Has anyone here gone from the KLF series to the newer Reference series? I was wondering how they stacked up. I remember being very impressed with the KLF series and I've never heard the RF series. I'm wondering if it might be worthwhile to look for a used pair of the KLF's or just stick with the newer RF series.

There is no guesswork on the Jubilee's (and I realize he's made no reference to having an interest in them, this is for any other casual readers benefit). Roy Delgado at Klipsch has taken PWK's last project and put it together in two formats. One which most have used, using the large....ok, freaking huge K402 horn on top and the other with the much smaller K510. The K510 COULD be put into a tophat much like a Khorn if someone wanted to build a top like that. I personally think that would look very nice. You could bury a passive in there like the Khorn or stay with the active crossover. If someone ever contemplates buying a NEW pair of Khorns then consideration of the Jubilee is at minimum a no-brainer. It will cost less and sound better (period). If they are debating a used pair of Khorns then obviously, the entire cost equation changes.

OK-Just for the lurkers.. When you order your jubilees they come complete with crossover?

and could we have a picture please?

No. When ordered they come with the bass bin and the HF horn. You then decide if you want to go passive or active.

BOTH solutions have been engineered by Klipsch. With the passive, you would have someone take the schematic and build it or of course, build it yourself.

If you choose active then get an appropriate active and plug in the paramaters that have already been articulated by Roy (Delgado at Klipsch....co-designer of the Jubilee with PWK)

So the main point to realize is there is ZERO guesswork. It really is as simple as plug & play, especially if you go active as I did. Trust me, if a monkey like me can program this active, any monkey can do it. Even aside from that, the EV unit has a .TLX file that could be emailed and someone could simply upload the program into the unit and be done!

The units in the picture do not belong to me. Mine are the industrial black. These belong to a fine gent in Montreal.

^^^ oh my.. nice.

they look 6ft tall I just downsized from LaScalas to Ultra2 THX.. Those would be sweet..I'd put up with the lack of WAF for those.
This will give you an idea of how big that top horn is, relative to a LaScala! (this is some playing around I did this past summer, using the two MWM bass bins, LaScala WOOFER (only), with the K402 on top to make a 3-way triamped mono speaker). The K402 horn is larger than the entire LaScala (as far as frontal length width is concerned)

Sound was absolutely killer.

The "JubeScala" is the LaScala bass bin with the K402 on top as a 2-way, signal aligned biamped speaker.

I've learned a lot about the benefits of a good 2-way over a good 3-way. Amazing how more coherent the sound is and how much closer the sound comes together.

Edit: The Jubilee is about 67" tall

True. I also hear from a few Aussies on the forum that Heritage has absolutely no presence there. I don't know how big the facility in Hope is? Maybe it doesn't take much to overwhelm them?

I gotta to get an invite to hear his system! But he seemed to have dropped the Klipsch forum; I haven't heard of him in a long time.
How close are you? I can send him an email if you'd like?
Coytee, I appreciate the invite and hope to take you up on it some day.

I'm 600 km away, but I go to Montreal for work one week in March every year; other visits to Montreal usually involve the family so aren't as convenient for me. I have his hotmail email and I assume we are both talking about kudret, right? I forgot that he was away all summer and was out of touch, but he seems to be back now.
Yep, Kudret.

I sent him a link to this thread this morning
post #11203 of 22403
Yeah, I'd love to hear his system. I was too shy to ask him last March when I went on my annual work trip to Montreal.

So I just picked up a demo pair of WB-14s from Best Buy for 129/ea. They sound great and there's no blemishes on them at all, was this a good buy? I have a reference system currently (RF-25, RC-35, RSX-3s) and am looking to upgrade to the Icon W with WF-34s up front, along with the WC-24 and possibly a demo pair of the WS-24s for 129/ea from another Best Buy location. Good move? I really haven't had the upgrade bug in a long time as my current reference system sounds pretty damn good to my ears but I like the fit and finish of the Icon W series and am looking for slightly smaller speakers now that I'm in an apt.

