Yes it's ok to use speaker stands.. my KS525's are on 24 inch speaker stands right now.

it's kind of a hybrid design not necessarily distinctly in bipole or dipole..that's why I said wide dispersion, because klipsch uses that description. In any case they work extremely well in my opinion.

jbl pro speakers?

anone using jbl pro surround speakers with the klipsch setup? i am looking at a couple of jbl 8330s to replaced my rs-42s. would you say these are big improvements over the rs-42s? would they blend well with klipsch heritage fronts?

thanks

Lol The Denon is brand new. I only bought this 4 months ago! Hell still sitting in the box. I pulled it out once and tested it to be sure everything worked!

The budget I have getting the RF-7 will pretty much eat up anything I was gonna have left over for a sub much less a receiver. I'd have to sell this before getting a new one! hehe

I almost went with that model but got persuaded to go with the Denon 1910 due to the sale that was happening at the time! Plus the fact most of the replies said I wouldn't need a amp..but that was when I was looking more into PSB too though.

Hey all! I think it is time for an upgrade! I am looking to upgrade my receiver and am wondering what everybody is using now. I am trying to keep it well under $1000 if I can. Thank-you in advance for any suggestions!

As mentioned earlier, I did the crossover repair work on my Heresies (rear surrounds). Instead of littering the forum with all the photos, I thought I'd put a link here. The descriptions and photos are in my construction thread here if interested...

I have the Onkyo TX NR3008, you can get them for under $1200 if you are the right place at the right time (I think Newegg has them for that on the weekend).

I picked the 3008 over the 5008 because I was getting an aftermarket amp anyway (EMO XPA-5) so I didn't need the Toroidal that comes w/ the 5008.

The 3008 has everything else including the top of the line Audyssey.

I like APC but I really think they've made poor design decisions with their HT power stuff. The silver oval is pretty ugly. All black is the way to go.

I agree...black is def the way to go! I still hate the fact that I bought the Wii when it first came out and all accessories are white...it's a eyesore to me sitting on the media that's all black but heck if I'm going to buy a black one now.

my APC-15 is all black & it was 50% off retail on Amazon .. Yeah I still have the silver oval but @ least the rest of the unit is black ... great bang for buck on these ...
It really is just an insurance item to make the displays & AVR last alot longer with the power conditioners keeping the power @ a 120v constant.
as most display/AVR/PC failures can come from voltage fluctuation

I need to buy one soon, you say APC has a all black one?

Yeah i think Bi-pole/di-pole are for rooms that have issues with weird placement, long rooms, odd shaped rooms,I never really bought into the reflection/wide dispersion theory . on music maybe sorta , but for movies Nah direct radiators for me .
here a good explainable article on what I mean

I had a credit that i had to use on an accessory so i went for that apc. Vanns has it for $150 while the msrp was $550 so i thought i would take a shot. It only cost me $50 out of pocket. Still wish i would have gone with just a conditioner without battery backup but oh well. I need extra room and it does not have any vents on top of it nor does it get warm so i have my blu-ray player sitting on top of it now (with something in between to protect from scratches).

if U use a bedroom set-up then move the silver one in there outta sight & then get a black one
as i say they are a insurance issue with prolonging Equipment life when I get some extra cash i'm getting another for the bedroom setup as there some coin's worth of 46" Sharp & a TX-NR807,Blu-Ray & a planned HTPC in there as well

I have consolidated all my gear into one spot. I am really on a tight budget to finish my home theater and still need a pre/pro and probably an amplifier. I have 5 marantz monoblocks but would like to consolidate into a 5 channel amp. For the price i am willing to live with it. I know alot of people bought that h15 in silver only to paint it black so i could void my 2 year warranty and paint it black. Truthfully though it looks decent when you can only see the faceplate.

yeah I hear Ya ! I'm on a tight budget for my own HT & i think i'm about done with what i got I've got the TX-NR5008,UPA-7,Sharp 60" display, blu-ray,HTPC & 9 self modded Klipsch speakers & dual SVS subs
the APC was just to protect it all .
as for silver i would have gotten a silver if that was all they had @ that price even with it black i'm thinking of putting it outta sight anyway like the HTPC is now .
it has come in handy due to local storms that blew thru here & that as the house has old wiring . this HT gear is here to last for years forward
what do think the Marantz mono blocks are worth ?

I was able to purchase at Ultimate Electronics's Going Out of Business Sale a pair of
Reference RB 51-II Bookshelf Speakers for $200 pr.(along with a few Blu Ray Movies at 50% off). The RB 51-II sound fine as a bedroom speaker....well worth the price.

BTW, it was sad to see this company to go out of business as it was a decent alternative to Best Buy.

I have to strongly agree with you u I have the rf-7ii as well and this might be a strange word to describe them but they sound magical almost (told you it's strange) I've had many speakers over the years I don't think I've ever used that word before but every little sound is so big and real
