ear for distortion. My current fronts are Energy 500 C's. Future shop has a sale on Klipsch RF-52 II plus a 10" sub (RPW- 10) for $899 canadian. Is that a good price? Will they far out preform my current Energy's? Please give me your opinions as I need to pull the trigger in the next couple of hours.

I am sorry to ask a dumb question, but would the lower crossover points imply? Would that mean that the speakers could go lower in terms of bass response? If you are using a sub, will the lower crossover points even matter?

No, crossover means internally ie from tweeter to woofers...

Means the tweeter can play lower and the mids might sound better.

I am so scared of switching to klipsch without ever hearing them. It really seems to be a taste you either have or you dont.

I want to keep my JTR's but REALLY could use the money... grrr so scared to downgrade

If it gives you any comfort, I just sold a Monitor Audio set that I loved, and picked up an RC-7 center and RB-75's for about a third of what I sold my MA's for.... and could NOT be happier. Haven't done much critical listening yet with music, but they stomp my MA's in every aspect with movies.

But, everyone has different ears. So who knows until you hear some Klipsch for yourself.

watching sin city and wow I forgot how sick my setup was... I am going to TRY to keep them... I hopeif not its rf-7's

7.2 setup w/

(2) RF-82
(1) RC-62
(4) RS-62 pair
(2) SVS PB12-NSD

+ slightly less hearing and a blown light bulb.

125db can do some nasty things... was shocked when a light blub in my equipment room blew due to the sound lol.

Haven't started tweaking it yet but initial impressions are... well impressive.

My questions/concerns are:

Do klipsch RF speakers give the wide and deep sound stage that eliminates the feeling that you are listening to a speaker making sound but rather that sound is just occurring?

With JTR I can easily lose focus on the speakers because the imagine is so on point that the speakers because irrelevant.

Also do they handle dynamics well?

I know that $4000 internet direct speakers are going to beat much cheaper mass market speakers but I can't lose the imaging and clarity... Just cant
post #10422 of 22397
Because of the horns the klipsch speakers tend to be far more dynamic than most other speakers out there in the higher ranges. I can't see you having any problem with imaging and clarity. As long as you have a decent amp they'll be as clear as you want.

I notice a lot of detail on my RF63s that I haven't heard on any other speaker or nice set of headphones.

Looking for some suggestions for a center channel speaker to compliment a pair of Klipsch 3.5's. Ive been using the 3.5's with a stereo receiver for a few years and have to decided to go with a home theatre system in my basement. I like the 3.5's a lot and dont want to replace with something newer. Will be upgrading to an a/v receiver around 90-100 wpc, not sure if I will do more than 5.1 at this time. I might do 7.1 at a later time. Any suggestions on the center would be appreciated.

Could also use some suggestions for a pair of rears and a powered sub.

Budget is not unlimited, in fact its kind of low but would want something at least the same quality as the 3.5's which I will be using as fronts.

I can't believe anyone would purchase speakers without hearing them and given your anxiety I definitely wouldn't.

When the lights are down it's not even like having speakers but different soundstages that I am in the middle of.

Klipsch RB-75s Rock! We are using a pair as mains in our bedroom (along with RC-7) and as rears in our main HT...I am surprised that the new Reference line doesn't have anything comparable and for their footprint I prefer them over the Heresies.

I have never heard any of the speakers I have owned before buying. Unless you have the money to pay retail it is impossible ie. used paradigms, infinity beta 50's and now jtrs

I've been waiting for clearance prices on the old Ref lineup now that Klipsch has retired them. The usual outlets haven't lowered their prices, but JR Music has now listed a "Call for latest price" notice on the old reference speakers. Maybe this is the start of the closeout sale.....?

hello everyone again ,i had a simple question this time around .how can i test my woofer or drives on my rc 62 that they are working ? to the touch i feel the vibration and of course i hear sound ,people talking .is most of the sound coming from the horns or the woofers cauz i could swear i hear one woofer have more sound than the other .....maybe i m just a little crazy .so is there any good test discs to test my speakers or drives and how do you test your drives? thank you

Fwiw, I have NEVER paid retail for audio gear and can't believe in the NY area you can't find dealers that will compete against each other to have your business. Granted, in the used market you will get your best deals, but at least go and listen to what Klipsch speakers sound like and find out if the place you audition is ready to wheel-and-deal on what they are trying to move...If not, at least then you can make a more informed decision when purchasing on the internet. My 2 cents.

I keep hoping they bring back an updated version of the RB-75. The RB-81 is no slouch, but it not quite on par with the RB-75.

I am totally guessing here, but feel the upper end Reference (made in Hope, AR) won't go on sale because there was a limited supply...I remember seeing an RF-83 owner not being able to get an older RC-64 from his dealer and calling Klipsch and they said it is no longer in production.

Well it seems with klipsch that no 2 speakers sound similar (from what I read) and I am close to buying rf-7's which are supposedly VERY different from say the rf-62's and their would be no carry over from listening
post #10433 of 22397
The RB-75's are really terrific speakers. I couldn't believe how BIG they were when I first saw them. In my moderately-sized room, they are perfect.

goon, you can listen first.. just wait for some to pop up locally for sale and go audition. I've listened to every used speaker before I bought. Are the RF-7's you're considering not local? Where are they?

Not local but a screaming deal with the deanG mod. There are some semi locally but he wants $300 more than the guy wants WITH shipping AND the crossover mod... It's not local enough to just go listen (couple hours)

What is the deanG mod ??

Gonna have to read the klipsch forum... I don't really understand all the technical stuff

Really meant to eliminate capacitors or things that get in the way of the signal or something like that

I was hoping that you might know, now I'll have to do a search on that mod name and see what pops up! Work, work, work!