Ok could some one direct me to a thread or explain to me the difference between the Quintet III and the Quintet IV, I just need to know if the differences are worth $100. Thanks much in advance
post #11207 of 22403
Hey pcweber, I just bought 2 wf34s and a wc24 , upgraded from the quintet III's..
still using the two quintets as surrounds. Pretty good upgrade to me , especially for music. One thing you need , at least to me , is a decent sub... I have a sub-10 from klipsch and it really helps . room is about 16x20x9... How big is your room?
Two wb14's for 258 is ok, get new ones from amazon or usually vanns for about
249 for both........ sorry don't know about the rf25, rc35 or rsx3s..

OK I have been looking around and stumbled onto the W series set with

4 WB14
1 WC24
1 XW300D sub

how much better are these speakers than the Quintet IV system with a Sub 12. Is the upgrade really worth the extra $450 or not, I am going to be using a Yahama A700 to drive them in an 18x14' room open on the left side to the Kitchen.

Yeah I saw that deal at VANNS after I bought mine but eh, I don't want to return them and have to order online. I think I'm going to order the WF-34w pair though along with the center. I love the look and they sound really clean and precise, just like I like my Klipsch speakers to sound.

My room is 15x17x12 btw.

So I bought the rc-64II, really an upgrade from my RC-62 I had, which I sold. I really like the Wood veneer. Can't wait till I can get my hands on RF-7IIs.

What's the biggest upgrade you notice?
I finally got my Klipsch setup looking good enough to "show off". You may notice that the center is an RF-62 II while the L/R are just the RF-62's. I haven't been able to tell a difference on them as far as sound, but I am happy I ditched the RC for another RF.

I also got rid of the two RW-12d's as I couldn't stand the plastic creaking and port chugging anymore. Other than that, I absolutely love these Klipsch!

Soo the pair of SVS PC12-NSD's outshine the Klipsch subs ?

Yes.

Didn't get a chance to do a lot of testing since I am currently missing an avr (returned). The only thing I can say was the sound was little more full in conversation. During explosions and what not, it blended very well with my RF-82s. The difference in setup from my old RC62 is I now have an XPA-3 hooked up as well.

I currently have a RC62 as well and a pair of RF82's and I too feel it's time to upgrade to the RC64.
Where did you get yours and did you get any deal?
Anyone in here know of a RC64 (rather have I then II for matching) for sale at a real good deal?
Maybe in summer I will sell my RS42's x4 and go with the 62's....my wife is going to kill me!

I got mine for 41% off MSRP during a very good sale and wanted to get the RF-7II's at the same time but didn't want to spend that much in one go (living off of Assistantship in school). Also, I have RF-82's I with an RC64-II, and thought the two blended quite well. Then again, I probably don't have audiophile ears. I see your point about matching. For me, this is a temporary setup until i upgrade again, whenever that will be as I have a few other things I need to get --> sub, avr, rf-7IIs. It wasn't too bad of a mismatch tho

peace!
I thought about getting that setup too. RF-82 II with RC-64 II, it would save a lot of money over the RF-7 II's. Wonder how much difference I would actually notice with 100% movie watching versus having RF-7 II's?

Also contemplated the thought of having all tower RF-82's for LCR, but think it would look really bad in a living room. Off-axis response would probably be better than traditional horizontal centers but would the sound quality trump the rc-64?
StuBerger -- You want to get the RC-64 and not the RC64 II. When Klipsch upgraded to the II versions, they dropped the 2 1/2 woofer crossover configuration. This means that they have the problem of woofer sound cancellation near the crossover point typical of the usual MTM configuration. The older RC-62 & RC-64 versions had the 2 1/2 way crossovers.

Unfortunately, the older stock seems to have been "gobbled up", at the highly discounted close-out prices, earlier this year (around the August time frame, when I bought my older model surrounds). Therefore, you are going to have to do some serious web searching to see if you can find the older models.

csgamer -- See my comments above, with regard to the RC-64. If you don't want a tower for the center channel, you could use a RB-81 for use as a center channel speaker. IMHO the RB-81 II would be a better choice than the RC-64 II (if you can't find the RC-64, non-II, version).

The RF-7s are better speakers than the RF-82s, but it depends on how loud you want your audio. The RF-7s have more dynamic range. Again, if you can get the older, non-II, versions, they should be better speakers.
very very hard to find any of those speakers.

I got lucky and found my RF63s and RC64 in cherry which was being discontinued. I got all three for $1780 shipped to the door.
